Hi to both of you. I got an email from someone who does Native American Genealgy but she charges. She told me she can go in-depth back into someone's history and find things out. I haven't had the funds to do so yet but I'd be happy to pass along the email to you if you are interested. My email address is rls722@sbcglobal.net. Just send me an email and put in the subject line Indian Genealogy and I'll know that you want the email forwarded to you.

Hope this helps a little,

Roberta Sullivan

My grandfather was from Edward and Emma's son Thomas Cooper (born 1904). My grandfather's name was also Thomas Cooper, but was adopted after his father died by a man by the last name of Mayer. All the rest you said in your family tree is the same as mine. I wish we could trace back to where in England William and Eliza were born. Any more info. on that or their marriage license would be helpful. Nice to meet you even though this post is quite old now!

John (b. 1784) and Jane (b. 1787) COOPER; 1850 census Blair Co., PA

John is listed as an innkeeper, 66 years old. Two older children are listed in the household, David (23, b. PA, painter) and Margaret (also 23, PA). The siblings could be twins (same age cited). They are listed in Holidaysburg, so that is almost certainly where the inn was located, as well. I have an almost certain, and rather important, link to this family group, but desperately need more information on them.

I have added connections to surnames Hanford, Heckler, Witherow, Ackerman, McKee, which might be echoed in this direct line as well.

Hello Vicki

The GRO Birth Index (via FreeBMD) has a birth of a Charles Newborn (sic) COOPER in the second quarter of 1869 in Stamford RD. This leads us to the baptism (via FamilySearch) of a Charles Newborn COOPER on 11 July 1869 in Barnack, Northamptonshire (which is in the Stamford RD), son of John and Mary COOPER.

A Charles Newborn COOPER married Ellen Mary Quinlan in the fourth quarter of 1895:

Marriages Dec 1895
Cooper Charles Newborn Woolwich 1d 2061

The couple seem to have moved back up north after their marriage. They are in Telford, Lincolnshire in 1911 and I attach the census image.

Hope this helps

Caroline

Is Cottonport near Mize?and does your husband have any recollection of anyone in the family having children put up for adoption in 1958 or 59?We are following up every tiny lead we might find. I know how unusual this may sound but my adopted cousin Nancy is really wanting to find her birth family. Both her adopted parents have passed away and except for her biological younger brother (who was adopted at the same time she was) I think she is feeling kind of adrift. From your post I can tell that you, like I,are digging to find where we came from. Most of us are fortunate enough to be able to trace our families, somewhat,so I'm sure it is even more frustrating when you are adopted and can't find a starting point because of bureaucratic red tape.Anything I dig up that might lead to your ancestors ,I will be sure to post to you.

They were the parents of Marie.Elmo and Delmo(twins). I hope this makes a connection for you.Nancy(the adopted cousin) is searching for her birth family. She has been told she is one of 6. She and her younger brother were adopted together in 1959.I'd appreciate a reply if there is any connection. Thank you in advance for anything you can tell me.

We got a break last night on another message board. Does the name BONER or RILEY ring a bell?.There were 6 children of that family adopted out. Two girls adopted out as singles and then four other children adopted with a sibling(1 boy and 1 girl)to each of 2 families. One set of those were to my cousin Betty and her husband Elmo(Moe).Nancy sent an inquiry to that and we're waiting for an answer.Seems the 2 older siblings have found each other. One of them is trying to keep a promise she made to her Grandmother to find the others. Keep your fingers crossed.I'll let you know what we find out.In the meantime, maybe this will help you in some ways. The web site that took us to the message board was--podunk.com,Mize,Ms.adoption archives.God bless and good luck.

I am helping an adopted cousin. Both her adopted parents are deceased and she wants to know more about her birth family. She was born in Mize,Mississippi,Nov.22,1954. She and her younger brother,(born July 3,1956) were adopted my my cousin and her husband.Their names were Betty and Elmo Cooper. The adoption was done in Indianapolis , Indiana,in January of 1959.The names given to them were Nancy Anne and Joseph. Nancy said she vaguely remembers that her name was "ANNIE",but being barely 3 at the time, she thinks that is why she was given "Anne" as a middle name. There was speculation at the time that the children were related to the adoptive parents.Any information will be greatly appreciated.

My grandparents names were Anthony and Margaret (McBride) Cooper. Although I did not know them and can not remember my father, this is the closest to any thing I have found. I do know my father had a sister named Theresa who used to write letters to me long ago. If anyone has any information on this family please contact me.

Hello Chelsey,

So what documents have you seen regarding Anna Cooper? You seem as convinced as I am that she is his daughter. I have seen plenty of trees and websites that address Benjamin Cooper and his family and I, too, had never come across anything that ever mentioned Anna as his daughter. I finally posted a family tree at Ancestry.com a couple of years ago naming Anna as a daughter of Benjamin Cooper (at the time there were no other trees making this claim). I see that there are now several trees that have used my tree as a source and I wonder if/how they drew the same conclusion as did I or if they merely copied my tree.

I would love to find out how you determined that Anna Cooper was the daughter of Benjamin Cooper. I have not seen any primary documentation naming Anna Cooper as a daughter of Benjamin Cooper but I do have what I consider proof.

Please email me off list to continue this conversation. I'd love to hear from you.

Pamela
buckspazz@aol.com
