I am Debra Cope. My Father was Harold Cope. Harold passed away in April of 2006. I was born in 1964 to Harold and Minnie Cope. Joanne, Naomi Jean, and Janice are my 1/2 sisters.

Martin/Marden Cope/Kob or Kop and Catherine(Catey) Zacharias(Zacherice)

Both of these people(man and wife)died at the same time in 1803 in Marshall, Ky. I am trying to find out why they died at the same time. I also have conflicting info on Catey's death date and it may well be 1805 possibly in childbirth since a daughter is recorded as being born in 1805? Does anybody have any info?

I am currently trying to match census family groups to GRO births, marriages & deaths. Any data would be a real help. I notice that you say your Copes are from Middlesex, mine were from Ealing/hammersmith/Fulham/Kenisington area.

Hi, I am looking for information on my great grandmother Louise Mildred Cope (1894-1952). She gave my grandmother up for adoption when she was 21 and although they reconnected later in life I know very little of her. I would especially love a picture if any family member still has one. I believe she married a man named Phillip Cooper Walker a few years after my grandmother's birth. Any information would be wonderful. Thank you!

Roy, Dollie and Oscar are buried Fairview Memorial Gardens, Jackson Co., NC. Edna and Floyd are buried Locust Field Cemetery. Oscar died 28 Oct 1918, Black Mountain, Buncombe Co., NC. His Death Certificate gives birth date 4 Nov. 1880. Tombstone 1882-1961. Dollie was child of William Cope and Louretta Bowers. I have seen no data to support "James" as a name for William Cope. Oocar was son of William Thomas Ensley and Sarah Elizabeth Aikens. The 1900, 1910, 1920 and 1930 census records give data on this family. Betty

Did you ever find any more information? Howard Simmons (Cope) is my Grandfather. He was Mary Simmons and Huey Elmer Cope's son. They never married. I do believe he married Laura Simmons.

I have several generations of your Cope and Duncan family as well as several maternal lines. the Willas is actually Willets, Jackson County, NC. Luther Fisher Cope born 4 Oct 1883, Scotts Creek, Jackson Co. died Aug 1977 Spearfish, SD. married Mary Caroline "Mollie" Duncan born Jan 1884, Willits, Jackson Co. died abt 1923, Deadwood, SD. Mollie's parents Jesse Elbert Duncan July 1862-1939 buried Davis Cemetery, Almond, Swain Co., NC married Mary Magaline Blanton 3 Dec 1860-19 June 1922. Jeremiah Blanton married Mary Crawford. I am not sure of the spelling for Wilas NC. my dad is going to bring over the death certificate and more information. My grandfather did a inquire on our last name. It starts in England North Hampton & London. Luther marriad a Duncan from NC. Her name was Molly. They are both burried in South Dekota. The same cementary as "Wild Bill". My dad is going by his memories. Luther was 95 we went to see him in a nursing home in the late 80's.

Hi Betty,
We are still struggling a little, My dad is Michael, his dad was Nelson Robert Cope, his dad was Luther Cope. Luther moved the family to South Dekota before WWI. Luther was born some where around Willas NC. Luther as we know made wiskey and sold it.
Please if you have more info lets know. My dad is going to drop off what he has for me to look over.

William Cope (29 April 1843-24 Feb 1923) born in Haywood County now Jackson County, NC was the son of Andrew and Annie Cope. They lived and died in Jackson County and are buried in Old Field Cemetery on Cope Creek Road near Sylva. Three generations of my lineage are buried there. I joined UDC as a descendant of William Cope. Some think this Cope family came from Germany. I still would like to see proof. What Cope do you descend from?

I am sorry I thought William Cope was origin came from England. My family has come from that area. My great grand father was from their, we believe that is where the Copes came from. Please if you have some information about this maybe we can share what we know?

The source for the birth and death date for William "Bill" Cope came from Bible records. There is no proof for the added "James" on any of the records: Bible, Deeds, Civil War records, and Marriage records. If anyone has proof for "James", I would like to see the record.

I have two trees, on Ancestry, that contain information about the Copes (sorry about the confusion and I am behind in working to get the same information on both trees. So you will want to check both trees.) 1) Sweatt/Sweat/Sweat/Sweet Family from Marlboro County, SC and 2) the John J. Cope Family Tree.

I just found some new information and obits for your Locklear lines. You can find that on the Sweat family tree.

Remember that there was no Hershey Pennsylvania until the mid 1920's. If you are researching that area prior to the development of the town you would be looking at Derry Township. This is still Dauphin County but even Hershey is not a proper city according to Pennsylvania guidelines. It still is Derry Township.

I have an Abraham Koph (Kopf) b. 1768 married to Magdalena Weiss. They had 9-10 children. I am still trying to verify this information. They lived in Hershey, PA where their children were mostly born. Do you have any other information on this family? I would like to hear from you.

According to the "Memorial History of St Paul's Lutheran and Reformed Churches," page 192, Joel Cope's birth is given as 23 Nov 1798 and his death is listed as 18 Sept 1859 after severe suffering at the age of 60 years, 9 months and 25 days.

The dates you refer to is William Cope, son of Andrew and Annie Cope of Haywood, now Jackson County, NC. He is buried in Old Field Cemetery as is his father and some pf his children. William Cope has Civil War records and was shot in the leg. He had 4 wives. He was not a thief from England!

This is a very long shot but I have a Thomas Cope with a grandaughter brought up as a daughter. She went to America as Bertha Stevens, her married name and is buried in Canada as Scott her second husbands name.

Eliza Jane Goff, mother of Nancy Virginia Cope McClellan

Nancy Virginia Cope (1885-1936) who married Richard Bennett McClelland in Brantley Co, GA, was the daughter of Franklin Cope and Eliza Jane Goff. Nancy had a sister named Ida, and possibly a brother named Jesse.

After Franklin's death around 1890, Eliza Jane remarried my great-great grandfather Aaron Hugh Highsmith. I am curious about Eliza Jane, her family, and where she came from. Census records are conflicting; some say she was born in Georgia, others Kentucky. There are viable possible records to back up either one, and it is next to impossible to narrow it down.

I am wondering if there are any descendants of Franklin Cope out there who can shed some light on his wife. Thanks.

Please! Anyone who has information on Thomas Cope. I am looking to verify his birth in 1810 somewhere in Pennsylvania. His daughter Bertha said he was buried in Techumsa Neb. Went there. No record. Ancestry has buried in Hermann Neb. May still go there. Checked out Crystal Springs, Kan from 1885 Kansas census. Melinda was still listed a wife so records of death in 1870 questionable. I am in Virginia and plan to go into Penn. I really would like to know where info on Fayette Penn originated. Thanks for your help.

I have found several trees listing her parents as John Cope and Jane Pendleton but the only attached record is a 1850 census listing Andrew Cope and Elizabeth Mason as parents or head of house. There was the motor cyclist 1920's the era you mentioned that lived in Bearwood, near Birmingham UK and also sold motor cycles there, I worked for him, he had a few sons as I remember, my grandad sold some property to Charles Cope to expand his Empire.

Born 1906 in Tennessee to Claudie Mae Cleveland and Joseph F. Cope. Looking for any relatives that would have any information on Howard and his family. He had a daughter named Mary Sue Cope in 1935. Elizabeth May Cope was born 29th Sept. 1888 Sheet Harbour Road, Halifax to Frank Cope and Mary Ann Quigley. (late birth registration 1904)

Elizabeth May Cope "Moore" herself applied 1904, and was living in Edmonton, Alberta Canada during this time.

She states she lived at Sheet Harbour for about 8 years.

I am interested in Mary Cope who married Thomas Goodwin in 1863, Oct 25th in Fulford, Staffordshire. I am in the process of determining if Thomas is from the pottery Goodwins or the foundry Goodwins or the Farm Goodwins!
