This is so amazing to know I really don't know much about my Cora family but My mom is the daughter of Ramon Cora she is Maria Cora My Mother was born in San tulce Puerto Rico and my Grandfather Ramon, as far as I know lived in Carolina, Puerto Rico

Well, i just stumble upon this message. I am the daughter of Hector Cora from arroyo. He lived in bridgeport connecticut. But, now he stays with me in Texas. I have 2 brothers in bridgeport Guillermo and Santiago Cora. My dad mom and dad were Domingo Cora and Teofila.

I am the granddaughter of Policarpo Cora and would like to know if your mother's brothers know any of the children (Esther?) of Policarpo. I recently visited Arroyo and was able to see my grandfather's picture in the city hall. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

My fathers name was Victor Cora Amaro. He was born in Barriada Yaurel Arroyo, PR. His father was Balbino Cora and his mother Maria Amaro. There are a few of us with the same name. My brother Victor M., and my son Victor N.

Hi Venus, Thank you for sharing your information with me. I did not know about the incest part but I did know about Joey Cora and he has a brother too that was in the major league. I just do not remember his name at this time. We also have family in Arroyo and Humacao. Unfortunately my dad past away a few years ago and I was not able to get to much information. Can you ask your grandmother if she knows Matilde Cora? She past away in late 1970. That was my grandmother. I will like to stay in touch with you and possibly together we can put the pieces of the puzzle together. Hey my name is venus cora, and im tryintto look into my history also, from what i understand my grandmother has told me that there is 1 cora family in all of puerto rico and they were seperated due to incest. Two cousins got together and had their own family and they were disowned. It sounds crazy i didnt believe it until i ran into a cora and she told me the same story, supposedly anyone cora is related to the famous baseball player joey cora from the dodgers. so far the cora family history is a mystery, i hope one day i can really get to know more about them. what do u know about the cora family???

We were reading the blogs on Arroyo,PR. My name is Evelyn Brayman and my mother is Irma "Rosalia" Rodriguez-Vega de Llorens (summer class of 1956 Guayama - Escuela Superior de Arroyo). My mother (taught Social Studies and Spanish from 1957-58 toward her credentials) and her family knew the Cora family intimately...her father, Francisco Rodriguez-Rivera, went all through school with the older Cora's. His compadres were Fernando "Nando" & Delores "Lolo", Manuel, Andre, & Betty Cora (she was a junior high school home economic teacher in Pitahaya #1.) There were a few more siblings in there.
My mother was friends with the Cora sisters & counsins between (1945-1979). Were you aware they owned and operated a rural transportation company. They also had an in-law who was mayor of Arroyo, his name Policarpo C. Cora. My mom is 71 and in conversations with her, I have her tell me stories of her own history, so that her memory recall triggers more and names start coming into play. Well, I hope that this gives you some new information to guide your journey. Contact us and we can get connected and share beautiful family histories of the long line of "original families" of "La PRA" in that area of Arroyo.

P.S. My mom's brothers are still very good friends with Cora'a now.

I am very confused with the names of Cora and Corey. My Great grandmother was Rachel Fances Corey/Bowman. Our records show her being born in 1851,in Ohio, married to Josiah Atney Bowman on Dec. 24, 1871. One of her children, Eldora Ann, was my grandmother. Was there 2 Atney Bowman's and a Rachel Cora and a Rachel Corey ??? My Rachel was married and reared her children in Daviess Co., MO. Would really like to figure this out. Thank You.

If the Victor mentioned is the same Victor Cora in Haverhill MA, which is a suburb of Boston MA, then yes, he has 3 brothers. Pedro is one of them... he would be my father in law and they have a sister named Nilda.

Hello everyone,

My husband and I were sitting here talking. He is an Amaro-Cora, although born in the states, in MA, his family is from Arroyo PR. I googled the information I had and came upon this thread by chance. We have been trying to figure out who he is related to in PR. We believe that the Victor Cora that is in this thread is my husband David's uncle. If this is the case, then yes, he has 3 brothers. One of which is Pedro Cora, my husbands father. David, my husband has a two brothers Pedro and Jeffrey. If indeed all Cora's from Arroyo are related then my husband is in fact a part of that family. Another note, both my husband and his brother are Cora-Amaro... due in error to the hospitals in the continental US, who reversed the last name from Amaro-Cora. I would be very interested in learning further information regarding my husbands family.

Hi everyone. I don't know any of you personally but having recently visited Puerto Rico, I was told upon inquiring that ALL the Cora's are related and are all highly intelligent, and very muscially inclined. (Back in the day they were slaves dropped off from Portugal & Africa to specifically Arroyo & Guayama, & so acclimated to their new language, etc.) Nevertheless, all P.R. Cora's are definitely related. They are a very, very large family. Unfortunately, some Cora women had to give up their children which sadly separated us from knowing who's who ...
nevertheless somehow, as I was told by native Puerto Ricans on the island ... we're related.

My maternal grandmother was Mabel Evelyn Cora (by birth). She was born around 1909, and eventually married Ernst Koenig, taking his last name. Ernst was born in Germany, but I've been led to believe that Mabel was born in the United States. Unfortunatley, I have almost no other information regarding Mabel (e.g., siblings, parents). She did rear three children with Ernst: Ruth, Manfred, and Audrey. She died in the late 1960s.
