Furthest we have been able to track now on my wife's (nee Corbridge) side is an Edmund Corbridge born 1749, followed by a William Corbridge born 1780, followed by a John Corbridge born in Sutton-on-Trent in 1802, whose daughter was Eliza Corbridge born Sheffield 14/12/1839; who had an illigimtae son George William Corbridge born 10/5/1863 in Rotherham. He later moved to Bakewell. George was my wife's great grandfather.

Yeah James alfred is my Garndfather, unfortunatly he passed away in the late 1940's ( i will have to check the exact date) He married my grandmother Polly Marsh. They had 5 Children Mary,Herbert, Joan, Lily and James. James is my father. Who sadly passed away in 2001.
Would be good to hear from you, and maybe i could add more history to my family tree.

Hi,
There were lots of Corbridge families living in Lancashire England.
Over the years the name Corbridge has changed to Coalbridge, Colbridge and now Coleridge as in my maiden name. Perhaps this information will be of some help to you.

How much confidence can we have on the famous people link? My 3xG Grandmother Ellen Corbridge is alledgely related to 7 Presidents of the USA!

I know the family originated from Lancashire and some family members did move to America and were supposedly a founding family of the Mormon Church.

Could this be possible? As I am resident in England I have no chance in checking this out independently.

John Corbridge was an Overseer of the Poor, an annual appointment, in 1739 and 1757. His accounts are in the archives at Wakefield.

Widow Corbridge was buried at Hemsworth 28 January 1731.

It is believed that the John Corbridge marked with an asterisk had the following children
Thomas CORBRIDGE bpt. 12? 13? March 1726 Hemsworth * date needs checking*
Ann CORBRIDGE bpt. 1734 Hemsworth
(Ann possibly married Henry OTLEY 24 November 1757 at Hemsworth.)

Thomas CORBRIDGE probably married Mary GREAVES at Hemsworth 21 February 1757.
The baptismal records for the following children only give the father’s name - Thomas Corbridge. No mother is given.
1. John CORBRIDGE
bpt. 10 July 1757 Hemsworth
m. 18 February 1781 Wakefield sp. Ann HAMMERTON

I'm afraid my information mostly cuts out about 1900. My gt-gt-granmother was a Henrietta CORBRIDGE. Her sister Harriet CORBRIDGE married William THOMSON at Wakefield in 1838. They all moved to Scotland. I do have some information on other CORBRIDGE families which stayed in Yorkshire, but I would need dates for your grandparents to see if they connected to what I have.

Can anyone help me find the ancestors of my great uncle?

My Uncles name was Arthur Henry CORBRIDGE and he was born 02/10/1907 in Nelson Lancashire. He died in 1975 in Weymouth, Dorset.

All I know of him is that his father owned an Undertakers Business we think in Nelson, Lancs and was at on stage Mayor of Nelson.

Can anyone expand this family? If you can please contact me.

John Corbridge is my Great grandfather (to many greats to mention) I have almost a complete genealogy of his decendents up to 1970. After that is is just my line I have information for.

The is a book that was passed around during the 70's called the Corbridge and Black Families. O.D. Corbridge spent time putting it together. If you are ever in Jacksonville, Illinois, there may be a copy of it there in the library.

Hi, I'm trying to trace the roots of my mums family. I have tracked back to births in 1842 ish of Samula J Corbridge, born in Newark, England. Samuel was a Foreman Engineer At an Iron Works. He was married to Agnes (maiden name not known) of Warrington. The family moved to the Sheffield area. Has anyone got any connections to solve any missing links? Mark

John Corbridge of Haxey Parish

I'm working on the Corbridges. Currently trying to link the Illinois clan with the Utah clan from the story of the three brothers who came to America from England, two went west, one settled in Illinois and the other in Utah. There is no paper link. Only the shared story. The farthest back we can trace the Illinois Corbridges is to John Corbridge of Haxey Parish, England. He married Mary Halifax on 8/15/1709. If anyone has anything I'd be glad to share and hear more.

I don't know if this will be a help or a hinderance. I am working on the Corbridges and I found two Johns, very early however. The first is the dad John Corbridge married Mary Halifax on 8/15/1709 in Haxey Parish, and John Corbridge the son, who married Sarah Maw on 9/24/1729 also in Haxey Parish. If you have any more information on the Corbridges in England I'd appreciate a short reply.

I thought i would give you a little more info..The 4 kids before you were, Jerry Ann Dore, William Charles Dore, David Gregory Dore, and Frances Koonz..The oldest 3 were left with Jennies sister and Frances was given up for adoption..Frances passed in a car accident in 1983.And then there was you, the only pieces of info that we had, was your name and that you were born in Idaho..I'm not kidding when I said I called every corbridge in Idaho :)
Some of them twice...they must have thought I was some kind of a stalker or something...lol..
There were 6 kids after you..Mary Theresa Hogan, James Francis Hogan(died at birth) Christopher Joseph Hogan, Shawn Patrick Hogan, Colleen Ann Hogan , Kevin Francis Hogan..I am Mary's daughter, but was adopted by Jennie and Marty Buckner(her husband for 23 years), so actually Biologically i'm your niece, but legally, I'm your sister.Isn't there a country song about this? :)

Donald Corbridge

Seeking any and all information on Donald Corbridge. I think he died in Calif. around 1997. At one time I think he was married to a woman named Jenny. Supposedly there are 3 to 4 children from a previous marriage to Jenny. I am the only known child of this union. I'd love to learn as much as I can about this family.
