Corcorans from Co. Clare

Hey, there! Aren't any of you folks researching Corcorans who emigrated from Co. Clare? I feel so lonely.... :-)

If you are, please email me at jeanneedwyer@gmail.com or check out my public tree here on Ancestry. You'll need to look for the surname Cuggeran, as that was/is the spelling how many of the Clare people who took the name Corcoran to the US.

Thanks!
Jeanne

Corcorans and Porters

I am researching my Porter family from Allegheny County
I have a copy of the 1850 census with the Porter family I am researching. It is from Allegheny County. Patton Township (dwelling # 92)

Andrew Porter 40 m farmer Pa.
Sarah Porter 40f
Joseph Porter 23m farmer
James Porter 20m
John Porter 18m
Sarah Porter 4f
Andrew Porter 8/12m ( I think this means 8months old male)
William Porter 11m

Then next is the Tweady Family followed by the Dimpsey Family and then another Porter family

John Porter 60m farmer Ireland
Margaret Porter 63f Ireland
Marta Porter 8f Pa

next house
James Porter 40m farmer NY
Eliza Porter 30f Pa
Mary Porter 22f Pa
Jane Porter 19f Pa
William Porter 26m Pa
Sarah Porter 21f Pa

the ages of this family are such that maybe they are all brother and sisters- possibly children of John and Margaret next door????

I am particularly interested in any information on Andrew's father. Andrew died on March 20,1885
His obit in Pittsburgh Commercial Gazette Sat. March 21,1885 read: Andrew C. Porter at the fam. residence no 321 Center St. 21st ward on Friday March 20,1885 @ 7am. in his 82 year.
Also from 1880 census there are two more children, Clinton and Harry.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, Carolyn Porter

Update: I have found his fathers name was Joseph Porter and his mother was Mary Corcoran. They moved from Ohio to Pittsburg in 1813 with 7 children, the second son was Andrew. I do not know the names of the other children
Corcoran from Cuggeran

Hi,

I just discovered a Michael Corcoran who was naturalized in 1920 while residing in Mattapan, MA (attachment of card). He arrived in the US in 1909 (attachment of manifest). His naturalization record states he was from Co. Clare, Ireland. I have determined that many of the Corcorans I've seen who hail from Clare were actually part of the Cuggeran line in the parish/civil reg district of Kildysart in Clare, which is where my link is.

I'm wondering if there is anyone on this board who is connected to this particular Corcoran. If so, please contact me at jeanneedwyer@gmail.com. We have a lot to talk about!

Regards,
Jeanne

Re: CALLING ALL CORCORANS!

Just before Christmas I discovered that my branch of the Corcorans, John COrcoran and Mary Williams Corcoran, married on Aug 25, 1840. They came to America and settled in CLeveland Ohio with their very young son, Hugh. They later had two other children, Margaret and Robert. Robert is my great grandfather. I uncovered that Hugh was born in Enniskerry, Ireland in 1851 and his father was a tennet farmer for John Lamb near Powercourt according to the Griffith Valuation. I discovered the Williams were landowners back then. If any one is related to Hugh or Margaret, please contact me. I know Hugh & his wife Mary Manning had a lot of children, but I haven't be able to contact any of them. I'd love to make contact. THank you.
Sincerely,
Linda Corcoran Silverman

Thanks for taking on such a challenge. My mother was a corcoran, born in Montanta. Her father was Walter Fay and was born in Iowa, and died in Montana. His father was probably born in Chicago and mover to Iowa and died in Montana. I once had a book with an extensive Corcoran geneology. Some movers stole the box it was in and I have not been able to get beyond my John Corcoran. Sure wish I had that book, or at least something to be me beyond my John Corcorn.

My paternal grandmother is a Corcoran. I hesitated posting here because my information is quite incomplete, and there's always the possibility I followed a bad path somewhere, but so far this is what I have:

Patrick Corcoran (c.1880-?) m. Catherine Hickey (c.1882-?): Patrick was from Borris, co. Carlow, Ireland (and I think, more specifically, from the townland of Ballinagree). According to family legend they had 17 children, but I have found evidence for 8.

Stephen Joseph Corcoran (1901-1990) m. Mary Theresa Birrane (1903-1987): Stephen was born in Borris and came to America along with four other siblings. Mary came to Boston from Limerick, Ireland and has a sister Bridget. The couple had five children, including my grandmother who is still alive.

If anyone has information on any of these people, or would like more specifics, please message me (or email me at GenealogicalJ@gmail.com)
Re: Claire "Cookie" Corcoran Klepacki

I am fairly certain that this is my Klepacki line as well. My grandparents, Zigmond/Siegmund and Stella/Stanislawa Klepacki are one of eight "Klepacki" family members buried at Holy Name Cemetery, in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, USA. There is a "Bernard Klepacki" - b 1918, died Jan 28 1957.

I am trying to find out more information about the Klepacki family before they came to the US and my grandmother's family, the "Blasczyzk" family.

I don't know if this will help you but I believe that Bernard may be the son of one of my great-uncles. From what I've researched over the past week, I've uncovered two brothers for Siegmund (my grandfather) whom I believe to be "Charles" and "Leon"

My Grandfather Klepacki (his name is spelled at least a half dozen different ways as far as I have discovered so far) was born in Poland (but was then part of Ukraine) in 1878.

Other family members buried at Holy name are:

Bernard Klepacki

Claire Klepacki

Leon Klepacki

Nell Klepacki - my father's sister

Stanislaw Klepacki - apparently died as an infant in 1909

Stanley M. Klepacki - one of my father's brothers

Stella (Stanislawa) Klepacki - my paternal grandmother - maiden name "Blasczyzk or Blasczyk")

Zygmond Klepacki - my paternal grandfather

---------------------------------------------

My other aunts/uncles; children of Zygmond and Stella

John Z. Klepacki b about 1911/ died 1971 in New Jersey

Joseph Klepacki b 1916, died 1964 - in new jersey

Dorothy/Dorota M. Klepacki b. 1922 - died in either 1993 or 1994, in New Jersey

I hope this helps Bernard in some way. I'm wondering Bernard's grandfather might not have been one of my grandfather's brothers - making him one of my great-uncles.

If I can be of any further help, email me directly at Alyoop2@yahoo.com

I'm looking for Catherine Corcoran. Born around 1870 in Ireland. Married Peter Cullen around 1885 and ended up in Joliet, Illinois.
I found the marriage record from St. Gabrial in Montreal for a Catherine Corcoran and a Peter Cullen in 1886. Her father was a James Corcoran and Mary "unreadable".Shows they were from Kilkenny. Does anyone have anything on this line of the Corcorans? I believe this is the Catherine I'm looking for but the whole Canada tie was unexpected.

Part of my family is from the Borris Parish, co. Carlow area, with the surname Corcoran. I'm not sure I can help much, because there are a huge number of Corcorans there and my earliest date is Patrick Corcoran born around 1880. I don't have any of his parents or siblings (if there were siblings) but I know he married a Catherine around 1900.

Something I just found out recently that you might want to look into is that the parish is not actually called Borris, but instead Borris is a part of the Clonygoose (or Clonegoose) Civil Parish. From what I can see, civil parishes are no longer in use in Ireland, but they would have been during the 1800's and records may be listed under them.

I have a couple links concerning civil parishes if you'd like more information. And if you have siblings of Bridget there may be a connection to my branch of Corcorans there :)

Thank you, I will try looking up her death certificate. No I do not have her maiden name. I'm not too sure but I think maybe my grandparents were married in Germany or Ireland. I was told awhile back that My grandfather came to the U.S. first and then later sent for the women to come over after the men had settled here. I was told that the Corcoran family in Galway owns alot of Breweries/Pubs. At one time they appearently owned Cabarets'/Brothels'. My grandmother Mary Jane Corcoran Derner is the oldest of 15 children. Their names are: AGNES*ANNIE*BERNADETTE*BRIDGET*FRANK*JOHN*JOSEPHINE*KATHLEEN*NOEL*NORA*PADDY*RITA*TOMMY*TONY
Some of whom she never got to meet because she never went back to Ireland. Sad.

Hello. I am having a truly difficult time finding any information on my paternal grandmother who immigrated to the U.S. around the 1930s. I have NO one in the family who wants to help me so I'm doing my research alone and not finding much information. My grandmothers name is Mary Jane Corcoran Derner. She was born in Galway Ireland around 1912. She comes from a very large family of I believe 16 siblings. Her fathers name is Thomas Corcoran & her mothers name is Ann. If anyone knows of this family I would really appreciate some information. Thank you.

I am searching for information about John Corcoran and his wife, Mary Williams who came to New York on the Devenshire with their 3 month old son, Hugh, and arrived on July 30, 1851 from Ireland.
Hi All,
My great-grandfather was also Lawrence J. "Larry" Corcoran. My grandfather was Walter Corcoran, father of Ambrose Leslie Corcoran, my dad.
My father also went to live at one point with his Great Aunt Sally and/or Aunt Daisy. I know this for a fact. It may be after his mother died quite suddently in Danvers, MA, after a short illness. Or it may have been that he lived with them as a young man. I know they were quite influential in his life.
To an earlier point, it's true: The Corcoran men did not live long. In my branch of the family, starting with Larry, no one lived longer than 64, until my dad, who live to be 84.
Also, my dad has a memory of Uncle Mike coming to visit him--probably when his family lived in Newark. He remembered that Mike wore a snazzy suit and maybe gave them each a quarter or some other large-at-the-time shiny coin.
I'm back into researching Larry, his wife, his parents, and would love to share info with you.
For one thing, has anyone learned where William was born in Ireland. I know he was listed as a butcher on some document I found.
Thanks!

Corcoran photos ,Nellie H, Norma G., Bill, Joann, Michael, Jim

My mother passed away in 2010 in St. Louis, Missouri, and had many photos of the Corcoran Family in her albums. Many are from the 1930s through 1960s. I believe Nellie was my Dad's Aunt, and my Mom corresponded with Norma until her death. I was hoping that either Joann, Michael, Jim or their heirs would be interested in receiving these photos. I did call a phone in Hawthorne, CA of a James Corcoran, but received no reply.
