Will send you what I can find on that family line and you might be able to see where your family members fit in ...also, what are the approximate dates of their births .... Many from that line lived around the Finger Lakes .. Penn Yan, Himrod, Wayland from what I see in the book. Naples is along Canandaigua Lake, one of the Finger Lakes .... Also, email me with a good email to send you info. Typed some up for Mary Kay and need to send her more, but a family emergency came up and I got sidetracked ... Almost forgot. My email is topaz16@aol.com

Karen

I will be sending more as soon as I can type it out ....our ancestors were close by each other ...I grew up in Monroe County, but spent summers at Canandaigua Lake in Ontario County ...
Mary Kay

I know exactly where Naples, NY is. I grew up not too far from there. My Newown, LI, NY Cornishes ended up in Broome County, Wayne County, Monroe County and some other spots around there in NY. It is possible that we might have a distant relationship because of the proximity ... But, I need some information from you to lookup in that book.

There were approximately six groups of Cornishes in this country. They were not direct relations, but all seem to come from same area and might have been related way back. The name Cornish means "of Cornwall".

Some of mine are buried in cemeteries in Monroe County, NY, some in Wayne County, and some are more distant ...you can contact me directly with some info to help me find what I can in the book to see which line your descendants came from. And, my grandmother had a copy of a genealogy report done in the early 1800's which helped me, and with the book, and some tidbits of history, pieced my group together ...

Contact me at topaz16@aol.com

Karen

Hi there:
I too am a descendant of William Cornish b ABT 1453, by his daughter and co-heiress. The daughter Elizabeth,b 1479 & was married to Ralph Jocelyn/Josselyn. This was in Canfield, Essex, England. This information goes back to 1475.The names of their children were: Ralph b 1503 in Canfield,Essex. Eng.:
Agnes b ABT 1499:Phillip b ABT 1501: Nicholas b ABT 1506:
Denys b ABT 1508: the last 4 all born in same location as Ralph[the first son]and was the s/o John Josselyn b ABT 1449,& Anne Lavenham b ABT 1451. Before I continue, is any of this line in your branch of this tree.?
More than willing to share, but, it's of no interest to you
if it don't pertain to your line.

email me when you can Maxine at kansaslassie@gmail.com

I would love to have a copy of the picture of Rebecca B Bell and her husband. I believe that Rebecca is my gggrandmother and Margaret is my ggrandmother. However, when Margaret got married she used the name Effort. John Effort b. 1817 Georgia was a cherokee indian Territory, Oklahoma and was married to someone else. I do have a picture of Margaret and one of her brothers and his family. I see the resemblance between Thomas J Bell and the man in the picture that I have but his wife looks different than Martha, Thomas' wife. vovercomer at yahoo.com

Hi Shellz52
came across your thread completely by chance. for what it's worth, my father Francis Davey was born (1913)near Penzance, Cornwall and eventually settled in S.Africa. His father was Harold and g/f was John so i think the family line goes way back in Cornwall. I now live in sydney, aus. I have been to his birthplace in Cornwall. I noticed that 'Davey' was a common surname in Cornwall, and less so the derivatives like davies, davie, davy, davis, etc, which are more common in Wales or SE England. rgds, paul davey

Dorothy Dibble, then Sarah Whiting. Amaziah was one of 8 children ... Shows no birthdate, but shows death around 1836. Married a Rebecca and lived in Coventry, NY. Shows one child Keziah.
I know ... My Cornish line was hard, but think I have it ... I had some clues, and Abraham came from Newtown, NY and is buried in Fairport, NY where I lived, but have never been to grave ... Getting beyond him was the puzzle, then one day a month ago a genealogy of Seversmith etc. Was found and I searched and in the add on info found the clue ...hope it is correct ... My grandmother was a Cornish in NY. Now, finding more on the spouse is the hard part .... Almost have to search through google to the locale of her death and see if any records are available through vital record units in that county.

Mary was one of their children. Shows her father being Thomas Cornish born in 1770 and dying in KY

Hello,

My 3rd Great Grandfather in John Gaines Cornish. I know that he was born in March of 1820 in Ontario, New York. I know that he moved to Clayton County, IA and married Anna Eastman. When she died in 1854, I know their children were left with neighbors and he "disappeared." I have found SEVERAL family trees with him dying in Los Angeles 5 April 1913, yet none of them are sourced. I inquired about them. The authors that replied stated they copied the info from someone else's tree. I have researched this for some time. Not only can I not find a source for this date and location, I can not find any record of a John G. Cornish living in California. Are you at all familiar with this name? Thank you in advance for your time.

This report I have that was done by Delphine has been in my grandmother's family for years. My mother gave me a copy. Do not know who John C. Moore is. I am descended from William. I presume the report was given to my grandmother, Justine. William's son by his second marriage was Edwin S. Cornish who was the father of Justine's father Jay Edwin. I have a photo of William's second wife Ann Eliza Smith with Edwin, Jay and Justine. Apparently, this report got around the Cornishes in Wayne and Monroe County NY.

I have wondered the same thing about her age. I pulled out the genealogy sheets prepared by Delphine Hanna, A.M. -M.D. In 1928. Keziah was 7 years older than Abraham. They were married by a Presbyterian mi inter in Newtown. Abraham died at the hom of his granddaughter Margaret Smith. I am going to try to get her death certificate from Fairport ... I am from there and when I go to visit my mother I will check into it.

Also, this genealogy was done for the ancestors of Maria Louise Smith Chadwick. She also says to find an expert to look up the records of Newtown, now Elmhurst, L.I. Am trying to find who Jonathan Furman married fo his second wife. Keziah's sister. Also, will join the NY genealogical society to get into their records.

Is your husband and I related through William or Eliza?

If Keziah was born in 1766 she would have been 33 years old when she married Abraham. That seem to be unusual for the time. Could she hsve been a widow? If she did marry that late that might be why there are only 2 children listed. I only had the two children listed also.
You would be related to my husband.

We must be related then .... I have a family genealogy that was done for my grandmother, Justine Cornish VerCrouse. Her father was Jay Edwin and his father was Edwin S. Cornish and Mary Benton his mother. Edwin's father was William and his mother was Ann Eliza Smith ... She remarried after William died and married a Pratt. I found that out when I found a picture in my grandmother's family album of Ann Eliza, Edwin, Jay, and grandma as a baby. William was dead so Ann Eliza was in the picture as part of the generation.

Abraham and Kezia(h) are both buried in Fairport, NY Greenvale Cemetary.

I have several sheets in a genealogy done for my grandmother. It starts with Abraham and Keziah.

I got a copy downloaded of the Cornish Families in America and found the thread of Newtown, NY beginning with Thomas Cornish from England. I then said .... Who was Abraham'sfather? Puzzling, but then I found a thread in an article entitled Colonial Families in Long Island and Connecticut .... And there are pages on the Cornish family and later a supplement which is where I found the real information.

So, under Benjamin there is a lot and below it was John Cornish with his children ... It listed Abraham who married Keziah ... And that is where my thread went .... Keziah's sister married a Jonathan Furman .... And it said that Keziah was from NJ.

Here is the thread that I think I have straight .... Thomas from England .... Benjamin born in Exeter, NH to Benjamin, to John to John to Abraham to William, To Edwin to Jay to Justine, to my mother . Jean Lenora VerCrouse to me Karen McCrary.

One thing my genealogy sheets show is that Keziah and Abraham show two children, but there were probably more ... Eliza and William. H was 100 years old and died in the home of his grand daughter in Fairport. I have lots more info on Eliza's children and so on .... Pages.

Keziah Brush Cornish and Abraham Cornish from Newtown, NY

Trying to find more information on Keziah Brush who married my great grandfather 3 or 4 times removed, Abraham Cornish. Have copies of a genealogy done decades ago. It only shows two children born to them, but indicating there were probably more. Their son William was the father of Edwin, father of Jay, who was the father of my grandmother Justine. I have traced Abraham to Thomas Cornish from England. Hard to find on genealogy websites, but there are documents and books that helped form this lineage. Keziah, however, according to one document, appears to be from NJ! That trail seems to end! Anyone have any info on her? She was born in 1766 according to the genealogy. Thanks.
