The Coronado sur-name originated in Galicia, Spain. As you
know it means crowned.

If you read Spanish you can do a search in that language and
get more information than you want.

Good hunting.

I have a death certificate for Francisco B. Coronado, died March 1915 in Los Angeles, CA at age 61. Lists parents as Jesus Coronado and Ignacia Costenera. Francisco fathered two children in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico in 1897 and 1901 (Luis and Ygnacia), emigrated to Los Angeles in 1901, so he was from that area at the turn of the century.

Any leads or direction would be appreciated.

Thanks
Teddy in CA
teddy@trnoye2.com

I see this posting is old, however, if you're still looking for info re: Lazaro Coronado, I know of a Lazaro Coronado who lived in Edinburg, TX. He had a large family and two of his sons were named Ricardo and Abundio. The Lazaro Coronado that I knew was married to my grandmother, so I guess he was my step-grandfather.

He was a widower when he met her. They were married for a few years. He, my grandmother, my dad, my mom and other family members (on my grandmother's side)camed to California around 1954 in a yellow Chevy truck. However, he didn't stay long in California. He wanted to return to Texas, but my grandmother did not. He returned to Texas alone and we never heard from him again. I have a certificate of marriage and a couple of photos, one of them is a border crossing I.D.
I don't know if your grandfather is the same man, but it would be a huge coincidence if these were two different men.
Best of luck, Audacious

I have reason to believe my grandfather's grandparents (Jesus Coronado and Rita Herrera) came from San Luis Potosi, Mexico (maybe Valle de Mais), to Texas in the early 1880's. They had a son Daniel Coronado who married Leonor Gonzales in San Antonio, Texas, both also believed from San Luis. Daniel also married Petra Martinez from Valle de Mais. My grandfather (Juan Coronado born in 1893) had two brothers (Sabas and Pablo) and one sister (Eulalia).

We are on the hunt for some family. My husband's g-g-grandfather was Marcos Coronado, who married Dorthy Robles. Together they had 9 (possibly more) children named Jose, Francisco, efren (female), Miguel, Elaria (sp?), Refugio, Augustin (sp?), Santos, and Ysidro. The children's birthdates range from 1905-1920ish. I believe most of them where born in Chihuahua, Mexico but not positive. My husband's g-grandfather was Jose "Joe" Coronado who married Maria Botello. If this sounds at all familiar, please email me with any information! coronadoclan@qwest.net - thanks
