Hugh Corrigall, son of James Corrigall, was my great grandfather. Hugh's son Ernest (my grandfather)went to the Orkneys back in the 1990's and was in contact with a cousin who happened to be an amateur geneologist. I don't have any of the information at hand, but I will try to find it.
I have Jane McArthur's wedding band. No date inside.

My grandfather was James Ivan Corrigall born on feb 18, in Maniwaki in 1880. The James Ivan born 1852 was his father.The other names you listed were all his brothers.
My grandfather married Mary Rose Trahan and had 4 children. Mary Eileen, Allan Maurice,Gwen Margret and Marian Francis. All but Mary Eileen are still living. Allan is my father.
I have access to much more info about our family if you like.

Peter Corrigall B 02 Oct 1863 - Illigitimate child of Margaret Gray (her mother = Eliza Muir B 1818).
Born in Kirkwall, Orkney + later changed his name to Corrigall on the island + travelled to Newcastle as an appprentice chemist.

I hope this might help in our 'Sutherland" families search for my GGrandmother, Jane Corrigal. She married Donald Sutherland in both Evie and Rendall and Tongue, Scotland the same year.

If you have the info on the Corrigall (sp) family it would finish the puzzle or point me in the right direction.

Hi,
I am a descendent of Robertina Sutherland and have been contacted by a descendent of Donald Sutherland/Jane Corrigall. I was looking at the web page of Mary Young and the memorials and found the tomb for Donald and Jane which states her death in 1908 at age of 82 years. Is birth info correct for Jane Corrigall (1830) as there are 2 other Jane Corrigall's born in Evie-Rendall in 1825 (which would match the death date/age).

No problem. And no, I don't see any Corrigall people in my family tree so far. So many people have helped me during my searches that I try to help other people whenever I can. I started checking out Orkney people to find where Isbister came from. Had seen a bunch of Corrigall marrying Isbister so checked them out. The other Corrigall/Tulloch couples are on the same site for Orkney and I'm pretty sure that John/James Corrigall and Mary/Margaret Tulloch are brothers marrying sisters. They married in same area and had children with same naming patterns. Good luck in your search.

Thank you very much for the post! I was unaware of his date of arrival in Canada, and that is a big plus in our search. I have visited the cursiter.com site for the Orkney Isles, and was aware of his christening date, as well as the names of his parents and siblings; have also viewed the LDS/FHC CD that contains similar data.

Regarding the names you list above, I do not have this info either. Are you connected to the John Corrigall and Margaret Tulloch? Might you have any suggestions as to how to learn more about his immigration to Canada? ie. place of entry, name of ship, or any other pertinent info?

The 1901 Census says he arrived in Canada in 1875. It only lists his birth as 1852. He was christened in Orkney on 22 Feb 1852. Do you have all of his siblings, etc? There was alot of Corrigall's married to Tulloch. John Corrigall and Margaret Tulloch, Peter Corrigall and Clemintina Tulloch. John named all his kids the same as your James.
