I am hoping this posting remains active into 2012!
Patrick Costello (bd ~1802) in Ireland moved to the the Montreal area (Kingsey St-Felix-de-Valois) married Anna (or Hannah) Curley.
Children born around the 1840s include: Thomas, William, Margaret and John.
I have precious little information other than the fact that the family remained in and around the Montreal area until my grandfather Francis "Frank" Costello settled in the Detroit area and worked for Continental Motors.
Any additional information would bemgreatly appreciated!

antjojo3@comcast.net

I am not sure, but we may be related as well, but going further back. My great-grandfather, Edward Canning, married Catherine Cushley (b. 1837) on July 2, 1864 in Bellaghy Roman Catholic Chapel, Bellaghy. About 4 or 5 years later, they emigrated to Renfrewshire in Scotland. I have Catherine's father as Hugh Cushley and her mother as Catherine Cassidy. I know that as of the date of Catherine's marriage, Hugh was living in Broagh, Londonderry, and was engaged in farming. I understand that Cushley and Costello are versions of the same name. I am wondering whether you have any information on this branch of the family.

Looking for information on descendants of Patrick and Ann Costello (Ann Sheehy) from Co. Tipperary, Ireland. They had several children in late 1800's born in Co. Tipperary: John, Nora, William, Thomas, Richard and Mary. John, Nora, William and Thomas moved to Detroit, Michigan area in early 1900's.
Believe that most of their children married and settled around Detroit and/or Chicago area.

Does anyone know if Sadie and William Costello adopted any children, or were all of the eight kids living with them their own?

I was a great friend of Danny Costello son Costello and Doyle from Parnell,MI.,we worked together at Ford Motor and shared our Irish heritage and memories from 1965 thru 1975. I was much younger than Dan. (1941)During his retirement they lost their only daughter whom, I believed lived in Ionia, MI. She was a young mother and it was very painful to Dan and his wife. Her husband was an attorney and I believe a Prosecutor for the Ionia area. Dan and wife lived on a lake in that area I believe Silver Lake = I`m not sure. Tom McGuckin, Perrysburg,OH

Stephen Costello of NYC

I'm searching for information about Stephen Costello, born in New York around 1900, son of Margaret Costello (don't know father's name) of Ireland. His siblings were Frank, Mary, Matilda, and maybe also John. I know that he lived on the Upper East Side (1453 Second Avenue) of Manhattan for some time but do not know where he went after about 1927.

Stephen fathered a child out of wedlock, Margaret, with a Julia Farrington in 1924, who later gave the child up for adoption in 1927. Sadly, Stephen did not wish to be involved with his daughter, though he did pay child support. I would love to know how the rest of his life turned out, as he is my great-grandfather (Margaret was my maternal grandmother). I am not interested in blame or hard feelings, just would like to know about the family my grandmother never knew.

If you are a relative of Stephen Costello, please do not hesitate to send a reply or private message!

Hi Matt, I’m Maeve and my mother is Phil Costello, her dad was Patrick Costello born in Paddock . My mum says that Patrick Costello was a cousin of Matt and Jim at Pallas which is next door to Paddock. I’ve had a look at the parish records and I can’t see any definite link, the parish registers don’t go back far enough - but I think your James Joseph Costello must be a brother of my Michael Costello at the Paddock. Michael Costello’s father was also called James. Michael was married to Ellen Hayes in the 1840’s.

There’s a great pic of James brother Thomas with his wife and kids on the Borrisoleigh.ie website

Did you ever find more about your Costellos in Blaine Kansas? I just found your post (and the replies that seemed to head away from Kansas). I have been researching Costellos/Castellos in that area, but I've started with Thomas and Julia Costello. I think they start in Ireland, go to Illinois, and end up in Blaine area. Any idea how this fits with your Cecilia?

I found your very old post today and wondered if you were successful in gathering info about the Costello family in the Blaine area. I have been researching that group also. Are you a Costello relative?

Have you been able to check the BDMs for South Australia? Or the Biographical Index?

A post on the Rootsweb South Australian mailing list at

AUS-SAGEN@rootsweb.com

might find someone researching this family.
