Daniel Courtis (h/o Elizabeth Morton)

I have seen several variation on the spelling of Courtis, I have seen it as Curtis and Courtise. I was wondering if anyone happens to have information on Daniel Courtis, who married Elizabeth Morton and together Daniel and Elizabeth had one daughter and her name was Elizabeth Courtis, who married Thomas Waring.

If anyone happens to have any information on the ancestry of Daniel Courtis, I would really like to exchange information with?

Thanks In Advance,
K.Chris Vickery

Hi John,

My great grandmother's brother was Richard Johns Courtis, but he was born in Tetcott, Cornwall in 1832. They moved to Holsworthy before immigrating to Middlesex, Ontario 1849. Is this your line? Or maybe your Richard goes back further than I have.

My great great grandparents are John and Maria Annie (Anna) Courtis. They came from Holsworthy, Devon in 1849. Sounds like the same family. Wasn't aware that they went to Westminster.

Her maiden name is Johns. They were married at North Tamerton, Cornwall in 1832, lived in Tetcott, had some children there, and then moved to Holsworthy. She was born (or rather baptized) in Treneglos.

I'm researching John Courtis now. I recently had the opportunity to travel to England and visit the places where they lived.

There is some relation to Bray in England as well but haven't established the relationship yet.

John and Maria Courtis farmed in Caradoc and are buried in Mt. Carmel cemetery in Caradoc. He was one of the first trustees of the cemetery.

My great grandmother Sarah Elizabeth Courtis was the only child born in Caradoc. The rest of the children were born in England (Tetcott and Holsworthy). She married Thomas Knight. Can't find anything out about him, except that he was born in England and his parents names were George and Mary Ann Knight.

Would be interested in communicating.

Chuck Peteson
