I have come across the Cuzens/Couzens family in Wiltshire whilst researching my London Couzens. If you look on the L.D.S site (Family Search.org) you will find Cuzens in 1600's families from Bromham, the name changes through the years to Couzens in the the late 1800's. Not all from Bromham but they all tie in. I haven't put them on my tree as I don't know yet if they will tie in to my family. I hope this helps and doesn't just 'muddy the waters'

My gt.gt.grandfather was Thomas Robert Couzens, born in Bloomsbury in 1828/9, I wonder if he is the one you are looking for. He married Louisa Georgina and had six children, my gt grandfather was the eldest, Leonard Thomas. He had three boys, the eldest was my grandfather, Leonard Frederick. He had four boys, my father was the third, George Frederick. I can't find any record of Thomas Robert's birth or parentage so have come to a halt in my research, I'm really hoping they are the same person.

Charles COUZENS married Ester NICHOLLS at the Independant Chapel in Chelmsford abt 1872. He came from a family of Chimmney Sweeps. His father was John and mother Susannah GREEN. Charles and Ester arrived in Brisbane,Q Australia on the "Quetta" on 10.12.1888. Thier address in the 1880 Census is 130 Moulsham St, Chelmsford, Essex. I do know he had one brother William as he also came to Aust. and lived near Charles. Believed he also had siblings of Thomas b.1856, Ester b.1857, Annah A b.1859, Caroline b. 1858, Louisa b.1861, Alfred b.1865. Does anybody have any info on this Couzens family?

This person could be Job, born 1766, son of Wm and Ann Cuzens, found in the parish records of Sporle, Norfolk, England (spelling of the name varies considerably in both parish and census records). I have searched the parish records for Sporle and other parishes around Swaffham, Norfolk, and there seems to have been at least one Couzens family originating from Sporle. William may (I have no proof of this) have been the son of John Couzens and Euphania Willson, married in Sporle in 1733. Thomas may also have been a son of John and Euphania.

I am interested in any info you may have re"Couzens". I live in No. California and I do not have much info. Gr grandfather was either Henry or Harry D. Couzens (also sp Cousins) m. Virginia or Jane Lucas. Lived in HI in 1911 when my grandfather Robert Knight Couzens. I learned recently that he may have been born with name of Henry or Harry and that he was a twin. I know he & gr grandmother lived in Alameda, California in 1930. She was an artist and grandfather worked for the railroad. Grandfather m. Aileen Mary Harper about 1935 in Alameda County California. Grgranmother died Jan 4, 1940 when my father James Stephen Couzens was born. He had a sister Roberta. Any info?

I found a few other things about my ancestors. Gr Grandfather was Harry D. Couzens married to Virginia or Jane? I know that gr grandfather had TB and possibly died in Arizona. Harry was an author of several fictional stories and very good friends with Jack London. Gr grandmother lived in CA (Alameda County) in 1930 with grandfather Robert K. Couzens. Anyone have any info or think possibly part of this family somewhere?

Mainly from St Lawrence, Acol, Minster so there may be a connection I am not too sure, but being such a rare name you just never know.

I am looking for existing Couzens family members for the late Colin Couzens, born 7/5/1912, in Wainwright, Alberta. He married Ruth Huggins on June 15, 1940. They had three daughters, Nansy Aeryl, Mary Suzanne, and Phyllis Lucina. Colin died on Dec. 12, 1949, when the plane he was piloting crashed in the Pocono Mts. of northeastern Pennsylvania. He and a passenger (James Rodgers of Schenectady) were on their way home to surprise their families for Christmas.

Colin was a pilot, last for the National Lead Co.in MacClenny, Florida. He had also flown for the British West Indian Airways, and in WWII for the air observer school of the RCAF in Chatham, NB.

Colin was the son of Phillip Hunting Couzens and Mae Couzens. He was brought up by his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Couzens, after his father died when he was 3. Robert and his wife lived in many places, Moosejaw, NWT; Winnipeg, Rapid City, and Newdale, Manitoba; Vancouver?, and Assinboia (?); and Saskatchewan.

His mother Mae was remarried to William Lloyd of Victoria, BC. Colin had 2 sisters, Mrs. Harold Armstrong and Mrs. Daniel Daws, both of Vancouver, BC. (one was Eleanor and the other, Phyllis).

I am writing on behalf of one of Colin's daughters, who would like to re-establish contact with her Couzens family relative. If you can be of any help please contact me by email. Queries will be held in confdence at your request. Thank you. - Mike Huggins, Irvine, CA

Don't know a place of that name, but Chatham in Kent (which is incidentally where I live) is pronounced very much the same way. Thought you might like to know that. I only looked up the board because my greatx3 grandmother's name was Eliza Rushby COSINS and there's no noticeboard with that precise spelling! Good luck with your research.
