hi stephen, thank you for your response. i got out of ancestry for a while but my wife is tracing her so i got back into it just recently. if you have any new information i would appreciate it. new information i get in this new quest i have i will share to you. The Uncle Punch was a fun piece of information. I guess we are distant cousins. are you still in WI? In Colombia (South America), we have a small group of Coy people in an specific area (Boyaca). In 18's many people from Europe (specially German people) migrated to this area looking a better life. Fortunately, we can follow our last name because we keep last family name from father and mother as well. In my case, my grand father born in 1900, his name was Alfredo Coy. I will try to find more information with my mother and aunts. Do you have information about any line who moved to South America?

My father was Robert Marshall Coy. His father was Oscar Buxton Coy (1867-1956) Then Abram R.(1827-1879)His children were: Frank Rice, Arthur C. Antonette A. and Oscar. Abrams father was Levi (1793-1831). His children were: Marshall C.,Oscar F., Levi Daniel and Abram. I can go on all the way back to Richard and beyond in England through Matthew. I saw your post. I know it is old, but maybe you still have the same email. We are third cousins. You are the 2nd great-grandson of Friedericka Schmitt Smith Gitz and Michael Gitz. I have a lot of information on Schmitt family going back to Germany. Friedericka and Emil Schmitt, my great-grandfather were siblings. I am trying to locate a photo of Friedericka Gitz. Mrs. Elizabeth Fowler

Mrs. Elizabeth Fowler, for years a resident of Cherryhill township, died on Sunday, May 5, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harvey Brickley, of Cherrytree, with whom she had made her home for about 6 years. Her death was due to old age she being 83 years and 4 months old. She had been ill for about 3 weeks. The deceased is survivied by 7 children as follows: Archie and Frank, of Indiana; Anderson, of Cherryhill; Mrs. Samuel Allison and Mrs. Harvey Brickley, of Cherrytree, and Mrs. Frank Garman and Rachael, of Tyrone. The funeral was held on Wednesday, the remains being interred in Harmony graveyard in Cherryhill township. Mrs. Fowler was a member of the First United Presbyterian church of Indiana

I have Jose Dolores De Los Santos (not sure about the Coy part) b. 1779 d. 1818, his parents were Jose Santos Coy (no other info) and Maria Barbosa (no other info). Jose's daughter was Concepcion Martinez De Los Santos b. 1804 d. 1873 (she married my 3rd great grandfather Manuel Martinez Herrera). I have Jose Dolores (Barbosa) De Los Santos (Coy) born in 1779 and died in 1818. I'm not 100% sure on those dates though. I also have Nicolas Martines DLS(Coy) born bet. 1810-1811, Jose Nicolas Cantu DLS born 6-6-1858-married Maria Herminia Rodriguez but I have nothing from them 2 down. Mercedes. I started my ancestry research beginning with my Grandfather, Nicolas Rodrigues de los Santos. For years, I heard stories that the DLS family were from the 1731 Canary Islanders from Spain. I believe Pearl may actually be Pearle. I have seen it written both ways.
I believe Wavie's name was Wavie. I did a search of "Hattie Mehuron Aldrich" and found her listed as "Wavie Lilla May Aldrich." Daughter of Mason F. Aldrich and Hattie Mehuron. This would make her the half sister of Pearl/Pearle.
This info was from doing a bing search of "Hattie Mehuron Aldrich"

Hi Elizabeth, I would love to find out what happened to Elizabeth Lily, too. Have you found out where she's buried or her death certificate? I have traced her line all the way back to Owen Tudor who was the grandfather of Henry VII of England. He was born in Wales. I have notes indicating that Wavie was the daughter of Hattie Mehuron Roby and her second husband Mason Freemont Aldrich. This would have made her Pearl's half sister. Is that right?

I still can't wrap my head around why Bertha was fostered out to the Coy's when Rodney was happily raising another family with his second wife:( Just annoys me not to know what happened to Elizabeth, his first wife. I always want to be a fly on the wall:)

I actually found this tfread while doing a search on my family, Parker, so I hope we aren't hijacking this thread here.
What I have found is this:
Pearl Jane Roby married to Ray Stearns Parker, my fathers parents.
Pearl had a sister, Wavie A. Roby, born March 04, 1913, and died January 09, 1998 in Windham,VT. Wavie was married to Clarence Nichols. I remember visiting her and she had shetland ponies that she would hook up to a wagon and give us rides.
Pearl and Wavies parents were Rodney Roby and Hattie Mahuron.
Rodney was the son of Moody Roby and Dolly Richardson.
Hattie was the daughter of Eleazar Mehuron and Mary Jane Taylor.
Some of this info came from a we search. A little from memory.
I remember being told, as a child, that Hattie or maybe it was her family was an American Indian, from a tribe from Maine.
I shot a deer in the 70's with a 1894 Winchester 35-55 that was my dad's, who got it from Pearl, who got it from Hattie.

Mary Jo, Pearl was my grandmother and actually passed away in 1966 in our home which was in Marlow, N.H. She was my grandmother and was living with us after suffering a stroke. She had been living in Keene, N.H. until then. I remember her pretty well but don't know if I have anything more that I could offer you for info or not. I use my user name at yahoo.com for email.

Mary Jane Fuller was one of nine children of David Fuller ( shown as "Mc" Fuller in the 1850 census) (1811-1868) and Elizabeth Walters (1810-1886). They were married in Fairfield County, Ohio, and moved to Elkhart County in the late 1840s. Elizabeth and David are both buried in Cornell Cemetery, Elkhart County, Indiana. David's sister Mary Margaret Fuller married Elizabeth's brother George Walters, a long time resident of Middlebury Township, Elkhart County, Indiana. My public tree includes a great many children and grandchildren of David and Elizabeth.

This could be a different person, but Clara Bell Coy, the daughter of John Wesley Coy and Elizabeth Josephine Henry (Coy), was born in Red River, Texas in 1900. She married a man named Chandler. As far as I know she had no Cherokee lineage.

My father didn't talk about his mother. It was a housekeeper with children that raised him. He said she was good to him and fair. I can understand Bertha having a bad time of it with Oscar. He was very cool and reserved. My father was wonderful, warm and loving. Must of taken after Bertha. I gave my daughter, Deb, pictures of the Coys, Oscar, Frank, Arthur, Nettie and Abigail. I have one death date of 21 August 1889, FL - this may have been a sister-in-law but I'm pretty sure is not our Elizabeth

Her parents-Stewart Lillie b.16 April 1806 Bethel, VT d.15 June 1882/1883 Cairo, IA
Hannah A. Tifft/Tefft b. 1813? VT married 1831 Pawlet, Rutland, VT d.?

I know lots about Elizabeth, just not when she died.

Pearle Jane Roby - b. 27 October 1892 d.17 August 1966 Peru, VT
1910 Census she is living in Landgrove, VT with her mother Hattie and some one named Thomas Costmuis, she lists herself as daughter but she is Hattie's daughter, not Thomas'
married Ray Sterns Parker 27 October 1910 Peru, VT
1920 Census has them living in NH

Hattie May Roby was an older sister to Fred Warren and John. I would know nothing about her except I have letters she wrote to Fred in the late 1920s. She was born 17 June 1882 according to what I have found. Her married name was Mears and she had one son George, born 25 Dec 1899.

I have family stories about Fred I can pass on off the boards. Sister Hattie seemed to think Bertha had had a hard time of it. Did your Dad remember her at all? Who raised him?

Yes, Robert was my father. You're way ahead of my research. I got only as far as Moody Roby. I'll work on Elizabeth. I think her middle or last name was Lilly. I'll let you know what I find. I didn't know of a sister called Hattie.

Yes, Fred was my Great grandfather.

Your father was Robert M. Coy, born 1903? So he was 6 when Bertha died?

Do you have any information about Elizabeth's death? I can find no record or grave. I have put up a photo of Rodney and Hattie's stone from Landgrove on the findagrave.com site.

After more research it turns out Fred and John's sister Hattie was an older sister. I couldn't figure out why she wasn't in the 1880 census but she was already out of the house.

I have John's death date as 7/26/1887 cause of death - curvature of the spine. He was listed as a farmer in Burlington.

This line of Roby's is listed all the way back to the 1490s in Castle Donegal on FamilySearch.org

I have some info on the daughter Pearle if you need that, as well.

Hattie Ella was born 1869 in Dorset, Bennington County and died 1952 in Landgrove. I hope this helps.
