Anna M Coy New Britain CT

Anna was born in New Britain CT 1823, she was raised, married and died there. She was married to James Harmon Beach. There were four children, I believe they were not all by Anna, I think James had a first wife. the children's names were Edgar H.,Charles w., Ralph James and Julia A. Ralph was my great grandfather, he married Belle Smith and had three children James Smith, Welton Coy, and my grandmother Helen Elizabeth Beach Bryan. I am having a lot of trouble finding any of Anna's family. At one time I had some information that when she and James Beach got married they had her siblings move in with them. I think both of Anna's parents passed away close together. Again I had some information on this but it for some reason has disappeared

I recently found the application papers for "Pension for ex-Confederate Soldiers" for Tandy Coy (of Franklin, Howard Co.
MO in 1915 -- then 80 years old; enlisted Keytesville, MO 1861). It is mis-filed (at least on the microfilm I was
examining, supposedly in alphabetical order) between the papers for my gggrandfather and his brother -- Joel P. His fathers name was Chauncy Coy. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. Many years ago, the Coys held a family reunion in Boone County, maybe someone knows something about this and has some family records.

Seeking info on James Coy c1807 said to be the son of Samuel Coy and Frances Page. James married Mary Polly Whorton daughter of Leonard Whorton and Elizabeth Betsy Goss on 24 Feb 1826 in Garrard Co, KY.

Mary Polly Whorton born c1804 in Spotsylvania Co, VA.

Many Coy researcher have posted that James Coy "died young." It is certain that he is NOT named as a son when Samuel Coy's land was divided into nines (1856) and shared between only six heirs.

However, James Coy might have been one of the living "un-named" heirs. James and Mary Polly seem to be in Chariton Co, MO, 1830 thru 1870. James dies between 1870 and 1880 and Mary Polly dies after 1880.

Any help with this family appreciated.
Henry Coy who married Winnie Warmoth 23 Jan 1834 in Howard Co, MO

Can anyone explain the marriage of Henry Coy to Winnie Warmoth on 23 Jan 1834 in Howard Co, MO. I have NOT seen the record but surely some Coy researcher has.

At rootsweb, Henry Coy is shown as married to Elizabeth Mason in 1834. No exact date or place has ever been posted that I see. Does any Coy researcher have the marriage record?

I have seen at rootsweb that Winnie Warmoth and Elizabeth Mason are the same person. Hard to believe.

Perhaps there were two Henry Coys? Or perhaps Winnie Warmoth died right away and Henry Coy re-married right away?

"Winnie" is a nickname for Winnifred. So I am thinking the Winnie Warmoth might have been a brother to Gathings Warmoth and a daughter to Thaddeus Warmoth and Winnifred Unknown, but this is PURE SPECULATION.

Can some Coy researcher straighten this out?

Coy family portraits-Colorado and Nebraska

The pictures are found in a Northglenn (Denver, Colorado) Antique Mall. I was there on vacation and noted these names. They gave me permission to pass them along to interested family members.
Descriptions:
1. Cabinet card of a boy about 3 years and a girl about 2 years. Identified as Ralph and Clair Coy.
2. Informal photograph of a mother with three children standing in front of a barn/shed on a ranch. Identified as Ralph, Clair, Alice (mother) and Georgia Coy. Time and place identified as Fort Collins, Colorado, c. 1911.
3. Large photograph of two men and two boys working a 4 horse team hitched abreast. Identified as Mr. O.L. Coy, Scotts Bluff, Nebraska.
4. Family group standing in front of a house with prairie and mountains visible. Identified as Ralph Coy, "Dad" O.L. Coy, Harold Coy, Georgia Coy, Clair Coy, Archie Coy in a baby buggy and mother Alice Coy.

The booth owner is JPF (initials only, I don't know their name) at the Collectors Corner Antiques in Northglenn CO.
The Mall owner is Pat Corwin and her telephone number is 303.450.2875 or email - denvercollcorner@cs.com
To aid Pat in locating these photos, you can tell her they are in TWO different plastic "baggies" in JPF's booth back near the book room.

I hope someone will be able to "take them in", as they need a good home. They are great pictures of someone's family.

Hi all,

I'm looking for information on JOHN WEBB b 15 Nov 1786, m ELIZABETH (BETSY) COY, Garrard Co. KY on 3 Feb 1814.

They had at least 4 children:
WILLIAM b about 1816 IN
ELIZABETH b 1 Jan 1818 IN
GEORGE W b 2 Jul 1825
SARAH b 20 Jan 1830, m JAMES M. SMITH 28 Oct 1845 Switzerland Co. IN, d Clinton Co. IN.

Also, if anyone knows of a connection between the COY, WEBB, and FLETCHER families I'd love to hear about it. Until today, we were under the false impression that our James M. Smith married Sarah Fletcher (his son was Samuel Fletcher Smith). In reality, he married Sarah WEBB, daughter of John Webb and Elizabeth COY. Now we're wondering where the Fletcher name came from....more mysteries yet to be solved.

Thanks,
Cornelia in California

(John Webb, Elizabeth Coy/Sarah Webb, James M. If anyone has any information, please e-mail me. My grandmother was born in 1914, so I'm guessing Daniel Coy was probably born in the 1820's or 1830's. My grandmother was born in Missouri if that helps any.
-Virginia
virginiajune@hotmail.com
Dorwin was on my fathers family tree and Hattie is on my mothers. Hattie is related to me through the Cotter and Yeakley family, Yeakley being her mothers family. Dorwin through Coy and Schnepp. I am very very interested in talking to him as I have tree's for each family and frankly, how many people share the very same family history for over 200 years. What a hoot. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it. I don't even know where to start as neither he or his cousin are listed in the phone book. Thank you very much.

Linda Morris
Phoenix, AZ

Henry W. Coye (1829-1917), son of Orin Coy and Bathsheba Rockwood

I am searching for any info on Henry W. Coy(e).

Henry W. Coye (1829-1917) was born in Northfield or Monson, Mass. (records vary), the son of Orin Coy and Bathsheba Rockwood. He moved to Rockville, Conn. in 1849, and married Carla Elizabeth Holton (c.1845-6 – after 1920). She was born in Vernon, Conn., the daughter of Roger Wolcott Holton and Mary Smith. In August 1862 Coye, by then living in Vernon, enlisted in the 25th Connecticut Infantry, Company B, and eventually rose to the rank of Sergeant.

Around the summer 1873, Coye opened a watch and jewelry store on Martha’s Vineyard, evidently in Cottage City. By 1887 he was celebrating his fourteenth season on Martha’s Vineyard in the Gazette ads for his Cottage City store.

He opened a branch jewelry store in Vineyard Haven in 1887, and built a new store in that town in 1891, which he ran until 1903, when he sold to L. Ernest Briggs. He advertised watches and watch repair, diamonds, jewelry, optical goods, clocks, and silverware. He was still listed in the Rockville and Vernon, Conn. Directories as late as 1889.

He died in Vineyard Haven, Mass.

Any help appreciated!

C. Baer
I have Coys in my family tree, but very little information on them...

My g-g-grandmother was Daisy Myrtle Coy, born Jan. 20, 1886, in North Washington, Pa. She married a Henry Hobaugh Cline, of Franklin Township/Murraysville, Westmoreland County, Pa. Their children were:

Earl James Cline
Albert
Grover
Mary Jane
James
Wilda Ellen (my g-grandmother)
unnamed son

Daisy had two brothers; Murch(man, I'm hoping that's a typo...) and George Coy. I've been told that they had been orphaned in an epidemic, and that the two boys finished raising Daisy.

Does anyone have the ancestry of Edward Coy and Amy Titus? They came to NB in 1763 and settled on the St. John River, later moving across the river to an area that became know as Coytown. The old homestead built by their son David between 1798 and 1800 is still standing. The new Trans Canada Highway passes very close to the old homestead.
