Hello Dee, Yes I am from the exact same Crayton's of Mt Holly/Camden. I did a Crayton Family History Book in 2008 and 2010, and have all of that info. I am very familiar with some of your relatives that live in Camden and El Dorado.
Hello Dee,
It appears we share a very close family connection. My Cousin Rosie is the best person to outline Crayton family relationships. With that said, I will attempt to share what I know about this family line. My great grandmother was Luvenia Crayton Utsey, she was the fourth child born to Hardy and Lucy (Branch) Crayton of Mt Holly, Arkansas. It is my understanding that Henry “Sim” was there oldest child. Henry married Elizabeth “Lizzie Cat” Walker Aug 31, 1907 in Ouachita County, Arkansas. Simmie and Lizzie Cat had four children: Naomi, George Cidney, Lucinda and Hezekiah, who was also known as Sun Cat. George Cidney, had a son, George Sidney Crayton who lived in the San Francisco Bay Area. Unfortunately, I did not meet him as he died Nov 2006 however I am in touch with his wife, Joanne. She remembered your grandmother, Doll Baby, very well.

Mt Holly, AR, Crayton family descendants are preparing for our July family reunion. If you would like more information about the reunion, feel free to contact the reunion committee at craytonfamilyreunion@yahoo.com. You asked about books regarding the Craytons of Arkansas, Rosie created a family history book in 2008 and 2010. I am very interested in learning more about your Crayton line.
Hello, my name is Dee and I am the daughter of SueVan the second of my Grandmother's seven children. My mom's mother is/was named: Lucienda Crayton, alot of Arkansas relatives called her by the nickname "Baby Doll" or "Doll". She was born in 1915, the youngest child of Elizzie "liz" Walker-Crayton and Simmie "sim" Crayton's five children. My mother Sue remembers some of the Crayton relatives she and her brothers & sisters used to visit during summer trips to Mt. Holly in the 60's. Maybe you are one of those relatives? Lucienda's family all live/lived in the San Francisco Bay Area. Lucienda passed in 2003 and unfortunately her stories about family from Arkansas was forgotten by alot of us. Do you know if there are any books regarding the Craytons of Arkansas? Grandmother Lucienda's father "Simmie" passed sometime in the 1920's I think, because I found a 1930 Census that shows "Lizzie Crayton(widow) remarried to a man named Henry Crayton. I'm not sure how "Great Grandpa Sim Crayton" is related to "Great Step-Grandpa Henry Crayton". Thanks for any info you can provide.

Sorry, this family does not seem to connect to my Craytons originally from Illinois, Kansas and Alabama. There were Crayton daughters of Thomas D and Nancy in OK in early 1900s - Martha, married to James Jackson, probably in KS; Cora Belle, married brother of James in OK; Ida, married Charlie Severe in OK. A daughter born to Thomas and Elizabeth: Millie Catherine, born in KS 1886. All OK references are in Woods Cnty.

However slim a possibility, my Crayton family and your Alexander's have Thomas and William in common. Thomas Crayton's father was William. I doubt this is any help to you but good luck.

Hi Phyllis,

My Grandmother, Minnie Mazie Journigan, married Robert Crayton from Pickens, and Robert Redmon from Pickens! Dont know much about Robert Crayton or Redmon. However, I did find RC & Minnie on the 1920 Census with their 2 boys John(my daddy) and King. Maybe Robert is related to your Tom, because I have a deceased brother whose name is Tommy Crayton. Keep me posted about your findings.

Hi Darlene:
I'm just gonna go ahead and call you "kin folk" cause there's no way the name of CRAYTON in that part of Mississippi could not be family folks. My name is Phyllis and I'm from Sunflower,Mississippi; I'm the great granddaught of a mysterious man by the name of Tom Crayton. I have researched our lineage and can't get any further than the fact that this Tom Crayton had two sets of children. One set of children was by by my great grandmother whose name was Vera Watkins; they were Mozelle, Jessie James, Pearl, Exzie, Beatrice and my grandmother Sadie. They then moved to the Delta until the the children became of age and chose their directions. Exzie became a teacher and retired in the Grenada School District until her death. Beatrice moved to Virginia opened a restuarant and died in Pennsylvania and Jessie James lived and died in Tupelo, MS., my grandmother was a housekeeper and Insurance Agent for the Delta Burial Corporation until her death and Pearl the youngest of them all is the only living child from this family. She lives in Clarksdale, Mississippi.
The other set of children were Arthur, Potts, K.C and one that went by name of Buddy. There is no living children as of today. I don't know their mother's name. What I have found out is that they were both from the same area or Beat as it was termed during that time.
