I grew up around the corner on Douglass St. Have you seen the Cripps-Kehoe family tree I put together? If not I can send to you. Any info you can send on the Kehoe family would be GREATLY appreciated. I don't have much on that side. Here is my email: tdewey@cfl.rr.com. Phone is 352.208.5140. I live in Ocala Florida.

My great grandparents were Regina Rath Kehoe & Martin Kehoe, whom you mention in your post. They had 2 daughters, Mary Regina, (known as "Mae") & my grandmother, Wilhelmina, (known as "Minnie", but also as Mary Helen). The girls had 3 half brothers from Regina's 1st marriage: Henry, John &Frederick Blaich. They all lived at 57 Wyckoff St., Brooklyn, NY. Mae later lived there for many years after she married & had her family. I have some ather info on the Kehoe connectio, but not the Cripps. Feel free to contact me.
Carol F.

Thanks to our Great Grandfather, Zenith, this is very confusing...but here goes...We share the same Great-Grandfather, Zenith and your Great-Grandmother Nancy Rhody, but in a different way. Nancy Rhody was my Great-Grandmother(Mattie, sometimes called Martha) sister. So she was my Dad's Aunt. Mattie Rhody (my Grand-mother married Zenith's son, Peter Alonzo from his marriage to Margaret Carder (Carter)not sure but think that was his first marriage of many. Your Grandfather, Roy, was my Grandfather's 1/2 brother on one side of the family and my Grandfather's cousin on the other side (Rhody) If I have this cousin, Aunt, etc. wrong, let me know. My High School English teacher was Walter Lee Cathcart (he was my Dad's English Teacher, also) and he told this story in Class and I wanted to hide... So sounds like my brother and I are related to you on both sides of the family. I do have a pictue of my Dad (Carnell) on my Facebook page (Judy Bray-Pueblo, Colorado. I'm not sure, but I think that makes me my own Grandpa! Ha

Zenith was also my great-grandfather. Roy Cripps was my grandfather. His mother was Nancy Rhody who was 15 when she married Zenith and he was 52 (I think it was after your great-grandmother died or maybe the one before). Do you happen to have any pictures you could share? I have put a picture of Zenith and Nancy up on my website but as far as I know there is no pictures of his other wives or children (with the exception of Les which might have been in your grandfather's siblings). What have you found out, anything? Zenith was apparently a go getter since he was married 6 times.

I don't know anything about the Tennessee line branching off to Texas in coming back. From my research, my line came from England, landed in NC or SC, holed up in SC till pass the Revolutionary War (with one Cripps getting arresting for helping the rebels with goods from his store), then moving on to TN. My Great Grandfather moved from there to Oklahoma, but as for his brothers and sisters, I don't know what became of them.

The other earlier lines that I know of, landed in PA, and OH. There might have been at least one in Canada, too. Whether those all are related closely back in England before then, I haven't found anything about that. Stymied on that point.

I have heard that story before and it is in a book that I saw once in the Dekalb Co., TN. library. Never heard about the saddle and gun but it is told about the spelling variation on the name. John joined the Confederate Army and was the one that dropped the "p". His brothers Zene and Thomas joined the Union army. My great-great grandfather was Thomas Cripps.

I am a Cripps from middle Tennessee and have always been told that all Cripps families are related. The story goes that we come from 3 brothers from Texas and that they each had something they passed down. One had a saddle, one a gun and i do not know the third. Also I am told that during the Civil War one brother was on the opposite side as the other two and dropped a "p" (Crips) to distinguish himself. Has anyone else heared these stories??

Re: Victor Cripps from Minnitaki, Ontario (married Sarah Finlayson)

I have found records proving that Victor Cripps was my father also. I found out also that I don't think he was married to Sarah Finlayson also spelled Finelson. I found a marriage certificate that he was married. If you want to get in touch with me I could send them to you.

Charlie Cripps -Foster - Sear(s) connection Hertfordshire ENG

My mother says her grandmother Emily Charlotte Sear Foster was also either married to or living with a Charlie Cripps. Her "other" husbands name was Charles Foster. They are all from Hemel Hempstead, Herts, ENG, UK. Emily, known as Charlotte or Lottie was born in the 1870s. She had 8 children with Foster as their surname.

Any light you might be able to shed on this would be greatly appreciated!
