To: Bembridgebun. The info I have, although unconfirmed, is that Sarah Collier (1745-1804)was christened at Yateley Hants on 2 June 1753. She was the daughter of James Collier and Ann Smiggs. She was buried at Micheldever 29 March 1804.

To : Holly09. Many thanks for the information. Do you by any chance have any information about where Sarah Collier came from? Her name suggests the remote possibility of an early link between my paternal and maternal lines.

To: Bembridgebum. The info I have on Thomas Crockford 1804 is that he was the son of George 1763-1828 and Elizabeth Smith who married 23 May 1801. All records I can find on George say that he was born at Micheldever the son of George c1730 and Sarah Collier who married Micheldever 11 Nov 1760. The only George Crockford I can find born c1730 is one christened at Farnham in 1728!I have not recorded any of this against Thomas 1804 as I believe that his father George 1763 may have been the son of John Crockford 1721 EM. If this is correct, then he would have been the nephew of Francis Crockford 1723 (Great-Grandfather of Thomas 1813). My wife is the Grand-daughter of Ellen Crockford 1875 who is of the same line. Regards. Gerald.

CROCKFORD, Anne (Annie) May. Born 1877 East Meon, Hampshire

Anne (Annie) May Crockford one of Harry Crockfords 17 children married Arthur Robert Godbold Mar 1896 Ipswich. He died ABT 1901. They had children Joyce, Annie Joyce, Reginald, Arthur Reginald. I am unable to trace them. The girls I believe moved to Canada.

Annie then married William Jennings Dec 1901 at Tendring - he also died 1909 leaving children Violet Maude Jennings b 1903 Tendring and William Frank Jennings b1905 Tendring. Again I am unable to find any information about them. Were they adopted?

After this she somehow became a nurse and moved to Chipping Sodbury area. 1919 she was with Frank Morris and may have married him but there is no record of this. 1922 Frank John Henry Morris was born in Axminster, Devon to Frank Morris and Annie but his birth cert gives her name as CRAWford not CROCKford. Was this an error or had she re-married?

If anyone has any information about Annie, her hasbands or her children please contact me.

My family have many Crockfords. The main part is 1800 - 1900 and were from East Meon and the Petersfield area of Hampshire. Some moved to Norfold then Somerset. Search for Harry Crockford b1852 - it should take you to my tree. I would love to hear from anyone else who has information about the descendents of Harry Crockford as my Grandmother Anne (Annie) Crockford b1877 was one of his 19 children. There must be dozens of living relatives!

I have just found in an old attic a booklet of drawings by a lady named Florence Crockford. The drawings are from septembre 1870 or 1890 - pretty difficult to read. Can it be the lady about whom you're looking for information ? Her drawings show landscapes in the western part of France (holidays ?) such as Dinan. A drawn flower is subtitled ' First attempt ' ! A few children faces, too. Any interest for you ?
Bertrand / bertrandduchambon@free.fr
Re: Need Help with CROCKFORD Family Tree

Hi Gemma,
I don't know if this will help, but I have Crockfords in my family. They were ribbon weavers in Coventry. My grandmother was Caroline Cooper before she married. Her mother was Caroline West and her mother was Caroline Crockford who was as I believe the daughter of George and Maria Crockford who were married in 1822 at Corley near Coventry. Some time in the 18th century a crockford married a Leppard. Both names appeared to have survived in what appears to be a large extended family. The name Leppard appears as a middle name with some of the men.
There was a company in Birmingham called Crockford Grove and Louder. The made funeral furnishings (whatever they might be. They also seemed to have another business making shirts and gloves. I need to do more work on the Crockfords. There is also a link in Florida, but eh gentleman has not contacted me for some time. He was elderly and may have passed away. His father was Percy Crockford from Coventry. Contact me if you think thi might be your branch. There was also a gentleman's gambling club in London in the 19th Century by the name of Crockfords known as Crockys. Hope this is helpful.
Val
Hi Rob, I am attaching a photo of the postcard. On the right-hand pillar by the stone wall, you can barely make out the numbers 118. Just above the numbers are the words; "Capstone Villa". It is hard to make out on the scan but on the original postcard you can see the words pretty clearly.

Crockford from Ilfracombe, Devon, England

I have come into possession of a real photo post card showing a woman standing on doorstep of house. On the stone entry gate it reads; "Capstone Villa, number 118". I did a search on Google for "Capstone Villa" and a page came up from Gen UKI, a geneology page for United Kingdom & Ireland. The page was for White's Devonshire Directory of 1850 for Ilfracombe, and listed an address under Lodgings for Mary Crockford - Capstone Villa. Card clearly shows a woman, the house, front gate and part of sidewalk in front. Contact me if you have any family interest in this item.
Sarah CROCKFORD (FLEET): bn c1823 Titchfield, Hampshire, ENG

I am looking for information about Sarah CROCKFORD, born about 1823 in Titchfield, Hampshire, England. I am not certain of her place of birth. The 1851 to 1881 censuses state she was born in TITCHFIELD, Hampshire, but in the 1891 Census, Salisbury, Wiltshire is listed for her place of birth. I am interested in learning who her parents were and when and where she was born. The IGI has nothing definitive for the time period.

She married George FLEET in Fareham in 1850, and they had the following children:

1. John FLEET, b. 1850, Fareham, Hampshire, m. Mary Ann SHAWYER
2. William FLEET, b. 1852, Titchfield, Hampshire, m. Rosetta SHAWYER
3. Mary Ann FLEET, b. ab. 1858, supposedly in Titchfield, m. Alfred SHAWYER
4. Henry FLEET, b. 1857, Titchfield, Hampshire, m. Mary Ann WHITSEY
5. Harriet FLEET, b. 1862, Titchfield, Hampshire, m. William Thomas MATTHEWS

Sarah CROCKFORD Fleet died in Titchfield, Hampshire in 1891. Her age at death was 68.

Any help greatly appreciated.
