Crow Wood Connection?
I have made the unpardonable mistake of taking notes on my Crow line and stuffing them in a file without a source. If you also have this info, and know the source, please reply. If not, maybe you can use it as a hint for additional research.

The first clip:Isreal Crow (b. 1753) and wife Margaret had a son Richard Crow (1772-1826) who married Elizabeth Wood (b. 1769 in VA and d. 1842 in VA). Elizabeth's parents were John Wood and Elizabeth Crow of Greene County, PA. Elizabeth Crow's parent were Jacob Crow and Susannah Seacrist.

Second clip (which conflicts with the first): Thomas Crow (b. 1745) had a son Richard Crow who married Elizabeth Wood (1769 -1842). They had children Henry (1801), Ruth (1804), Elizabeth H. (1805) and Margaret Jane (1813).

The above is unsourced and may or may not be correct. Please don't pass it around until it's verified and sourced.

SILVER GROUP-CROW-DNA-CLARKE COUNTY, GEORGIA???

One set of my 2-great grandparents were James Crow married 1846, Clarke county, Georgia, to Frances Mary Ann Allen. Do a search on this message board under my married name,Cates, to find my previous postings on this family on this message board. My line comes from their daughter, Amanda, who married P. C. Toole on the first page of the first marriage record in the new Oconee County, Georgia.
Now thanks to two Crow Cousins who found me through this message board last year we have a DNA match to the "silver" DNA Group at FamilytreeDNA from the company web site in Houston. Test number 229415 for James "Jim" Crow/e b. c. 1827 and lived in Clarke County, Georgia. He has matched the silver Crows which I am presuming are the Clarke County, Georgia, bunch. He has been a "stone wall" for years. Now that we have him in the right "family" we still do not have his parents names because of the lack of records in Clarke County, Georgia.
I am now open to any ideas of who his parents were and his exact family connection.
I am interested in corresponding with anyone who has documented "paper work/trails"on the earlist generations of this family. I have had for years a copy of the 1963 Crow Book by William Reginald Crow of the group that went to Louisiana. At one time I e-mailed back and forth with one of his relatives who were revising his book, but that was a computer crash ago or so.
One of these newly found cousins actually lives very near Athens, Clarke County, Georgia. Being originally from Georgia and having several Clarke County connections, I have actually been to the University Library and to the courthouse at least twice. Just have not been able to find the missing link for my connections. Open to ideas and location missing records. Clarke County records are fairly complete. My James Crow just did not leave any. He apparently worked as a Carpenter/mechanic in the Mills and did not own his land that I can find.
Vivian Toole Cates, Alto, Texas 1-936-858-3801
Elizabeth Lydia Crow md. William Lewis Walker in Ross Cty, Ohio

For everyone researching Lydia Crow who married William Lewis Walker in Ross County, Ohio on Jan 3, 1833, please contact me.

1. I want to find out where the name Elizabeth came from first of all. I have no record of this. It is hard to believe that there would be two Elizabeths in the family.

2. Everyone is showing her parents as Elizabeth and James Crow. Can you document this?

I have the 1850 Census in Pike County, Ohio that shows Elizabeth Crow in H/H 1593 with her daughter Elizabeth Hughes and children. (Elizabeth Crow md. Willis Hughes in Pike County in 1836)

In H/H 1596 is John and Mary (Smith) Crow and their children.
In H/H 1957 is William and Lydia (Crow)Walker and their Children.

I am a descendant of John and Mary. I need proof! Help!

There is a DNA study that the Crow families have donated their DNA for genetic testing to determine which family line they have descended from. Silver is just a color code given to this particular line of Crow Descendants. For instance: I am classified as the Brown group.

If you want to participate or learn more about it, go to:
http://www.familytreedna.com/

Enter in the Crow name and follow the directions.

The National Register of Historic Places is the official list of the Nation's historic places worthy of preservation.

Authorized by the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the National Park Service's National Register of Historic Places is part of a national program to coordinate and support public and private efforts to identify, evaluate, and protect America's historic and archeological resources.

WEEKLY LIST OF ACTIONS TAKEN ON PROPERTIES: 12/19/11 THROUGH 12/23/11

KEY: State, County, Property Name, Address/Boundary, City, Vicinity, Reference Number, NHL, Action, Date, Multiple Name

NORTH CAROLINA, CLEVELAND COUNTY,
Shiloh Presbyterian Church Cemetery,
Elm St., .9 mi. Shiloh is one of the oldest cemeteries in old Lincoln County, North Carolina and in old York County, South Carolina.

Family names represented at the Old Shiloh Burying Ground are: Christmas, Crow, Dillingham, Dover, Etters, Estress, Gordon, Hambright, Hardin, Harry, Holmes, Howser, McCarter, Morrow, Patterson, Price, Randall and Williams.

Shiloh is now under the wing of the Historic Shelby Foundation for tax-deductible contributions for the restoration (repair) of this very historic cemetery. There is great need for major maintenance of the cemetery and grave marker repairs for these ancestors.

Will you help with a contribution to save Shiloh out of respect for our family roots and for the cemetery as a whole?

http://www.historicshelby.org/HSF-Shiloh(ol3).pdf

Find A Grave
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=21...
He is very interested in learning more about our family..he is an only child and it's harder to stay in touch when you move away (we live in Nashville). And it is the stories that are so interesting..not just the dates but HOW they lived. I am trying to catch up on what your side of the family has already discovered and from what I have read so far, Mary's life WAS interesting..is there a place that puts her story all together? I mean, like how she even got "on & off" the trail of tears?

I sent a message to Debra just today telling her that I showed the pic to my dad and he immediately picked out his grandfather, Howard Henry, as the 3rd from left. He also "thinks" that the one in the overalls is Charles, "Buster's" dad. Apparently my grandfather and Buster were really good friends, as well as cousins.

I would be glad to send you the handwritten notes and/or put you in contact with my dad. He is 72 and just lost his mother at the age of 97 this past November. Debra and I are related on both maternal and fraternal sides of my grandfather's family! If you have a fax#, ph#, address, you could send it to me in a private message. You could also ask Debra about me..I"m sure she would vouch for me as a legit family member!

Yes, Debra is my cousin Judy's daughter. She has also done a lot of research on our family. The hand written notes sound very interesting, esp. since they come from a Family Bible. Can you come up with any of the names in Albert's
pic with his sons? Looks like Howard & Viola were siblins.
Is your father still living?I If so ask him all the questions about family that you can come up with. I am 76 & have just lost my brother & sister in the last several months.

Hi!
So you and my father are the same generation! I am just now getting back into this research and have recently been in contact with Debra, which is where I saw the Albert Crow family picture. I am descended from Howard Henry's son Kenneth Melton (Fuzzy) Crowe and my dad, Keith Crowe, was known as Sapo..funny how I never asked how they got those nicknames! I have some handwritten notes copied from a family bible in 1939 I think, that lists some details about Albert and it includes the name Viola Crow Millikan.

My dad is the son of Kenneth Melton Crowe, grandson of Howard Henry Crow(e), great grandson of Albert. The only thing I can find on Albert's father is that the death certificate shows Fredas or Fridas Crow as his father. Somewhere along the way I also have in my notes that Albert's father is Dr. Daniel Crow.

John L. Crowe

I pursued John L. Crowe for a while and became frustrated that I could not determine whether he was first married to Eliza Lanier or Eliza Wildblod. There was evidence for both. If anyone has any information on the John Crowe family, please forward or email me.
