No worries about the questions, I am happy to answer them, well on a basic level for now. For further information I would feel more comfortable if you contacted me directly by email. My email is Steamrolr5@aol.com and my name is Matthew and yes I do still live in the States, currently in Chicago. In regards to the pictures I would hope we have some, though I wouldn't be able to scan them until a later date, but I will look into that. Also I would love to hear/see the information you have on my great grandfathers side of the family. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks for your reply. We certainly have the right George Crowe so it looks like we are related. He would have been my great uncle and he was born in London, I have traced his family back quite a bit, I wasn't sure about his wife but now you have given me a name for her, I can trace their marriage. I have been trying to find someone related to him for ages and now, on the centenary of the Titanic, thanks to you, I have found a relative. Do you still live in America? Do you have any photos of George or his family? My name is Kath, what's yours? Sorry for all the questions but I am so pleased to hear off you.

kath@kathjones.wanadoo.co.uk

Yes George Crowe was born in England, possibly London or Liverpool and then moved to the states. However he married Lidia/Lydia Catherine who was also British, not sure about her maiden name though. My great grandfather was the steward on the Titanic, so if you are sure that he was your mothers cousin or uncle then most likely we are related and yes I was born in the US.

Hi Tracy,

Thank you for your reply, unfortunately this is not the same Hanora. Crowe is her maiden name. Not saying that she couldn't be related to James in some way. However, I know that Hanora came to the United States from Ireland abt. 1850-1854. According to the 1900 Census she had been in the country for 46 years. She married Dennis Cummins(Cummings) also from Ireland, County Cork, in Dubuque Co. Iowa. USA in 1863. It is so very difficult to find information on either one of them. In some of our census she has a birthyear anywhere between 1830-1837. Dennis has a birthyear anywhere between 1821-1826. I know that both came over separate. I've been searching thru old baptism records and any records I can retrieve. Which for Ireland is very far and few. Well maybe if you have any relatives in the united states I can help you out. So again Tracy thank you for your reply.

Maria Escanaba Michigan USA

Hi, great to hear from you. Did your great Grandfather marry a Julia King? The George Frederick Crowe that I have been researching was born in London and my mother was born in Liverpool. I can remember her saying that George was either her cousin or uncle. I have traced his family back here in England but can't find anything about him going to America. My mother told me that he was a steward on the Titanic and later emigrated to america where he later got married. Are you american? It would be great if we were related. I live in Wales.
Regards, Kath

I'm seeking information about Nellie Crowe b: July 1892 around the Yorkshire area of England. Her parents were Harry Crowe and Alice (not sure of Alice's maiden name).

In 1914, Nellie married a man named William Johnson b: 3 Sep 1892 of Sheffield. They had two children: Herbert b: 1914 and Maude b: 1915.

In 1920, William Johnson arrived in the U.S. with the two children, but not his spouse. The address listed on travel records was 82, Cardigan Mount Leeds.

I know William Johnson married another woman in the Niles, MI area in 1921. I can't find a divorce decree between Nellie (Crowe) Johnson and William, or any records to indicate what happened to her after William left with the kids.

Can you help?

I belive that his father was called William Crowe. I hope this may help. I was very close with my granfather, Ernie up until his death in 1994 (from memory, I think it was then) Although I must say that he did not have fond memories of his childhood, of which he spoke little.
If you have since found any further information would you please let me know.
Kind Regards- Will Jones
Hi,

I don't know if we are related, but my great, great, grandfather Michael Crowe was born ca 1838-39 in Dublin, Ireland. The only info I have on his family in Ireland comes from the marriage register of St Peter's Priory Liverpool, Lancashire, England where his marriage on 15 Sept 1861 to Mary Ann Morris of Acton, Tressell, and Bednall, Stafford, England was recorded and it shows his father's name is either Malachi or Malachy Crowe. I am wondering if you came across any Malachi or Malachy Crowe from Dublin, Ireland in this book on the Crowe Family Tree.

I've seen this book mentioned in several other posts is this a library reference book or is it available through a bookstore? I'd love to look through this book if possible.

Thanks Maria

Looking for information on great, great grandfather Michael Crowe born in Dublin, Ireland ca 1838-39 who immigrated to England and married Mary Ann Morris of Acton, Tressell and Bednall Stafford, England. The marriage register from St Peter's Priory, Liverpool, England shows his father as Malachi or Malachy Crowe. After the birth of his first son John M Crowe he then left England to fight for the Union in the American Civil War and on his return late 1865 he and Mary had 3 more children Joseph 1866-1947, Margaret 1869-1935, and Michael 1871-1933 and after the birth of his son Michael he returned to the U.S. with his oldest son John M Crowe arriving on 27 May 1873 in Boston, Mass where he would greet his wife Mary and the 3 youngest children on 6 Oct 1873.

After Mary disembarks there is a gap in the family info from Oct 1873 until 1885 when Mary and the 3 youngest children show up on the 1885 census for Providence, RI which shows Mary as HEAD of the family. Where the family was during those 12 yrs; also when & where Michael Crow died & was laid to rest along with the where abouts of John M. Crowe are a mystery to the family. Any info on this family will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

William Crowe and Bridget Crowe (Curran)

I am looking for more information about my great-grandparents named William and Bridget. William was born around 1852 in New York City (I think) and married Bridget in or around 1882. They eventually moved to Chicago Il. and raised a family there. Bridget was born around 1865 and immigrated from Ireland around 1878. Her maiden name was Curran. I can't seem to find any more info on them to continue to go back and find out who their parents, siblings etc. were. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I hope it is not too late; but are there any connections from anyone in this section to Ann CROWE born Elwick Hall, Durham early to mid 1800s married John or James MOORE. Had one child at least. John or James MOORE born ABT 1847 thought to be Scotland (oral family history only). That son married Margaret Jane Henry. Any connections or inforamtion - happy to share what I have.
