I would gladly pay for any and all documentation that you have for the marriages/births/deaths/wills of her line from Juan De Cuevas and Marie Helene Ladner to Juan Joseph Cuevas and wife Eugenie Ladner to Josephine and John Mauffray and so on. If I had $200 to buy the World Collection I would.

My son pays for my US Collection on ancestry.com.
My savings are not high enough to purchase at this time.

I guess you mean Victoriano CUEVAS died in 1933.
No Edmonton is in Greater London, Middlesex. Are you able to view my family tree? You will see the Ceuvas clan stemming from him there.

I don't know much about Victoriano Cuevas, other than he was born in Madrid in 1851 and died in England in 1833 and he was my great great grandfather. I have a photo which I think is him but this isn't confirmed. This is the photo that I think you have uploaded from someone else (which I gave to them) but I just wanted you to know I am not 100% sure it is a picture of Victoriano.

How does he appear in your family tree? I have been trying to find out more about him.

I know that he was married twice. Once to Carmen, they had 2 children Joseph and Margurite, he had Joespeh when he was only 13!. He was then married to Agnetta and they had Katherine, Maria, Victor and Victoria. They also had Edith who sadly died very young. I think she was not even 1 years old.

We have semitic origins must probably jewish. I have a friend from Adjuntas and he is my genetic cousin though my Cuevas is from Lares and Utuado.

Hello Cuevas,
I’m Esteban Cuevas, and I am into genetic genealogy. My Cuevas branch is from Puerto Rico, and most probably our Cuevas came from the Canary Island and Majorca. Decendants from the Cuevas that migrated there from the Seville, Andalusia,Spain. According to my genetic genealogy our Cuevas branch is of semitic origin carring the genetic marker group J2. High probability of Jewish ancestry if u do a quick internet research under Cuevas and Jewish. Variant names are “de Cuevas” , de las Cuevas, and de la Cueva. Since Cat Island, Juan de Cuevas came from Seville, Spain. I wonder if the two Cuevas branches are related. I hope any male Cuevas from Cat Island is interested in genetic genealogy.
Apreciado primo Sergio,
I'm Esteban from the Cuevas of Puerto Rico. According to FTDNA's (Familytreedna.com) data bank, the Cuevas from Mexico are of European ancestry. However Mexico is a huge country...The Cuevas in PR have tested of semitic ancesty, but a genealogical dna test can shed more light on your family history..I would do at least the 37 point genealogican dna test. Good luck Sergio...

Hola Ivette, In a book I have titled "Lares en su Historia" by Che Paralitici it has a Bernabe Pol Segarra and a Andres Pol Segarra listed as members of Centro Bravo (1867) the group in Lares that was part of the takeover of the town from spanish control. After the takeover on Sept 23 1868 which only lasted a few days it has Bernabe Pol Segarra listed as Ministro de Gobernacion. The book also says the first mallorquin to establish himself in Lares was Pablo Francisco Buenaventura Ignacio Pol Vidal who lived in el Pepino first and than moved to Lares, on the 5th of October 1825 he married Maria Antonia Segarra Borrero He was best known as Pablo Pol and was born 15th of January 1782 in Palma, Mallorca and was the son of Pedro Onofre Pol Vequerisas and Margarita Vidal Frau. Their children where Andres y Bernabe whom are best known for their participation in "El Grito de Lares"; Maria Isidora who married Jose Maria Torres Medina; and Francisca who married Luis Vilella anoter mallorquine who owned a commercial business. This book is now out of print so it will be hard to find. I bought it in the Lares museum. If you would like a copy of these pages let me know. Enrique A Gandarillas.

Hi Helena, I am glad to hear you got to visit Puerto Rico for the first time. I finally found my grandmother's birth certificate. She was born Maria Adelina Cuevas Rivera on August 22, 1893 in Bartolo, barrio de Lares. Her father is listed as Avelino Cuevas Centeno from Lares and her mother Vicenta Rivera Hernandez from Maricao, PR. Avelino's parents are listed as Ignacio Cuevas y Jacinta Centeno both from Lares. Vicenta's parents are Juan Rivera y Azuncion(?) Hernandez both from Maricao. As far as I know no one from Lares hates America in my circle of friends and family. :{ Enrique.

Hi Enrique,
I just got back from Puerto Rico last Wednesday visiting my uncles and aunt and their families, Arecibo. I also traveled other places, but did not have time to stop by Utuado and Lares. I just sent email and hope my cousin would remember to ask her father (my uncle - my mother's brother) if he knows who is Pura Cuevas. I spoke with my other cousin in Chicago and he asked his father. He does not know who Pura is. He said there are many Cuevas in Utuado, but it does not mean we are related. Oh well. Let's see because of deafness running in family, it is possible. Right? By the way, it is my first time visiting Puerto Rico. I met some deaf Puerto Ricans at Starbuck in San Juan. We chatted for a while. I learned that Lares citizens hate America. Is that true? Just asked. :)
Helena

Im from the Cuevas of Utuado and rumors are they were from the Canaries, but maybe they were wrong and was the Baleares Islands instead of the Canaries. Many Spaniards from Mallorca had Jewish Ancestry and I know one Cuevas from Adjuntas has Semitic Ancestry. In which data bank did you find the information?
Im from the Cuevas of Utuado and the information that you have is correct. Cuevas are from San Sebastian, Lares, Utuado and Adjustas. At least for what I know from the first 3 towns they come from one root (sepa). Yes Tabaco was planted. My family had a small farm where tabaco was planted. Mother was Isabel Cuevas-Cuevas. Her parents were related. I hear from a Cuevas from Adjuntas that the Cuevas were from the Canary Islands. However there is a post here that says some Cuevas came from Mallorca. The Canaries or Mallorca may expalin semitic origin of the Cuevas. Check Cuevas on Familytreedna.com Some Cuevas from PR have semitic ancestry.
i hope that this is still open...this story has been handed down from generation to generation in our family...my name is rowena alagaban cuevas and my married name is rowena cinco.

according to my father (Laurentino G. Cuevas):

there were 3 Cuevas brothers brought by a priest from Mexico to the Philippines particularly settling in Samboan, Cebu...one of them is Juan Cuevas who married Bernardina...they have the following sons : Agustin, Luis, Ubaldo, Francesca, Jose and Mariano...there were other children but we dont know them...

my father is one of the sons of Jose Cuevas ( son of Juan) and we have recently reconnected with a grandchild of Agustin ( Juan's eldest son)....according to the grandson of Agustin ( Rito Cuevas) the three brothers brought by the priest to the Philippines actually came from Spain...

now we would like to know if anyone recognizes the name Juan Cuevas who was brought to mexico and then eventually brought by a priest to amboan Cebu, Philippines

any info would be greatly appreciated since my family is planning a trip to Spain next year

thank you

Rowena A. I know my grandfather and his brothers migrated to the US at a young age. I know a couple of my grandfathers brother had a second family in and we have never met them. My grandfather would have been in his late 70's if he was still alive. Most of the elders have passed away but I will dig in a little more for you.
