Looking for source information for Arche Archibald Cunningham of Fife, Scotland (1554-1580). He appears in thousands of member trees and is purportedly the son of William Cunningham (6th Earl of Glencairn). Does anyone have source information to support this connection to William?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

AS far as I can tell James could have been related to my Father, Hugh Haley Cunningham B: 1915, in Nebraska. Father was Ruben there was a brother James listed on 1930 census. I am trying to locate Hugh, who was living in Knights Landing CA, in 1940, and registered for draft in 1942 while in Southern CA. I do no know if this is the Hugh Cunningham I seek.

Do you have any knowledge of this person

Hi -- I'm trying to find out whether any descendents of this line (preferably, Alexander > Hugh > Edward) has had DNA testing done. Our Dakin ancestor is actually a John Cunningham from Marshall Co., WV, whose mother's name is Daken; he is reputedly the son of a John Cunningham, and this line appears to be the most likely. We've joined the Cunningham Y-DNA project, but gotten no Cunningham matches, but that project doesn't appear to have any members from this line, based on what has been posted about the patriarchs. My brother and I have also done the FamilyFinder test, but haven't been able to trace any "distant cousin" matches back to this line. If any confirmed descendent of this line has DNA results, we could confirm the ancestry of "our" John Cunningham.

I don't know what else I can add. James was born 31 July 1791 in Dutchess Co., NY. married Phebe Cunningham 1813 Westchester Co., NY. She's the daughter of Benjamin Cunningham and Mercy Youngs from Orange Co., NY.
Hi,

Just saw your post. My husband's ancestor is John Cunningham from Orange County NY, late 1700's. He went from there settling in Camillus/Van Buren NY. My husband's line went from there to Elmira NY, then in 1867 went to Homer, MI, and in 1880 settled in Dakota Territory. My husband grew up in North Dakota. You are the first person in a long time that I have come across looking for Orange County Cunningham information. I have not come across your ancestor's name in my research but that doesn't mean there is no connection. Please contact me. Dorothy

Alexander CUNNINGHAM, Buried 14th April 1832 in Cemetorio dos Ingleses, Gamboa, Rio de Janeiro. This inofrmation comes directly from the original burial register and supports Richard K Evans, in his book on the ancestors of Diana, Princess of Wales, on page 27, displays nr.102 Alexander Cunningham as having died 13 April 1832 in Rio de Janeiro. Some tend to think this date occurred at a different time.

Darleith

My maiden name is Cunningham. In searching for my Greatgrandfather, James Knox Polk Cunningham family, I believe we have found him living with W.A.W. Cunningham, 1860 census, Arkansas. no clue if W.A.W. was his father. Found Nehemi Cunningham,1618-1690, and his father William 1600 Ireland- died 1641 in York,VA. Traced the family back to 1100's William's father was listed as Joseph Cunningham 1568-1637. Nehemi's son James Cunningham 1693-1743 Born in VA. Trying to remember all this off the top of my head. Please write to me directly. Thanks Darleen

I am looking for descendants of David Cunningham b. 1607? who married Rachel Bruce. I think his son was Alexander Cunningham b. 1663? who I think married Beatrix Sinclair in 1685 in Athelstaneford, East Lothian, Scotland. Also I am not sure who James Cunningham's (son of Alexander Cunningham and Beatrix Sinclair) wife was but I think it was Janet Doughtie? and also his son David's birth date but I think it was 1714? David Cunningham (b.1714?) had a son called David (b.1746 in Prestonpans, East Lothian, Scotland) who married Agnes Aitcheson. Our Cunningham's come from East Lothian in Scotland.

I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your help, please email me at connor.venmore@hotmail.co.nz
I am happy to exchange any information on my Cunninghams.

I am trying to find birth, marriage and death records for Cunninghams in North Ireland before 1800. Where would they be available?
Specifically, I am trying to find information on Elizabeth Cunningham whose parents were Richard Cunningham and Mary Gay.
Richard's parents were John Cunningham and Susan Cochrane.
I have no dates but a death date for John Cunningham d. 1732 whose wife was Margaret McConnell. This John was the Father of the above John who was married to Susan.

Cunningham Scotland to Lincolnshire

I come from a long line of northern Lincolnshire Cunningham, back to William Cunningham, who died in Clee in 1624 and was first mentioned there in 1606. The family name is obviously Scottish, does anybody have any idea, what would have brought Scots to a remote part of Lincolnshire at this time in history. They were not wealthy it seems. His son became a husbandman.
thank you

If by chance you see this, I came across a Patrick age 49, Wife Margaret age 40 and their son John age 3 on an 1850 along with another John age 40 on an 1850 census in NYC while. This trio would be from Ireland and they had Boarders with the surnames (transcribed version) Donney, Boyle and Reenan. I believe Donnay may be Downey and Reenan is Ronan which is the name I am researching. Could this be your Cunningham family?
