Don't know anything about Henry, but I am interested in more information about Honore. Is he the son of John Cyr from Winnipeg Manitoba? If so do you know if John 's son Alfred was married, and if so to whom? I am looking for Alfred Cyr from Winnipeg who would be born around 1880's and died around 1945. Any help would be appreciated.

To all you users do not give up. I was able to locate my fathers family. And thanks to Jean I was able to learn alot about him. I now have pictures and an actual tape of his voice. This is the greatest gift anyone could have given me. Even though it took over 20 years it was worth it. Thank you to the Cyr family for reaching out to me and my brother.

I will have to dig out some old files to see if I do have any info. However, I doubt I do as I am of a different lineage. My family moved to the Montreal area then down into the USA. Whereas Frank's family didn't. So we are probably 8th or 9th cousins with a little removal involved.

The have lived in the same geographic area at the same time but so far, nothing. I have found a link in Louis Hebert, b. 1575 in France, d. 1627 in Canada, six generations from Albert St. Cyr, but not The Albert St. Cyr. That is all I have...... Wenda

Hi Rex,
I'm going off a list from my Aunt Lisa Cyr Logan. It's not that accurate. My Aunt Donna Lee Ross did a family tree years ago, she's living in Hawaii now, going to check with her on this.
As young girl,Eva Celilia Cyr worked for a wealthy miner in Leadville Co. We think it may have been Molly Brown.
best,
Perri

I just noticed your tree online. I was looking at a different Eva. I see your related to a Eva Celilia Cyr daughter of Narcisse "Nelson" Cyr. I am not sure how this ties back into our line under David. We are cousins, however I need to figure out where you tie into the line from me. It goes a few more generations back. I am definitely curious to learn more about your ancestors.

a bientot,
Rex

Hello Perri,
We had a pretty nice reunion in 2009. On Aug 11-15, 2011 there is a reunion in Madwaska, Maine. A few Kansas based cousins may be going.
I have that Eva Ruby Cyr was born in January 1893 in Kansas, but that is all. Do you have more information you can share about her and her husband. I would think that she was born around Clyde, Cloud County, Kansas at her father Jean Baptiste Cyr's home. What do you have? J-B also went by John.
Please share her spouses name, date of birth, marriage date/place, and children information. If you like you can email this to me through Ancestry.com.
Jean Baptiste Cyr married Melvina Regnier in 1890. He was the son of Zepherin and Philomene Cyr, who lived 3 miles west and one mile north of St. Joseph, Cloud county, Kansas.
Zepherine Cyr and Philomene Bourgeois Cyr are my Great, Great, Great Grandparents. Eva is my 1st cousin thrice removed.
My GG Grandfather was Frank Zepherine Cyr. My Great Grandfather was Archil Frank Cyr. My Grandmother was Louise Ethel Cyr.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Not sure on the family book question. However in mid-August there is a Cyr family reunion in Madwaska, Maine. If you do facebook check out Yvon Cyr or the "Acadian and Cajun Genealogy, Culture, History & Music" group page. Or check this website: www.cyrandcyrrootsreunion.com

I hope to make the reunion, but it's a long drive for me. It will be a grand time.

I am looking for any information on the parents of my great grandfather John Cyr. He was born in Maine about 1879 and died March of 1962 in Maine. I believe his middle name may have been George. His first wife's name was Josephine, then he married my greatgrandmother Bertha in 1925. They had children, one of which was William Patrick Cyr who was born in 1928. He died Dec 24, 1966. William was my grandfather. If anyone has any information on the parents of John Cyr I would really appreciate it. There are SEVERAL John Cyr's born in Maine in 1879, I can't figure out which one is the one I'm looking for.

Hello to my fellow André Cyr descendents. I recently found a Web site you maybe interested in at http://fichierorigine.com/index.htm. When I entered the Cyr surname I saw Sire/Cyr André in Accueil Fichier Origine. For those of you who have yet to see this sight it is awesome and very well researched. I found André’s true father Pierre Sire his father François Cire and François’s father Hilaire Cire and their wifes. I spent a great deal of time reading and finding lots of new information on other names of importance to my genealogy. Enjoy reading and coping. Gin
Sayre Family Research Project

In collaboration with Ralph Sayre's initiative to encourage male Sayre researchers to participate in Y-DNA testing, I am launching the Sayre Family Research project designed for those researchers who may already have their Y-DNA results and know their ancestor's lineage. The project is also open to those who have not participated in Y-DNA testing. Relatives with spelling variations of Sayre, (Sayer, Sayres, Sears, Cyr, etc.), are encouraged to participate.

This project uses the first five generations of Sayre males beginning with Thomas Sayre (1597-1670), one of the founders of Southampton, Long Island, New York. Thomas was the son of Francis and Elizabeth (Atkins) Sayre. Thomas and wife, commonly reported as Margaret Aldred/Aldrich, had four sons: Job, Daniel, Francis, and Joseph, representing generation #2. Up to three additional generations of known male descendants from each son are identified in the project.

If you believe your male ancestor was related to Thomas but was not one of the sons of Thomas, you are encouraged to include your lineage.

This link will open the Sayre Family Research project, a two question multiple choice survey, which should take about two minutes to complete. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/5GJLWJD

If this link does not work for you, copy and paste the link into your web browser's address window. Alternatively, you may post your response here using the following format: Thomas>>generation #2>>generation #3>>generation #4>>generation #5, or as many generations up to five that you know. For haplogroup please indicate by letter (A-T).

I encourage you to forward the Sayre Family Research Project link to others.

Forward any questions and I'll be glad to help.

Regards,

Gregory Morley
glmorley@clear.net

You have to be careful using the Blackfoot name to describe the Natives from Quebec. They were actually called "Pieds Noirs" in French... and this does translate to "Black Foot" but they are not part of the Blackfoot/Blackfeet Nations that are found in the west. The ones from Quebec are mainly called Montagnais today.
Re: Miquelon-Cyr family

Thanks for your reply. I don't have much more information than what was in my inquiry. I know the family started out in the St. Pierre Miquelon islands and ended up around St. Camille, Quebec. I have a letter written by the granddaughter of Joseph Zoel Miquelon Cyr that talks about how the name got the Miquelon in it and it sound similar to the story my great aunt and great grandfather told. The story says that during the expulsion ships came to the islands to take people to Quebec. During the voyage cholera broke out and many people died. One family was wiped out except for a baby. A priest on board took the baby in and named him Petit Miquelon after the island where he was born. When the baby grew up he found out his last name was really Cyr. He used both names and his descendants used various combinations of the two. At the bottom of the letter there's a note that says Joseph born at St. Camille was Zoel's brother. Pierre, Petit's son was their father. I'm not sure if Pierre's name was actually Joseph Pierre (the same as my G and GG grandfathers)It was common to name several sons after a saint like Joseph then call them by their middle names. I'm just trying to make the connection. If you have any further information I'd appreciate it!

I am looking for information on my GG grandparents Joseph Pierre Miquelon-Cyr and Naomi Longval. Their son, my GGrandfather was Joseph Pierre Miquelon b. 1857 in St Camille, Quebec, Canada. According to information I have Joseph Pierre's father (my GGG grandfather) was named Joseph or Pierre or Joseph Pierre and was born on St Pierre/Miquelon island in the 1790's. I'm also have info that leads me to believe Joseph Pierre is related to Joseph Zoel Miquelon Cyr who married Nancy Durning in Wotton. They were in St. Camille around the same time and the family stories are the same regarding how the name got changed from Cyr (originially St. Cyr) to combinations of Miquelon/Cyr.
