A Dafoe passes on

My Aunt, Marjorie June Dafoe, passed away on Monday, Nov. 24, 2008. I returned home last week to memorialize her life with my father, Eric, and my mother, Gail, and my brother, Ian. Sadly, my father is only living member of his family as Ross, his father, Bessie, his mother, and brothers, Raymond and Owen all pre-deceased Aunt Marjorie.

I welcome any fond memories you may have of my Aunt Marjorie.

John & Lydia Dafoe

Hello! I am looking for any information about John or Lydia Dafoe. I do not know Lydia's maiden name. Family tradition thinks she was Indian. All I know for sure is that they had a daughter names Philipa, born in Toronto on 2 Feb 1852. Philipa married a Thomas Badley. Philipa apparently had an older sister named Rosetta, born in 1849.

Family "tradition" also believes that John was French in origin. There are a lot of John Dafoe's out there and any help would be greatly appreciated.

My grandparents were Orpha & Louis or Lewis DaFoe. I was hoping to connect with family in Michigan. My father was William R. DaFoe, my uncles were John & Louis. I have many aunts but only remember an aunt Ruby. Hope someone can help me start my search. Grampa's mom & dad I believe were Munson & Francis, and Grama's were Justus Misener & Hulda Beemer. Thanks

Re: Update on Cousin Eleanor (Carleton) Moult

I tried to phone Eleanor this evening. Her phone number had been changed and she was not answering the new number so I called cousin Jean (Dafoe) Lake of Peterborough to find out what was happening.

For the past six or so months, Eleanor has been in a retirement home but she was not happy there. This week, she moved out of the home and is currently staying at the Avalon Motel in Belleville while she looks for an apartment in Belleville. Since most of her furniture is gone, she will be starting from scratch to furnish it.

According to Jean, Eleanor's health is "not the best" but Jean expects that she will be much happier now. And since she was out tonight attending a meeting, she is still able to do the things she loves most.

Lois Gardner-Earl
Also a descendant of Michael Dafoe and Rachel Holcomb/Ross but through their son Abraham (1802-1894).

At 11:33 AM 27/09/2006 , you wrote:
>
>I know Eleanor and will try to help find her.
>My wife is a "Dafoe" descended through Michael Dafoe/Rachael Ross and their son Jacob b 1795. I have considerable info on her line.
>
>Jerry

Caroline was my great grandmother. She married John Patterson in 1876 in Norwood, Ontario. They had 9 children. My grandmother, Myrtle Elrena (Rena) was the 5th. She married James Austin McNabb and moved to the States. I am trying to find information on my great grandmother, great grandfather and any/all of their children. The informaiton I have is that Caroline died about 1930 in Edmonton, Alberta. Her husband John Patterson died about 1913, but I don't know where.

If you have any information on Caroline's actual death date and/or information on why the family left the family land in Norwood, I'd love to hear it!

Leslie is my biological father. I have not seen him since I was 4 or 5. I would like to understand where our family came from. I was born in Port Hope, Ontario.

Dafoe/Defoe

I am looking for information concerning an Olive Dafoe/Defoe, born abt 1812, supposedly in Montreal (according to her death certificate), married my third great grandfather, Joseph DeShane, in Tweed, Hastings, Ontario, in 1826. They had 14 children -- Joseph, John, Francis, Theodore, Ann Murilla, James, Paul Sylvester, Oran, Peter, Daniel, ElizaMary, Regis, and Olive. The marriage license states that her father was Joseph Dafoe, and reports her being from Lower Canada. She died July 8, 1882, in Sheffield, Lennox Addington, Ontario, and is buried there. I have heard that she had a brother named Francis.

searching for relatives

Hi..we have been having problems researching our family tree. We know of some relatives in Ontario, however my grandfather Allan Grant Dafoe was in the Navy and we seem to have more relatives. If anyone knows of any information, I would really appreciate it. He lived in Edmonton Alberta, and that was where my father Lawrence Grant was born (1950). We are unable to go back to far as we are unsure of all the relatives. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
