My great grandparents were Augusta and Rebecca Dahn.
Grandfather Charlie Dahn, born Jan. 27, 1870, died Dec. 23, 1952. Knew of his brothers Frank, Harmon, George. Did not know about Henry. I think the sisters name was Anna, not sure. Auguste Dahn arrived from Bremen, Germany in August of 1890 at the port of New York, New York. The ship was the Rhein. My fathers name was Hugh Franklin Dahn, brothers and sisters, Thelma, Dora, Shirley, Louise and Jasper. All have passed except for Aunt Shirley and Dora. Charlie is buried in the Longtree Cemetery in Mesquite,Tx.
Hope this helps you some.

I looked up Henry's full birth and death dates at the ND Death Index. At that website you can also order a copy of his death certificate, the last I checked it was a very reasonable price, like about $5. Here's the web site: https://secure.apps.state.nd.us/doh/certificates/deathCertSe...

I have a little "Memories, The 49ers" book, which is from the Medaryville (Indiana)High School Junior-Senior Reception held April 9, 1949. (I think it was in some stuff from a flea market.) It has an entry which says it is the property of Alice Mae Dahn. It has a lot of autographs and info which includes name of Juniors and Seniors and class officers. I would like to pass it on to someone from Alice Mae Dahn's family or someone else who was in one of these classes. Please email me directly at kmackay@tds.net.

My Dahn family was in Erie County by the late 1850's. I've located them in Marilla in 1870 & 1880. Later in Lancaster & Clarence. My greatgrandfather Albert Frank Dahn was born here c. 1864. His parents state they were born in Germang,Bavaria & Prussia. The sibling names don't match but could be cousins. There were only 19-35 families in NY state in 1880. I can't find them on passenger lists or earlier censuses.
Dahn in German means Dane ie Danish. So are we Danish?

I was just wondering if this Anna might be the missing girl from Augustus' children. Some of the Dahn descendents as well as Casteels are both buried at Longcreek... so it looks like they would have lived in the same community. Any thought?

Hi!,
This is my family too.I have been working hard to put this line of my family together. I have been working on a family genealogy book of the Dahn, Dahne, Dhane family and also Hogue and Weatherford and other related names. When I am finished I will have it printed and will offer it to family at cost of the printing only. It will have photos of each family member by their name (The ones I find anyway) and every bit of information I have found and will find . I would like to talk to you and compare information..
I am the daughter of Jim and Jean Weatherford. My Grandmother was Beulah Dhane. Her father George W. Dhane
Hope to talk to you soon. Jimmie Lynn

I am actually just starting my search but it seems that Dahn goes back at least to the early 1800 for our family. The mmost Recent Dahn was born between 1938 and 1945. We also have Lafaves in our family which is the most recent immediate last name...somehow connected to Yuker if anyone has any ideas or connections, please let me know.

DAHN & HEILING FAMILIES

I am searching for any/all data on the DAHN (possible alternative spellings DAEHN, DANN, DANE) and HEILING (possible alternative spellings HEHLING and HELLING) families that came from Regenwalde, Germany. This area is currently Resko, Poland.

My Great-Great-Grandfather Carl (Charles) Frederick DAHN was born 25 April 1838 in Regenwalde, Germany. Parents unknown at this time. He married Minnie H. HEILING between 1866-1872, and they immigrated to America in 1872.
Carl Frederick DAHN died 11 February 1923 in Lke Geneva, Wisconsin and is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery. My Great-Great-Grandmother

Minnie H. HEILING was born 20 October 1836 in Regenwalde, Germany. Minnie HEILING DAHN died 18 February 1914 in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and is also buried in Oak Hill Cemetery. Minnie HEILING DAHN allegedly had a brother (name unknown) residing in Zenda, Walworth County, Wisconsin at the time of her death.

Carl and Minnie DAHN had 6-8 children; I have names for four of them: Amelia Fredericka DAHN HUDSON; Rudolph DAHN (never married); Emma DAHN FRANK; Louisa DAHN MARTIN.

If anyone has information about the DAHN and HEILING families in Regenwalde, Germany or Lyons/ Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, please contact me at lisadcentral-genealogy@yahoo.com Thanks, Lisa

Hi, Scott
How much do you know about the Hottendorf family line? The Hottendorf family line has been difficult for me to get information on. I am related to you by way of Milroy. Milroy was my grandmother's brother (Lucille Hottendorf Lingle). I met Mick and Lois when I was in high school, we went back to Iowa to see grandma Hulda Hottendorf. I do have quite a bit of information on the Hottendorf line, just now quite a much as I have gotten on the other lines. I also do have quite a bit of information on the Hesse line. Ernestine Hesse would be the grandma Hesse that your dad is talking about. Hulda Hottendorf was her daughter. By the way, who is your Dad? I have met Roy before, as he visited Lucille and Chet Lingle when he was stationed in the Navy in California years ago. I know Roy was Mick and Lois son, but I do not know on Gary, and Judy, as I found a newspaper clipping of Lois and Mick trying to adopt them. Not sure what the story is behind this. Maybe Lois was married before and Mick was adopting them. Maybe you could clear that up. Anyway,
if you want more information, just e-mail me at Kellygoldenpawn@aol.com, and I will try to answer any questions that you might have.

Susan, I was hoping you had some information about the Hottendorf family line. My grandfather's name was Milroy Hottendorf. He lived in Denison, IA and his wife's name was Lois. They had 3 children, Gary, Judy, and Roy. My dad has mentioned a "gramma Hesse" several times, but I don't know how she's related.

Thanks for the information. I haven't been able to connect any of the Dahn's in Iowa to my Michigan and Illinois Dahn families. I do know that there were 7 Dahn brothers at one point in Illinois but it appears that at some point, at least 4 of them ended up in Lapeer County, MI.

I haven't tracked the other 3 brothers yet though so it's possible they could have ended up in IA.

If you can connect your Dahn's to mine, I'd be happy to share everything I have with and I have quite a bit of information and a couple of pictures also.

Good luck in your searching!

Dawn

Dawn,
Thanks for replying to my post. This is one area of my family tree that I know little of. I do have my gg grandma obit from the newspaper. This is all I have to go on. It says, that she was born in Germany and emigrated to America when she was nine years old. Here parents were Carl Dahn and Dora (Krogenburg) Dahn. She had a brother named Albert Dahn that signed her death certificate in March 1945. They established a home in Lowden, Iowa. The Brother apparently still lived in Marion, Iowa when she died. If any of these names sound familiar that would be just great.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you,
Susan
