Hi,
I am looking for descendants of a James S. Dailey, who died during World War II, December 30, 1944. I believe he may have been from Garrard County Kentucky.
I have something that I picked up at an auction last night in Flemingsburg Kentucky that I believe may be of value to his descendants.
Please contact me at Nancye1962@gmail.com or at Nancye1962@yahoo.com if you are a descendant, or you might know how to get a hold of a family member of this man. I am not related, but am interested in returning this item to it's rightful owners, which should be the descendants of James S. Dailey. Thank you.
Nancy Bishop
That was a long time ago too! And I would love to have some more info, it's been kind of hard getting the Dailey's researched..seem to have just landed in Western Kentucky!! :)

I remember reading about this in an article they did on Gramma Dailey (what we called her) for her 100th birthday. I believe it said that Bill was struck by lightning while working on their farm, and then Eva died shortly after childbirth. I'm her g-g daughter through Imogene, and my dad is Cary. I don't remember much about Gramma Dailey, she died when I was five I think.

In response to the Amos and Hannah BROWN family of Ashford, CT. The possiblity of a Nipmuc Indian connection is fascinating.
I am descended from a Patty (or Martha) BROWN born 1 March 1795, probably Ashford, CT and married Palmer CARPENTER January 1818, Ashford, Connecticut. She was the daughter of an Amos BROWN, but no mother is given

Could this be a connection?

I have access to the Genealogy Center, Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana and would be willing to follow any ideas that you might have and share the results.

Mary Catherine French Grobis
2723 O'Day Road
Fort Wayne, IN 46818-9729

260-625-3722

marycatherinegrobis@teknology.net

Hi Phil,
Thank you SO much for trying to copy the Cummiskey info. Any of the Dailey info is also part of the connection, as the two surnames married.
I just sent you an email, so you should have a direct contact for me now. Let me know if my email arrives to you.
Looking forward to your copies from your Bible. I have a family Bible from about 1835 that was in a fire in about 1890 - so a lot of fire & water damage. It is MOST fragile, but for posterity I have taken the risk of making it a permanent record before there is any more deterioration & destruction.
Tese

Tese, good to hear from you. I'll try to get you a copy of the Commiskey info. I don't know if I'll be able to scan the bible, it is in somewhat fragile
condition. I'll see what i can do. My email is: daileyj@comcast.net

Hi Phil,
I am 99% sure that my gg grandmother was/is the sister of Mary (Cummiskey) Lynch). I would love photos of the headstones at Catawissa of the Owen & Dailey families - if possible. (Of course - these photos won't prove any connections, but might be helpful when our connections if made..
My main focus is on Margaret (Lynch) Dailey's family. Like I mentioned above - Margaret's Mom - Mary (Cummiskey) Lynch is probably my Susan Cummiskey's sister, but so far can't make a 100% connection.
Hope we can find the 'needle in the haystack' connection for our families :-)
Tese
ps (my email is tese@gorszwick.com Please feel free to make direct contact & go from there.)

Hi
My name is Phil Haselbauer. My wife is a great-granddaughter of Owen Dailey and Margaret Lynch. Owen and Margaret's son James Patrick returned to Missouri to work on the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis. He maried and settled in Eureka, MO not far from Catawissa, where Owen's father, Peter, and Margaret's parents are burried. I would very much appreciate receiving a copy the picture you took of Owen's gravestone. My email is phaselbauer@sbcglobal.net. I have pictures of many of the family graves at St. Patricks of Armagh (Old Rock Church)Cemetery including Peter Dailey and Owen and Margaret's first daughter Alice who died at age six before they left Missouri for California. I would be glad to share these pictures with anyone that has an interest.

Phil Haselbauer

Hi John,
Hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We were corresponding almost a year ago regarding my Cummiskey connection to the Dailey family. You mentioned Owen & Margaret Dailey's family bible with names & dates, then a 7-page family history. Would you be able to take digital photos of those pages & send them to me? I'd really appreciate that.
I am going to Salt Lake City again Feb 2012 & would love to have some more tidbits to check out. Is there anything you'd like for me to look up while I'm there for you?
Look forward to your reply.
Tese in Carlsbad

I have two David (Dailey's Daily's) in my records. One is a half brother to my great grandfather Abram. He was married to Eva L. Cramer. The second is the son of Abram and he was married to Aliva B Birkhimer. It is possible the one you speak of is also related being from that area of WV, but I have not come across him yet.

Dailey who is the son of Daniel Daily but Wiley Dailey is not of the same family. Wiley may have been related to a John R., but it isn't our family.
DAILEY Marianne Barker

HAMPTON, VA. – Marianne Barker Dailey passed away Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, after a long and brave battle with pancreatic cancer.

Marianne was born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in Youngstown, Ohio.
She was the only child of William Thomas and Irene Garwood Barker, two school teachers, who raised their daughter to be a woman of faith and steadfast loyalty, with a heart of gold.

From a very young age, Marianne was outgoing, vivacious and always on the move.
She participated in many activities and found a love for synchronized swimming.

Marianne attended Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. She then received her degree in practical nursing from Hanna Mullins School of Nursing in Salem, OH.
Before beginning her nursing career, she moved to Chicago and became a flight attendant for TWA, fulfilling her love of travel.

She married G. Curtis Dailey in June 1964, began her nursing career and moved to Columbus, Ohio. After the birth of their two children, Renee and Curtis, Marianne put that career on hold to raise her family.

Their family lived in San Antonio and Birmingham, Alabama, before moving back to Hampton. This is where Marianne would call home, raise her children and develop wonderful friendships over the next 40 years.

After her children left for college, she returned to her love of nursing. She earned several Nurse of the Year awards at Riverside Hospital, where she worked for the next 20 years. Marianne was known for her kind heart, quick wit, compassionate nature and professional care.

Marianne was a devoted Tarheel fan, as both Renee and Curtis received degrees from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Marianne loved having fun and spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed being on the water, boating and ski trips, as well as spending time with friends at the James River Country Club and The Hampton Yacht Club.

Marianne enjoyed volunteering in the community, with Animal Rescue, at the SPCA, Planned Parenthood and helping to feed the homeless.
She was very active in the First Presbyterian Church of Hampton and a member of The Junior League.

One of her most treasured roles was that of grandmother to her five grandchildren. There was not a week that went by that she did not see her grandbabies. To them, she was a buddy, teacher and sometimes even a partner in crime - “is there such a thing as too many cookies?”

Marianne is survived by her husband, Dr. G. Curtis Dailey; her daughter, Ms. Renee Dailey and her children, Kol and Lydia; and her son, Dr. Curtis W. Dailey, his wife, Sara and their three children, Charlie, Caroline and Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made Guiding Eyes for the Blind, P.O. Box 709, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598-0709.

Arrangements by the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.

http://www.vindy.com/news/tributes/2011/sep/14/marianne-bark...

Cuyahoga
Mahoning

I believe that my grandmother Ella Dailey was Gertrude's sister. Ella married Grover H. Bailey and they lived thoughout the state of Georgia (he was a Methodist minister). My mother Eugenia H. Bailey Matthews lived most of her life in Lincolnton, GA and I reside there now. I would love to get some of your information. It sounds as if you have much more info that I have, but I would be glad to share anything with you. The DAR information and diary sound really interesting. Thanks.

I'm looking for information on William A. Dailey (b:1843 and d:1883) who married Sarah Minerva Hurston in 1862 in Alexander, IL. He immigrated from Ireland but I'm not sure when or where from. Some of his descendants currently live in Missouri but William and Sarah lived in Alexander, IL. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

Peggy...James Keating came over from Ireland with his parents(Lenard and Mary Dailey) in 1870. He went to Chicago and met Anna/Annie Casey b. 3/1857 in Wisconsin. Her parents were from Ireland. I think both families were from county Cork...I believe Mary's parents are James Daley and Margaret Hickey (no dates). James and Annie had a child born in Ill. then moved back to Kelly's Island. Any more info on the Casey or Keating family appreciated. Deb

My great grandpa Harold Lynch was born on Kelleys Island in 1901. Apparently, his father was named Ezra and most likely came from Ireland. This is pretty much all that I have on them as my research is just beginning.

Hello,

I am Jo Anne Benedict(Morris Hicks Walker) Demag, a granddaughter of Mrs. Albert Dailey but not of her husband, Albert. Annie Hultz Hall Dailey was first married to William Raleigh Hall and they had a daughter, Eva Lois (my mother), nine months before William (Bill)was killed by a lightning strike. After Bill's death, Annie moved in with another widow, and two years later Albert Dailey sent her a formal letter requesting a visit. Albert, a 31-year-old KY coal miner whose wife had died, had two children and was looking for a wife. It's an interesting story. If you would like more info, you may email me at gjdemag@gmail.com
