Was it a local antique shop or an on-line auction????

Yesterday I purchased an old photo at a local antique shop. The photo shows two young women. On the back is written "Leona (Pete) Daily - left, Georgia Daily - right". There are no other markings on the photo. Attached is a copy of the photo.

If these are your ancestors, please contact me.

I am more than a little curious about where this one came from. Did you buy any more pictures at the same time?

I'm researching Daniel Daily b 4 May 1803 in NY state. He died 26 Mar 1889 in Northumberland, Ontario, Canada. He married Elizabeth Benson b.1806 in Ontario, died 1877.

It appears Daniel immigrated to Canada from NY and was naturalized in Prince Edward County, Ontario in 1831.
3 children have been identified so far: Jane Ann, Nelson, Mahala.
Any assistance in determining parents of Daniel would be greatly appreciated. Would also like to pinpoint place of birth for Daniel and connect with anyone else having interest in this family to exchange information.

Thank you.

Re: Hubert Daily born about 1905

I have learned during 35+ years trying to figure out my family history, a great many names exist from a time when our more immediate family was quite a bit larger. In your case, do you know of Hubert Daily's relative's names...parents, gr. parents, spouse, children, etc. I ask the question this way because going by date or by city can be limiting and often takes us off the track instead of where we are trying to go. *I'll be happy to exchange information, if that's helpful. In my line neither I, my dad, or grandfather had brothers so I have to go back to my grt. grandfathers line when he was one of 9 children and from there, I have discovered several Daily 'cousins' and am now able to correspond. Please write when you can. Paul S. Daily

Abraham & Elizabeth Daily (1814 - )

I'm searching for any information on Abraham and Elizabeth Daily. I believe Abraham was born in North Carolina while Elizabeth was probably born Elizabeth Jane Sawyer in Kentucky (maybe Tennessee, but I think KY) They lived in Decatur, IN, in 1850 with their children Melvinia, Martha, Mary and Joseph. In 1860 they were in Maries, MO, with children Melvinia, Joseph, John, and Hiram. In 1870, Elizabeth was back in Easton, OH, with Melvinia, Joseph, John and Hiram. This fits with my grandmother's story that Elizabeth buried her husband and several children "near the Mississippi River Valley" before going back to OH with her surviving children. I am looking for Elizabeth's and confirmation of Abraham's parents, details of any of the deaths of Abraham and the children, and anything else I can find. I am descended from John Daily. I believe Hiram moved to Iowa where his family and descendants may still reside. I have no additional info on Joseph or Melvinia. I think Melvinia lived with her mother until Elizabeth's death, but I don't know what happended to her after that. If you have any information, I would love to learn more. Thanks!

Hi Flo,
Do you have copied of those "Indian Applications filed in 1901 for the Kansas Land Claims of Brothertown Indians"..?
I have several and have requested these out of NARA in Washington DC for the past 4-5 years now. I have almost everyone who filed and was rejected in Rhode Island. In reviewing some of them, I cam across something interesting, that I wsanted to share with you. (I'll keep looking for the Rodman descendent files)...

Helen D. Banks, who lived in Jersey City, New Jersey in 1901 filed one of these applications. Here is some of the information, check this out:

She was born November 27, 1867 in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. She says that she is Narragansett and Brothertown. Her claim is because, "I am a descendant of William Sampson who emigrated to Brothertown in 1825 and died there".

Her husbands name is Richard E. Banks, she says he is not an Indian.

Their children are: Richard E. Banks, Amie D. Banks and Frederick Banks.

Her parents are: William H. White
and her mother is "Susan A. Dailey"

Where were they born? Father: Not an Indian, mother was born in East Thompson, Connecticut (not all Dailey's left CT being my point for this posting)...

Name all their children: Nelson Latham (half brother)
Helen D.
