Al is survived by his loving wife, Dewayne(Dee)of Wetaskiwin; Son, Eugene(Kathy) Dakin of Edmonton; Daughter, Karen(Lance)Rau of Wetaskiwin; Stepdaughter, Judy(Mike)Yanosik of Taber;grandchildren, Kristopher, Austin and Ruben; Stepchildren,Michael, James, Tayna, Dominique, Michaela, Devlin and Tiegan; Sisters, Bertha(Lou) Edmonds of Edmonton, Helen(Denis) Amiot of Lac La Biche, Margaret(Wayne) Finlay of Edmonton; Sister-in-law Olga Dakin of Atmore; aunts,uncles,nieces,nephewscousins and many friends. Funeral service was held on Saturday, August 14 at 1p.m. from Baker Funeral Chapel, Wetaskiwin with Rev Jim Reeb officiating. Interment in Wetaskiwin Memorial Cemetery.

All of the online information I've seen states that Frances Dakin (Dacon) is the daughter of David and Nancy -- David being the son of Jonathan and Sally. I've seen that listed several times on different gedcoms and family listings, but none that I've seen have provided a source for that.

I have a bible that belonged to Nancy Dakin which states that SHE is the daughter of Jonathan and Salley Dakin, and that Frances is her daughter. I'm assuming this is the same Nancy Dacon, along with ?her son? Jonathan Dacon, that was listed in the household with Frances in 1850; and Nancy Swain listed in the household with Frances in 1860.

Here's the info I have:

When my great aunt Myrtle Corell Myers died, I was given some items that belonged to Greenville and Frances Arthur, one of the items was a bible published in 1828:

Written on the page facing the inside front cover of the Bible:

"Nancy Dakin, her bible November 1830"

"Nancy Dakin Daughter of Jonathan & Salley Dakin was born March the 18 day 180[3]"

"Frances A[r/n]teline Daughter of Nancy Dakin was born the 2 day of December 182[5]."

Written upside down, at the bottom of the page, in a different handwriting:

"Miss Myrtle Childress age 18, Dec 27, 1915"*
[*this would be my great aunt Myrtle Corell Myers that owned this bible before me]

Unfortunately I can't get to the archives to investigate this any further, so I'm stuck and really baffled. Can anyone provide any further info to help solve this "mystery" for me?

Im looking for information regarding Charles Dakin born 1788 in Pennsylvania who married Elizabeth Parent.

He had the following children:

Charles b. 1825
Thomas b. 1827
Matilda b. 1829
Samuel b. 1831
Peter b. 1838

I know about his children, but I know nothing of him except that he married Elizabeth Parent.

Also written in the "Genealogical and Family History of the Wyoming and Lackawanna Valleys, Pennsylvania"; (Volume 2) on page 113 it says....

"Mr. Dakin is a representative of a family of English origin
which is asserted on good authority to be of noble extraction. The Lackawanna county branch has long been resident in Pennsylvania."

Any help would be great.

I am looking for anyone that has info on or connections to an Eli D. Proctor - parents were Jonas Proctor & BETSY DAKIN of Rockingham, VT. Betsy died 1864. Eli was born 4-4-1816 in Rockingham, VT & died 12-12-1915. He married Mary Woodward in 1842, she died 1889. They had 4 children & moved to Wisconsin in 1843. We have a little info & want more & also want to share what we have. We have a list of Pall Bearers (I'm not sure if they were for Eli or Mary) - A. J. Boon, H. I. Gould, S. Anderson, P.L. Chesemore, S.H. Locke & Merrill Hollister. Do any of these names look familiar to you?? The 4 children of Eli were G.A. I am descended from the James Urban Gould line. He was born 2-6-1840 in Springfield, VT, married Mary Ellen Proctor 4-11-1866. They moved to Rock Co., WI in 1854. I understand they had several children, including four sons: John, George, William Henry and Tom. John apparently moved to Hollywell, Wales. I don't know what became of the other sons. Elizabeth (Betsy) Dakin, wife of Jonas Proctor was born 16 Jan 1787, d/o Joseph Dakin and Elizabeth Brown of Sudbury, MA. She was the granddaughter of Oliver Dakin and Elizabeth Keys of Sudbury. An extensively researched 1948 Dakin Genealogy is in NEHGS library, Boston, and both land and probate records establish the relationships. I am a descendant of Eli Proctor's granddaughter Edna (Gould) Wright and have researched this line thoroughly.

My husband is a descendant of Thomas Dakin through the Thompson's of Sudbury Ma. Ellen Luctretia Dakin (1324) married Alfred Nahum Thompson in 1858. His Mother is Barbara Ann (Thompson) Cuthbertson(5939)

We have copied relevant info from a relative's copy of this book, but would love a copy of our own. Has anyone put this info online?

We have a relative, Elizabeth Mary Dakin, who was born in Marlbough, NY abt 1911. Her sister was Margaret (Peggy) Dakin. Elizabeth Dakin married John Rowe. Peggy married a gentleman with surname Randall. Early stages of research. Would welcome any help. I believe the father of Betty and Peggy was Daniel Dakin.

Hello! My name is Robert Stone. I have been researching both sides of my family. I have been able to trace my Stone ancestors back to 1560 in England. I have not been able to find my maternal ancestors. My great grandmother was Caroline G. (Dakin) Talbott. She was born about 1826 in New York. She married Franklin Talbott, M.D. in 1841, but the only city I have heard about was Springfield, but no state was listed. She and Franklin lived in Ohio,Illinois, Missouri and Texas. My mother and her siblings say he died and was buried in Lamar County, Texas. Caroline was supposedly buried near Allen, Oklahoma, but I cannot find any records of this.I would greatly appreciate any help you could offer. Thanks, Robert

Im looking for information regarding the Dakin family that came from a Thomas Dakin b.1827 d.1885 and a Maragret A. Hazlett-Dakin b.1825 d.1891.

They were from the Lurzene Co. in PA. They were both buried in Forty Fort Cemetery.

I have found one census record from 1880 listing Ella M. Dakin b.1874 as a Grand Daughter of Thomas and Maragaret.

James Calvin married a Sarah Jane Holvey.
These are my G-G-Grandparents.

I have also found in a Wedding Nuptials of James Calvin and Sarah Jane Dakin's daughter Lillin May Dakin that an Mrs.Elmer Dakin from Peckville, PA attended the wedding.

I am looking what became of James Calvin's brothers and sisters. Also who is Ella M. Dakin the daughter of?

The 1890 US Census record missing is giving me a hard time.

Any help would be great.

We are in the early stages of researching the DAKIN Family, primarily from the Poughkeepsie, Duchess and Ulster County, Areas of NY. Our family had Elizabeth M. Dakin born in 1911 in Marlboro, NY. Robert Dakin farmer of Sec 32 post office is Magnolia,Ill born in Clinton county Ohio Oct 14 1814, came to LaSalle county in 1861, Republican, owns 174 acrds of land valued at $10,000 married Miss Matilda A Macready of Warren county Ohio Jan 1850, she was born June 1824, names of children Henry born 1850,Ennis born 1855, Ainsay born 1857, Anna born 1859, Oscar born 1861 and Perry 1865; Mr.Dakin followed carpentering in Ohio for several years.
Checking the 1870 census in Hope it seems as if Ennis is written N.S.a son age 15 and Anisey is a son age 13.

Perry Dakin born in 1865 is listed in Magnolia,Putnam county Illinois in later census, single, traveling salesman, the 1920 census lists him as living in Magnolia Village.

I now live in house that John Deacon (1802-1884) built in Hudson, Ohio in 1847. And across the street form the house that Henry Deacon (1795-1877) built in 1845.
Over the 30 years I have been here, I have done periodic searches on the Deacons.

I am looking for any living DAKIN family member who is related to : Ernest Dakin, m. Ethel Gertrude WEAVER on Oct.09,1900 at St.Andrews Church,Wolverhampton,Staff.... His fathers name was David DAKIN and her fathers name was Ralph Matthias WEAVER. Ethel was the older sister to my grand-father Harley Dowding WEAVER. Her other siblings were Constance,Randolph and Iris. I do not know the names of Ernest and Ethels children but one MIGHT have been Elsie Gertrude (NOT sure!). George Dakin had a son George Dakin born about 1828 (don't know where) who lived in Leicester and was a Policeman. George Dakin 1828 brother Thomas had a son George who was a bookbinder, born Leicester 1852 but lived in London. Any of them related? I don't know of any Charles Dakins in my family.

Sorry not to reply sooner. I am related to the Dakin Family through my great grandmother Mary Maria Dakin who married George Massey. Their son Charles Dakin Massey is my Grandfather. Sydney Massey my Dad then me Karen Massey Strope

Earlier in our history are three George Dakins but not the one you menetioned. Also there are serveral Charles Dakins.

I am related to the Dakin family of Sileby. My ancestor was George Dakin, a butcher born in Sileby about 1896 and married to Rebecca Ward. Unfortunately I have little information as to George's parents but lots as to his descendants. I wonder who you are related to.
