Dalbys of Leicester

Hello Jim,
I am a descendant of some Dalbys who immigrated to Australia
from Leicester in 1839, they were Henry and Mary Dalby.
Henry's Father was Thos Dalby, a tailor. I don't know if there
were any brothers or sisters. If this turns out to be part of
your Family tree you are very welcome to what information I have
about Henry's side of the family.
Regards,
Jenny Walkom

haven't done any searching yet,, but it would be a stretch to find anyone there.. my family came from England and I'm still trying to get info on that.. I only have back to my GGfather and don't have anything on his siblings or parents .. I think I have to write the registrar.. same for his wife.

Jenny I know I am this is an old post but if you are still researching this family I would like to connect with you.

I have a Mary Ann Dalby b. 1829 Leicester who's father was a Thomas Dalby b. 1793 Wingston. Mary Ann married a draper in Leicester who went to Austraila and died there shortly aft his arrival there in 1853. What's strange abt it is I have never figured out why he went to Australia as his wife and children appeared to either have stayed or returned to Leicester shortly after his death. Wondered if your Henry was possible a brother of my Mary Ann.

My grandmother had a cousin called Edna Mabel Dalby. She was born in 1906 in Basford, Derbyshire. The family lived in Leicestershire/Nottingham/Derbyshire. Edna's mother died in 1909 and she was living in 1911 with her aunt and uncle and her cousin (my grandmother). My mother remembers her mother talking about Edna. We believe Edna's father emigrated to the US. Her uncle (my gt grandfather) was an accomplished flautist.

Please get in touch if you are still on the site...or anybody else who might be connected.

Thank you for the reply! I started this search for an internet pal, Ted Dean who had very little information about his birth mother. Through this website I was able to get an actual copy of his birth certificate! I know that his mother Edith died shortly after child birth. His father was a hosiery salesman, but I cannot remember his name. I'm sorry I don't have much other info about his mother. It seems she might have been a singer or musician, and may have had some notariety during her time. I believe Mr Dean
(her son)may be deceased. I lost touch with him several years ago when he told me he was ill and was just going to go off to live in peace for however long he had left.
I believe the rocords hall that sent the birth certificate sent two copies and I ended up with one. If I run across it
and it has any other information I will let you know!

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, it would appear that Ted Dalby died in 2004. He was my mother's second cousin. His mother was called Edna Mabel and my mother has a photo of her, aged about 20. If Ted ever had any children and would like a copy, I'm sure I could scan the photo. Edna's father was called Fred(erick) and her mother was Mabel Heath, who died when Edna was 3. She lived with my great grandfather, who was a professional musician. Nobody knows what happened to Fred, but my mother believes that he and his brother John (Jack) emigrated to the US. The Dalby line can be traced back to the sixteenth century.
How sad that Ted didn't live to find out about his ancestors.
