Ships that came from Cork with this emigration scheme:
http://www.theshipslist.com/ships/passengerlists/peterrobins...

Looking for the Daley/Dailey that settled in the Tecumseth, Simcoe County area in Ontario (1871 Evelyn and children Thomas, Ellen and Eliza Ann) . My husband's great grandfather, Francis Sheppard b. 1859 Toronto, was on their farm in the 1881 census. Believe deaths of both parents shortly before and after 1861 left him an orphan. Trying to determine if his brother, William Sheppard, survived. Frank may have been on the Daley farm with the assistance of the Catholic Church, Toronto.

Looking for any info on Cornelius Dailey immigrated from Ireland about 1867. He was married to Margaret Arnold and lived in Sharpsburg, Allegheny, Pa. They had 3 children in 1870, Julia (6) Timothy (4) and Margaret (2). He would be my great-great grandfather. Unable to find any reference to the family from 1880-1910 when they appear in the census again but only Margaret senior, Timothy and my grandfather John William (son of Margaret Jr.) are mentioned.

We are still here---my gfather was Edward Allan Daley b. about 1885 and I believe his parents were Daniel Daley and Edith Allan and they were according to family married in St. Charles, Missouri. My gfather worked in the newspaper business and lived in St. Louis, Carbondale,Ill and Belleville, Ill where he died in 1930.He is buried in St.Louis in Calcary Cemetery. I have been unable to find his exact place/date of birth but believe it was possibly 29 Aug 1887 in Kansas City, Mo. I have not been able to find out anything on his parent. Would you have any info on Daniel.
Tim Daley

Sounds a lot like my family. They are also Catholic. I was able to get the marriage record of my gggrandfather from the Boston Archdiocese. They have no main index though, so you need the marriage date, names, and either the parish or the priest. The additional piece of info on the record were the wittnesses though, and it did not give me clues to the Daley side of the family. John J. Daley is still a mystery for me.

Hi
My ggf John Joseph Daley was born about 1870, potentially in NY, NY. On most sources that I have, his father's name is listed as Michael and his mother's as Mary.

I have always heard that John was born on the ship from Ireland to NY, but have never been able to find a birth record or immigration record either. A relative tells me that his siblings were Delia, Richard, and Winnie, but I've never been able to find a record of this family at all. I've heard the family moved to Philadelphis, but I know they settled in boston at least as early as 1896.

As far as a Patrick Daley, I have never seen the name on any records so far, althogh it doesn't mean there's no connection. Were they Catholic? If I can find John's birth record, I hope to get his baptism record from the Archdiocese.

Thanks, Matt.
I had the (possibe) death information and will be going to the State Archives sometime next Spring to double-check. I also found another Matt Daley who died in Baltimore City in 1904. I didn't mention them in my post because I wasn't sure it was correct.
I have not been able to find the newspaper article you mentioned, but am still checking that out.
Thanks again for replying.
10MWW10

Hi,
I am not related to your Daley family but I thought I would check for your Matthew Daley. My wife is actually 2nd cousins to the 2nd Mayor Daley of Chicago. As for me I have been researching my Maryland roots for a while now. Anyway here is what I found. First of all I checked for the census you mentioned with his daughters. Matthew Daley is a farmer so he no doubt farmed in the County not in the Balto City jurisdiction. Also I am not sure if it says he has 4 living children or 7. In the Baltimore Sun newspaper there is an article dated 16 Apr 1902 from the Orphan's Court of Baltimore County where it names Agnes Daley being granted a "Letter of Administration" for the late Matthew Daley. The Orphan's Court case makes sense since Matthew Daley still had minors living at home.

Also if you check the Maryland Archives county death index there is an entry for Matthew Daley who died in Baltimore County, 11 March 1902 with the card index #W-51 . That death date works for the Orphans Court case. Of course this may be the wrong Matthew Daley. I hope this helps.

Matt A

Hi Everyone,

I have discovered some more information:

My grandfather, Robert James Daley (b. 1938) was the son of James Daley (no info - but i'm assuming he was born between 1900 - 1918). It appears that they were Wellington based, and as the name "James" features heavily in the line I am thinking there could be a connection to the above Daley family that arrived from London.

Let me know if anyone has some details to share.

I thought I'd post the photos I have of John Daley (1870-1949) and his siblings Richard and Delia. The First photo is of John J. and Richard Daley. The only other info I have on Richard is that he might have gone to Springfield, Ma or Philadelphia, Pa.

The second photo was apparently sent from Dublin and is of Delia Daley and her family. It was a addressed to to John J. Daley from his fond sister Delia.

Its a long shot, but it anyone can make connections to this family, I'd love to hear from you.

-Tim

Daley's in Massachusetts- John J, Michael, Mary . .

Hi
I am searching for information on the family of my gg grandfather. I have more information since I posted a few years ago and was hoping that it might ring a bell with someone.

My GG Grandfather, John J. Daley, was born in 1870 in New York City (though sometimes listed as Ireland or Massachusetts). His parents were Michael Daley (Daly?) and Mary, both born in the Dublin area of Ireland. John had at least three siblings. A brother, Richard, who moved to Philadelphia, Pa. Also, two sisters named Delia b. abt. 1866, in Dublin and Winnie.I don't know if either came to US. I have a picture of Delia with her family in Dublin and a picture of John J. with Richard.

Through the help of someone on these message boards, for which I am continually grateful, I was able to obtain the marriage record of John J. Daley and Ellen Tully in 1896, Boston Ma. John J. died in 1949. This family continued to live in the Boston area.

I have been unable to locate a birth record in New York and have struck out on gaining new information from burial and death records in Massachusetts, both of which I have. If anyone can make connections to his siblings I would love to share information.

-Tim

Help needed: John Daley d. 22 Dec 1893 - Lorain County, Ohio

I am in search of the Daley line from Lorain County, Ohio. John Daley married Lydia Austin (1819-1902) in 1855 - Elyria, Lorain, Ohio. They had at least three children: Charles Lewis Daley (my 2nd great-grandfather) and Oscar A. Daley, as well as a son, James, who died as a child. I have very little information on John other than a marriage date (13 Nov 1855) and John's death (22 Dec 1893) in Lorain County. There is no information that I have found showing anything about John's early life, parents' names, etc, except various census records giving his birthplace as New York or Massachusetts. I did find a possible military record that shows a John Daley born in Troy, New York, but I can't confirm this.
If anyone has any information about a Daley line coming to/living in Lorain County, Ohio, please contact me.

Thanks,
Amanda Mason

Re: Looking for Nora Herlihy Daley

Hello, I found my great grandfather and great grandmother in the local "birth" archives. Jeremiah Barry and Nora (Daley) Barry registering a birth in 1919 here in Dover, New Hampshire. My grandfather said that his father and mother immigrated from Cork County around the early 1900's.\

Regards
