Alexander was born in Bastard, Leeds Co, Ont. Canada in 1782
I have him living with a son John born 1828 and a daughter Martha Dant and her three children. I am trying to find his wife and any other children and maybe parents if I put my Christmas wish out there now. I would love any help I can get I have 6 generations to the present and am willing to exchange information

I am a decendant of the Dant family. They, for some reason get confused with the Gates line. My gamo was Martha Ellen (Greenwell) Dant. Her parnets were James Nicholas 1834-1875 - Louisa Ann (Spaulding) Dant. - 1835-1901. I found outt ,after searching the Gates, that this was not right. The Dant's connect with the Kidwell line. Mary Inez Dant married Charles Preston Kidwell. The Kidwell line is extensive for me, so far, clear to George Washington. Not all proven yet but I do Know that I anyway am not related to the Gates. You mentioned McAtee's - they are in this line too. Joseph McAtee (deceaced) did work on all this and his sister told me I was on the wrong path with the Gates. She may have posted his info. I probably have cunfused you & did not help but If nothing else please consider that you are on the wrong path. cmaggie3@copper.net

Thomas Dant Accomplice to Slave Flight, MD 1859

I found this in the maryland state archives and found this very interesting. Even though he wasnt found guilty, its good to know he fought slavery.

Accomplice to slave flight, Prince George's County, Maryland, 1859

Biography:

On November 12, 1859 a warrent was issued for the arrest of twenty-one year old Thomas Dant of Bladensburg, Prince George's County. The warrent was issued by Prince George's County Court Clerk Charles Middleton. The warrent stated that Dant must appear before the next Circuit Court of Prince George's County held at Upper Marlborough. Dant was charge with the crime of harbouring runaway slaves and Richard Hopkins was subpoenaed to testify against Dant. After the testimony of defense witnesses William P. Brooke, John M. Dant and Richard A. Dant on April 3, 1860 Dant was found not guilty on the charge of harbouring slaves and released by the Court. The 1860 Prince George's County Census recorded Dant employed as a laborer, living with his twenty-two year old wife Harriet and their one year old daugther Ann in the 1860 Prince George's County Census.

I am related to the Sneeringer-Pecher family:

Joseph A. Sneeringer married Rachel Philomena Pecher on 7 Jan 1903. Rachel was born 30 Apr 1872 in Adams County, PA and I have quite a bit on her family. Joseph was born in Bonneville, PA to FJ and Frances Sneeringer. They had a daughter ( Zeta??) born in 1908 and 5 other children. The family was living in Waynesboro in 1938.

I cannot seem to locate my Dant notes and would greatly appreciate any information on either families.

Please let me know if you’re interested in any information on the Pechers.

My grandfather is Ralph F. Dant who's father is John Blake Dant and grandfather is George Washington Dant. I have noted Florence in my tree and my Aunt remembers her also.

My father's second wife was Audrey Fife Sneeringer. The children you list were from her first married to Al Fife. Is this the Ralph Dant you are interested in? My father passed away in 1984.

Seeking more info on Charles Dant, brother of John Baptist and Joseph Dant. Charles married Mary Ann Greenwell in MD. All came to KY in late 1700's; settled in Bardstown area. Seeking grave sites and/or land grant information. Charles' son, William (m. Judith Ann Davis) moved to IN, early 1800's. Also seeking info on William. I have much information to also share.

Ralph F. Dant had the following children: Florence M. ( married Jennings), Mary Louise ( married Esoenchade) and David A. Fife. Mrs. Dant was buried in Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Bladensburg, Prince George, MD.

I'm researching Chadd/Weibel/Gillick lines in and around Daviess & Knox County.

I noticed in one of you pots mention of Truelove and Lydia. I have in my records a Thomas F. Gillick 1861 martin Co In s/o Fielding and Nancy Truelove Gillick who married Mary Lydia Street, d/o James Street & Lonam Alford Street. Their dtr Rosa 1883-1934 married my gr grandfather Tolbert Weibel. I have Hedrick, Hunt, Cullivan, McGuin, and Snider names Martin and Daviess Co.

Anything to add, I'm willing to share.

Sorry I can add very little... I didn't copy the clippings, not knowing where he fits. There is only one Bud Dant that I am aware of who was a musician. He seems to have been quite famous in his day. I think there is a CD available and he had his own band Since the clipping files are not used frequently just wanted to put the information out that there is a file for him at the Indiana State Library.

I'm seeking information on two sons of Francis "Frank" Dant and Lucy McAtee. I have Martin Eugene Dant married to Emma Jane Clements, but I have nothing beyond that. I'm also seeking information on another son Thomas Elmer Dant, who I believe lived mainly in Indianapolis and may have died there in 1976. Beyond his being on the census, I have no rea dates or information on him. I would be grateful for any help.

You could very easily become my favorite person in the world. I have started researching my family and I have traced it back to Nicholas G. Dant and Louisa Spaulding (buried in St. Joseph's, Bramble). I descend from their daughter Francis Anna who married a Kidwell. I've been told that Nicholas' parents were James Dant and Matilda Kidwell. I keep coming up blank on them. I'm trying to trace my Dant roots and I'm having a hard time getting past the ones in Martin Co. :) I'm trying to trace the Spaulding line as well, but I know almost nothing about Louisa except when she was born and when she died. Help??

I live in Cadiz Kentucky, just 2 1/2 hours from Princeton. But I visit there often.

Bud Dant was my dad. His real name was Ralph K. Dant, Sr. He was married to a woman named Joanna before he was married to my mother. They had a son named Denny Mac but I lost track of him many years ago. If you want any more information, please let me know.
