I am not sure if this is going to help or confuse you but hopefully help.

I looked in the 1910 census where George and Dollie are first listed as man and wife. Civil District 2, James, Tennessee.
I looked for Daughterys living nearby since she was so young.
I found a Martha Daughtery, widows, living as a cook in the household of Charles A Lane, Tennessee > James > Civil District 2 > District 0097 > 3 .

going back to the 1900 census I find a widow Martha Daughtery living in Civil District 6, Hancock, Tennessee born within a few years of the 1910 Martha.
She is listed with -
Martha Daughtery 44 Nov 1855
William Daughtery 24
Hallie L Daughtery 19
Thomas Daughtery 17
Buna Daughtery born December 1893 (I have no idea why Ancestry listed her age as 11)

Maybe you can research the males in this census and track them backwards to make a connection or rule her out..

Do you have any children's name for Dollie and George? any sibling names? anything else?

In 1930 in District 4, Hamilton, Tennessee there is:
George Mcdade 48
Dollie Mcdade 35
Paul Mcdade 12
Clarence Mcdade 9
Rubey Mcdade 7
Lovada Mcdade 5
Bettie J Mcdade 1
Samuel Davis 24

Re: Frances Daughtery Tipton, wife of Maj Jonathan Tipton, b c.1754-5, Frederick Co VA; d. c.1780 Washington Co VA, dau of ?-Geo

Dear Tipton cousin,

I am related to two of Major Jonathan Tipton's sons: William H. Tipton and Samuel Tipton. Three of Major Jonathan Tipton's sons removed from east TN to KY. It has been said by the Daugherty family that the sons (referenced) of Frances Daugherty Tipton removed to Kentucky with John Daugherty.

It is my theory that the Tipton-Seiver feud had something to do with Major Jonathan Tipton and Frances Daugherty Tipton marriage ending. What is clear to me is that George Daugherty was on the Seiver-side of the Tipton-Seiver feud. The George Daugherty that you reference was probably a brother to Frances Tipton Daugherty. George Daugherty seems to be the son of George Daugherty.

Major Jonathan Tipton's second wife was Keziah (Robertson) Seiver who was married to Robert Seiver. Robert Seiver died from a wound from the Battle of Kings Mountain. Robert Seiver was a brother to John Seiver. John Seiver was the Seiver-side of the feud and Col. John Tipton, brother of Major Jonathan Tipton, was the other side of the feud. Keziah Robertson Seiver Tipton was the daughter of Col. Charles Robertson who was on the Seiver-side of the feud.

Major Jonathan Tipton and wife Keziah Robertson Tipton go across the mountians of east TN to live in NC. I tend to think they lived at Tipton Hill, NC based on the place name of Tipton Hill and a lot of their children lived near the area.

There has been debate about Keziah Robertson not married to Jonathan Tipton based on her father's will which referred to her as Keziah Seiver. Keep in mind that Keziah's father was on the Seiver-side of the feud. There were a lot of documents destroyed during the brief period of the Sate of Franklin. The third wife of Major Jonathan Tipton was Lavina Stephens.

There was a genealogy book on the Daughtery family of Estill County, Kentucky. The author of the book also wrote a Tipton genealogy.

Bobby Gilmer Moss's book "The Patriots at Kings Mountain" does not include George Daugherty. This is a great reference book!

Page 317, "History of the Lost State of Franklin" Williams:
"George Doherty, perhaps the son of George Doherty who was major in the North Carolina troops in the War of the Revolution, ..."

Page 98, "Isaac Shelby, A Driving Force in America's Struggle for Independence:
"Daugherty, George. A captain under Shelby and Sevier. Was Active in 1778 in keeping the Cherokees from joining the British. Was active in formation of Franklin and Tennessee. A captain in the later campaigns against the Indians."

Estill County Historiclal & Genealogical Society, Irvine, KY has a book that will answer your question. ECH&GS has a web site with an order form.

The book “Estill County and Its People, Volume 1 (one) has information about the John Daughetee family. The book is $17.00 which includes shipping.

Or you might write to the ECH&GS and request the cost of a copy of Mrs. Jack E. Cunningham’s article about John Daughetee in the book “Estill County and Its People, Volume 1 (one), pages 67-68. If you made a request, for a copy (article) also include a self-addressed envelope with postage for a reply.
Estill County Historical & Genealogical Society
133/135 Broadway
Irvine, Kentucky 40336

I am glad to supply a source of information on who were the parents of Frances Daughtery Tipton. But, I did not write or research the article published by ECH&GS and do not think it appropriate to do more than supply were to find the information that you seek.

We do know that John Daughetee or Daughtery was a an Uncle to William, Samuel, and John Tipton who were sons of Maj. Jonathan Tipton and his wife Frances P. (Daughtery) Tipton. And, that family tradition is that William, Samuel, and John Tipton left east TN for KY with their Uncle John Daughtery or Daughetee.

Major Jonathan Tipton, Battle of Kings Mountain, was a brother of Col. John Tipton.

Go to
www.loststatefilm.com

There is a film called "The Mysterious Lost State of Franklin" The Story of America's First Secession. The film is about the feud between Col. John Seiver, the first governor of TN, and Col. John Tipton. This film has been shown on PBS and is now for sale to the public.

There is no proof that Maj. Jonathan Tipton took the side of his brother, Col. John Tipton or Col. John Seiver who he served at the Battle of Kings Mountain. There were good reasons not to take a side in the dispute:

Maj. Jonathan Tipton's second marriage was to the widow (Keziah Robertson) of Capt. Robert Seiver who was a brother to Col. John Seiver. The children of Capt. Robert Seiver and Keziah (Robertson) were under Maj. Jonathan Tipton's care. Maj. Jonthan Tipton served Col. John Seiver in most of his battles which included the Battle of Kings Mountain.

During the time-period of the State of Franklin, both sides in the dispute were destroying court documents. Keziah Robertson Seiver, second wife of Maj. Jonathan Tipton, father was Col. Charles Robertson who supported Col. John Seiver. The best course of action for Keziah (Robertson) Seiver Tipton and Maj. Jonathan Tipton would have been to stay neutral (State of Franklin).

Maj. Jonathan Tipton was second in command to Col. John Seiver in most of his battles. There would have been a close bond for Jonathan Tipton to John Seiver. Considering Capt. Robert Seiver's children were under the care of Keziah (Robertson) Seiver Tipton and Jonathan Tipton, what was best for the Seiver children would have been to stay neutral in the State of Franklin dispute.

Thank you so much for answering my query. At the time I place the query, I waa a Registrar for a DAR Chapter and had two sisters who wanted to join the DAR. They descended from Hannah Tipton who married Robert Rogers. I did so much research on Hannah, finally someone at DAR national looked at the 52 DAR applications in on Maj. Jonathan Tipton and approved the sister's DAR applications.
This is an interesting family and there is a lot written about the Tiptons. I agree with you that the dispute was over the split between Jonathan and Frances. I also tried to find information on Frances' family thinking perhaps the sisters could go into the DAR on Frances' father.

Looking for any information on Kenneth's ancestors. I believe he was born in Ohio or Florida around the 1940's. He married Donna and they lived in the Cincinnati Ohio area for some years raising one son (Mark Kenneth Daugherty). They moved to Ronan, Montana in the 1970's and opened a Radio Shack store. Mark graduated in 1978 and Donna had second son born to her (Shawn) around 1979. I believe both Ken and Donna are still living; Ken and Shawn are living in Ohio. Would appreciate any help. I never got to meet my birth parents and would love for my daughter to get to know her ancestry as she is the daughter of Mark Kenneth Daugherty whom himself was born August 30, 1969. Thank you and may God Bless.

Thank you so much for all this information. I will pass it on. I was a Registrar with a DAR Chapter and two sisters only Rev War ancestor was Jonathan Tipton The line was proven and accepted by DAR. These sisters descend through Jonathan Tipton's and Frances Daughtery Tipton's daughter Hannah Tipton, who married Robert Rogers. The Robert Rogers family headed for Texas, it appears that Hannah died before they got to TX, the family settled in Roger's Prairie in TX. The sisters are in the Daughters of the Republic of TX through Robert Rogers.

My ancestor, Eleanor Ramsey, married a Samuel Tipton and lived in Cape Girardeau. I know there was a Daugherty who married Eleanor's sister, Elizabeth Ramsey. Does anyone have a connection for Samuel Tipton to the Ramsey and Daugherty families? I suspect Samuel Tiptom might in some way be related to Jonathan Tipton III, since the first wife was Frances Perlina Daugherty. Any information would be appreciated. alantz01@gmail.com

Hi Fran, This really has been a long time - I've been away from genealogy for about 5 years. You must be fairly close to Linda Kuykendahl I got a lot of information from her along the same lines you speak of. Before I get long winded I think I'll see if you get this.
Happy Hunting
Cousin Ivy June

I am not looking for any Daughtery, i just have info on the family as it is a family that a sibling of my family member married into. I have a William Daughtery m. to a Nancy Drum and their children. His parents were Daniel daughtery and Sarah Maloy. William and daniel born in Ireland and died in Monroe, Ohio. daniel was born 1780 and William in 1804. I posted incorrectly, I'm sorry, I was posting to share this info as I know it harder to find info on members born in other countries, since i came across this I wanted to share. My family is actually Lydia Drum, which was Nancy's sister.
