I am also trying to trace a Davidenko family from Stanitsa Slavyanskaia (or as its now known, Slavyansk-na-Kubani) in Kubana. I cannot yet match any of the names to yours but, based on dates, Timotheii Davidenko, the earliest ancestor I've identified at the closest could only be a brother of Ivan Ivanovich. Umanskiya (if that is the Umansk you refer to) is relatively close to Slavyansk but I cannot currently see the connection.

I have, however, identified numerous Davidenko families in the Kuban region so it seems like the surname was relatively common and any shared names are coincidental.

Born c 1860 Timothei who had children Alexis, Andrei and Anastasia and at least one other (names unknown)

All the following are born c 1890-1905. It is extremely probable that the Andrei here, is the son of Alexis, but I cannot confirm 100% at the moment.

Ivan davidenko who had children Alexander, Alexis, Andrei, Il'ya, Nina
and Pantel Davidenko who had children Dmitrii
and Pavlov Davidenko who had children Dmitrii
and Fedor Davidenko who had children Eugenia, Klavdiya
and Artem Davidenko who had children Fedor
and Andree Davidenko who had children Ivan, Pavel
and Stepan Davidenko who had children Ivan
and Yakovlei Davidenko who had children Nikolai
and Petrov Davidenko who had children Nina, Vasili
and Vasil Davidenko who had children Tamara

If you have any further information, please post!

Ben

Hi Elena,

It is interesting that Davidovich is a jewish surname. However, somewhere, and I don't know where, my family took the Catholic religion. But it seems as there is strong link to Russian and Poland Jewish desendants.

Hi,

Although I don't know much about the ancestory, I do know that we originated from Russia. My dad is Stephen J. Davidovich Jr., and his Dad was Stephen Davidovich. We live in the United States, east coast. In doing a search I see that a Steve Davidovich died in the early 1900's. Perhaps that is my great grandfather. I'd love to hear from you. There are nearly a ton of Davidovich's in Pennsylvania.!! Jess

Davidovich

Davidovich is a pretty common jewish last name. It can be "Davidovich", "Dovidovich", Davidovitz", etc. My great granfather name was Solomon Gershevich Davidovich. He temporarily left his family in Russia and came to America back to around 1918-1920. He wrote letter and asked his family (wife and child) to come to America, but they didn't want to (don't know why). There are many Davidovich in Russia and in Poland. You should find out where your roots are coming from. I always wanted to find out if my great granfather re-married, and maybe I have relatives... But it is very hard to do I guess.

Davidovich

my great-grandfather left his family (wife daughter) during Civil War to USA through Hibrin. He has contacted his family to move with him later, but they refused (kind of stupid). His name was Solomon Gershevich Davidovich. His birth year - 1890 (maybe approximately). He might changed his first name when he came here. And my guess that he re-married since he was very young (early 30s). I would be very interested in finding any relatives!
