Hello T Stevenson,

I'm sorry, I have no Information on William Davidson (Wagonmaker) who appears on the 1842 Nassagaweya Township census. It is possible that William is a brother, or at least a relative of Andrew Davidson, since they had both been in Canada 14 years according to information on this 1842 Nassagaweya census. They'd have immigrated about 1828. I have the following siblings for Andrew b. 1809:
Eliza b.1793, Letitia b. 1801, Robert b. 1801 and Thomas b. 1804.
Good luck with your search.

William Davidson -- 1842

Hello,I am also researching a William Davidson who appears on the 1842 census in Nassagaweya twp. The only information given on the census is his occupation as a wagonmaker. Do you possibly have any information on him, could he be Andrew's brother perhaps? I believe William died before 1850 in the area. There is also a William Davidson who petitioned for land in Nelson Twp. in 1824. I believe it could be the same man but I need more info. Any help in this would be most appreciated.

Do you know who published it? If you want to correspond thru e-mail. My e-mail is jtdfla@aol.com. You are a distant cousin of my husband.
Did your William Davison\Davidson have a daughter named Jane or Jean?

I am looking for a William Davison\Davidson who signed a statement authorizing Jane\Jean Davison to marry Wm White (George White) in Lincoln County, KY in 1803.

I suspect your William may be the right person if he was in the area of Lincoln Kentucky that eventually became Casey County and later part of Boyle County.
What I have are books completed by the Tim Huddlestion. Has a copy of the Davidson family from Abner who moved to Pickette co. And based on the book may have been one of the first families. All I have are afew stories. It seems that Leath Davidson one of William C Davidsons Daghter may have had children with out being married. She was the mother of my G Grand father Jolly Davidson.

Nancy Davidson -- Richard Field(s) connection

I just recently confirmed that the father of my 4 great grandmother was Richard Fields. He was born in North Carolina or Virgina (based on 1880 census info of his children). I believe he is the SAME Richard Fields who married Nancy Davidson in Grainger County TN in 1806. Richard (and Nancy?) had these children that I know about: Richard born abt 1807 died in California in 1848, GOLDER born 1808 in TN, Cynthia born 1817 in Alabama, Maria born 1818 in Alabama, Nancy --no birth info available but she died in California in 1847, Eliza born 1821 Alabama, Frances born 1823 in Alabama, and Rhodicia aka Dicey born 1827 in Alabama. I believe Richard Jr. and Nancy may have traveled to California with the Enoch Cyrus party, (Enoch son of Nimrod) in 1846.

Richard was living in Adams County, Illinois by 1830. Eliza, Maria, Frances, and Goulder, along with their respective spouses, all traveled to California in the early 1850's. Dicey and her husband came a bit later. But by 1860 they were all living near one another in Danville California.

Can anyone confirm whether the Richard Fields who married Nancy Davidson, moved to Illinois and was the father of these children. My Richard is obviously part Fields clan who intermarried with the Fields for so many years, (based on the names of the children.

William Davidson -- of Charlotte, NC

My gggggrandfather was William Davidson of Charlotte, NC. He was born 1778 (some say in NC, some say in Charleston, SC). He became a US Congressman from NC, and also served several terms in NC legislature. He married Sarah Frew Davidson, the widow of his uncle Thomas Davidson (d 1800). Some state his parents are James Davidson and Mary Nixon. Does anybody have any PROOF of his parents and grandparents? I keep going around in circles and cannot confirm his parents. I have all my ducks in a row from Wm down, but need the ducks to line up from Wm backwards.

Where did members of this family live in America? There was an Alexander Davison who died in Charles City County, VA sometime after 1690, and a William Davidson died in James City County, VA in 1687. A Hezekiah Davidson died in Cumberland County, VA in 1793 (my definite ancestor). A David Davidson died in Charles City County, VA in 1687, and he had been in James City County, VA before that. His naturalization papers in 1686 state that David was born in Holland (where many Scots lived in those days). Comments?

The Alexander Davidson who was supposedly out of Dingwall, Scotland (but no one has been able to produce any proof of that origin)....and whose family was later in Gloucester Co., VA....was a member of DNA "Family 8" at www.davidsongenes.org. As can be seen at that website within "Family 8," we have numerous male Davidson DNA donors from that overall family. That family was apparently in Gloucester Co., VA and then in Spotsylvania Co., VA. The "branch" of that overall Davidson family that has received the most research is the "branch" that was headed by Reverend Alexander Davidson who was born in VA around 1743. Reverend Alexander left Spotsylvania Co., VA and moved to NC, and he then settled in Barren Co., KY. The other "branches" of that overall Davidson family need more research.

Simone,
I just started the family research. I was lucky enough to find a contact that filled in a lot of information for me. The oldest information I have is one Alexander Davidson and from what I can tell was born on Aug 8,1648 in Dunfermline Scotland. He died in 1711 in Cupar Fife Scotland or possibly Dingwall Scotland. He married Sarah McDavid who was born in 1652. They were married sometime in 1689 in Scotland and had four children William, Phillip, Hezekiah, and Alexander. This has all become a new hobby of mine so I am still aquiring lots of knowledge on how to and where to find information.
Wendy

Hi Wendy

I am very interested in you message. My maiden name is Davidson. I am from Liverpool. My great grandfather was Walter Uriah Davidson born 1869/1870. I am only just starting to research his side of the family. My grandfather always said that his father had come to Liverpool from Scotland, although I am not sure from which area.

Walter's father was named George Parkin Davidson.

I have searched for the birth of Walter in the GRO indexes for England in Wales and I could not find him, so I feel my grandfather ( Robert Parkin Davidson b1899 d1973) must have been right about Scotland.

I know that Davidson is a common name for Scotland, but do you know of any link with your Davidsons?

Also do you know if census for Scotland 1871 is online.

Thank you for your advice in anticipation.

Regards

Simone

By continuously narrowing the search, the William B Davidson you noted appears to have been born in 1862 at Kirkpatrick Durham, Kinkcudbright. A slight disparity with your 1854 birth; however Scotlandspeople might now help. No proof but that information corresponds to someone who remains in Kirkpatrick Durham living as a grandson and working latterly as a stone worker until at least 1901.

Scotlands People search for Davidson in Statutory Register Births Scotland 1855-1875

Hi,
I did a free seach on Scotlands People and found one match for a William Bell(e) Davidson between 1855-1875. I NEVER find one match -- usually find thousands; so, I was hoping someone who searches Scotlands People regularly could check this record out for me.
Here's the info: William Bell(e) Davidson born Feb 11 1854 (so his headstone says). We don't know where in Scotland but we believe he came from Glasgow--might have just caught the boat there! Thanks in advance for your help!!

Interesting . We on this side of the pond never really knew much about relatives there. My Dad ,Bill Davidson ,went to Scotland in 1980 and I remember a pic of him in front of what the post office there called it, "the Milne house". The house Margaret was born in . Probably where all were born. He forgot the name of the town. Like I said earlier , Margaret had 5 kids ... #1-Margaret G. (Marnie) b. July 29 1920 d. My Gran was always talking about her family and past when she was alive. My Gran didn't know she had an auntie because my gran never spoke of her. My mum and auntie found out about Margaret milne when they went to a family funeral after my gran had died.

She passed away in 1970 and my g'father passed in 1973.
got a question ...why did you start looking in sept of 2010? was it because of a death in the family?
The five brothers mentioned in the first post in this overall "thread of posts" were members of DNA "Family 7" (see the "Family Results" section at www.davidsongenes.org). That family....including those five brothers....were almost certainly never in Gloucester Co., VA. The Davidson family that apparently WAS in Gloucester Co., VA in the late-1600s or early-1700s was the totally unrelated DNA "Family 8." DNA "Family 8" was headed by an Alexander Davidson who died over in the Spotsylvania Co., VA area in the 1740s. One his sons became Reverend Alexander Davidson, and the Reverend was born in Spotsylvania Co., VA around 1743-1744. The Reverend then moved to NC for a while, before settling in Barren Co., KY.

Note: There were ultimately multiple Davidson/Davison families in Barren Co., KY, with DNA "Family 8" being just one of them.

The above are two totally separate/unrelated Davidson families, that for some reason have often been "confused" and incorrectly "intertwined" by some researchers. DNA "Family 7" came to the Bedford/Campbell Co., VA area from PA by at least the late-1770s, and they spread "far and wide" from there. Most think that DNA "Family 8" probably came directly to VA from Ireland, and while that may certainly be correct, I have seen no proof of that. We have many living male Davidson descendants from each of the two above-referenced families who have taken the DNA test....and the DNA "markers" are quite different between those two families.

Note: For those who believe (or know) that they are members of DNA "Family 8," many files/charts on Reverend Alexander Davidson that have been published and/or posted on the internet over the years have a major error concerning the Reverend's son who was named James Davidson. It now seems essentially certain that the Reverend's son named James was NOT the James Davidson who married the widow Mrs. Nancy (Martin) Isbell, NOR the James Davidson who married Martha Patterson. Those two James Davidsons now strongly appear to have been unrelated to Reverend Alexander Davidson, and they were probably unrelated to each other, as well. Per conventional "documentation research," the James Davidson who married the widow Mrs. Nancy (Martin) Isbell MAY have been a member of DNA "Family 1" (albeit, no proof at this time), while the James Davidson who married Martha Patterson MAY have been a member of the above-referenced DNA "Family 7" (but also no proof at this time).

Randy I aint got a clue to MARTHA P DAVIDSON.
I have got MARTHA wrong on JOHN and WM G DAV-
IDSON. I had my wires crossed. She isnt with
either one. As far as I know she isnt in my
line anywhere. I dont know who WM DAVIDSONS
children were other than CHARLTON B DAVIDSON.
I also dont know who WM's bros an sis's were
or their parents. It is possible that WALTER
DAVIDSON was a bro not the father of WILL D.
I have found a marriage of WALTER DAVIDSON to
an INDIAN girl in VA,mid 1700's. I aint got
no idy as my PAWPAW GREGORY used to say GOD
BLESS HIM. If you run across anything give me
a shout. GREG DAVIDSON

I spent a good part of today trying to relate your William and Elizabeth with my family but never made a connection. Are you related to MARTHA P. DAVIDSON? If so, then we are related. Do you have more info on JOHN and WILLIAM GOOLMAN DAVIDSON? Sorry I can't help more on your end but my trail ends at MARTHA P. I looked on internet for listings in DAVIDSON CO.'S cemetaries for WILLIAM ELIZABETH didn't find them. Thanks for the info on MARTHA P.

Hi Randy I received your E-mail. As far as I
know the only time I have ever ran across the
MARTHA P DAVIDSON name was in connection with
JOHN and WILLIAM GOOLMAN DAVIDSON. I believe it was her who married in early 1800s in Wil-
son Co TN. I might be wrong all the way around. I just remember her name from WILSON
CO TN,either from a will or marriage. I also
think she either had a son or brother who was
WILLIAM P DAVIDSON,also a son or bro FRANCIS P DAVIDSON.That is all I know of her. I have
tried for years to find the parents of WILL-
IAM DAVIDSON who married ELIZABETH CHARLTON 21 April 1785 in Montgomery Co VA. ELIZABETH
DAVIDSON was the daughter of JOHN and ELIZAB-
ETH ROBINSON CHARLTON from PA. I had thought
that WILLIAM DAVIDSON's Father was WALTER DA-
VIDSON who died 1784-1785 in Montgomery Co VA. Because he names his heir at law WILLIAM
DAVIDSON of DRAPER MEADOWS who sells WALTER
DAVIDSON's land also in Draper Meadows. Plus
that is where the CHARLTONS,WINTERS,CALDWELLS
and TAYLORS are and all these men married the
CHARLTON daughters. Trouble is I cant prove it. Also all these family names are in middle
TN same time and place. I also can only find the 1 child of WILLIAM and ELIZABETH DAVIDSON
who happens to be my line. He is CHARLTON B
DAVIDSON who married SALLIE M BARKSDALE. She
was the daughter of DANIEL an POLLY WATSON
BARKSDALE. They all came to TODD CO KY.Except
WILLIAM and ELIZABETH DAVIDSON who I think
both died in DAVIDSON CO TN 1830s. I wish I
knew more, but dont. Thanks for any light you
can shed on my branch of the DAVIDSON family.
GREG DAVIDSON. CARMEND@MIDWEST.NET
