Did your Samuel Dee have a brother named Claude Raymond Dee or Raymond Claude Dee? Bernadina Harkins Dee married someone named Dee. I've seen her husband's name written both ways. She was from Pittsburgh and later they were in Ontario.

Hope your travel to Italy was a wonderful and safe experience. Did you happen to run across any records in Sicily? My Ggrandfather Antonino DiDia was born in Marsalas abt 1895 and came to America abt 1914. I am having a hard time getting any records for him and wondered if you had any luck.

My great grandmother Mary Ann Elizabeth Kearley was borb c 1859 and died 4th April 1925 in Kings Stanley Gloucestershire UK. She married Joseph Dee.
Her parents were Robert Kearley and Ellen. Robert was a labourer and the census details I have show he came from the mainland.
Robert and Ellen married 16th March 1915 at Brock Road Wesleyan Chapel in Guernsey although I know that they did live in Alderney for a while.
I have been unable to trace where in England Robert was born although there are Kearleys at that time around Portsmouth on the south coast. My grandmother, Edith Harriet Dee was born in St Peterport Guernsey.

Thank you for the quick follow up. We are now looking to incorporate Marsalas into our trip. After further research on Ancestry.com, I am pretty sure I found the passenger list and census information from my great grandparents. All documentation references Marsalas.

my great grandfather was Antonino DiDia. He arrived in US around 1914 via Ellis Island. Don't have much information but he has family still living in Sandusky OH. They were from Marsalas. I don't have any information of his family other than a few cousins in Sandusky. My ggfather was a shoemaker. Hope you have a great trip.....would love to take one there myself

I just asked my husband, and they are from Marsala. I know that alot of the old records are gone from all of the invasions and such. Most of the families still live in the same neighborhoods.

Hi,

It looks like this is an old thread but had some activity in 2007.

My maiden name is DiDia. My grandfather Carl DiDia was born and raised in NJ but his eldest brother Jerome DiDia was born in Sicily in 1913 before setting in NJ/FL.

I will be visiting Sicily in two weeks and am interested in tracking the DiDia roots. Do you know what part of Sicily the DiDia's are from? Unfortunately we do not have the information from when they came to America.

Any help is appreciated.

My name is Michael F Dee and I am also looking for my family ancestry (paternal) from Ireland. I am rather new to the search ... less than a week. My father Maurice William Dee (USA) was the son of Timothy Joseph (S) Dee (USA), who was the son of Maurice Dee (IRE) and Johanna H or A (IRE). Maurice/Johanna's children include William H, Timothy S (J), Francis E, Julia F, Lucy V and Thomas all USA. I have found many transcription errors regarding names/spellings.
Presently, I am searching within USA database. I only have information up to my grandfather Timothy J Dee (not complete)
I do not have access to the World Ancestry database. I will obtain that on April 6th 2009 via Ancestry.com.

My grandfather was Charles Edward Dee, but it is rumored that his name was really Davis, and that he took his mother's maiden name of Dee, after deserting from the Spainish American War. He would have been a young boy at that time if the story is true.

I had a grandpa Charles Dee, although it is unclear as to whether or not Dee is his name that he was born with. There is a rumor that his name was Davis, and that he was a deserter in the Spanish American War. He lived in Minnesota until his death in 1948. He married Myrtle Alice Johnston/Johnson. He lived in the Brainerd, Meadowlands, and Duluth area.

I do remember you and I remember the wedding (mom had tons of photos of it).
I'm at a loss on Charles, although I just started tracing the Dee side of my family, like yesterday .. lol!
Do you happen to know what Virginia's (my grandmother/your aunt) mothers name was by chance? I always remembered her as being "Grandma Dee". Of course when I was little I thought that was her name LOL!

My grandmother was Virginia Myrtle (maiden name Dee) Beede (who lived in Duluth, MN), whose father was Charles Dee (I believe) and he was suppose to be born in Bowling Green, KY.
I do not know who his parents were, but as far as I know, Charles' mother was Native American indian and his father was Scots/Irish.
I have learned this from my second cousin Sharon Dee (my grandmother's niece) from another site.

I appreciate you have to be careful with folks that pop out of the woodwork claiming to be relatives. But my brother lost total contact with his mother when he was young. You can understand, therefore, any information on her life afterwards or any photographs would mean the world to him.

The 1911 census has just been published in England and it confirms that Flora had a sister Nellie. Their father was John Joseph Zanetti (Giovanni) and he ran a restaurant near Kings Cross.

Flora had two sons by my dad (Arthur Britnell)- Derek and Anthony.

Thanks for the reply Alan. I am in England. My brother's mother was Flora Ida Zanetti and I thought Nellie might have been her sister.

Flora passed away in the 1980s but my brother hadnt seen her since he was a little boy, and I thought it would be a wonderful surprise if I could track down any of Flora's living family.

Are you aware of any of Nellie's siblings?

Hi Nichol,

My maternal grandmother was a Dee from Cullinagh, Kilmeaden, County Waterford. Most of her family emigrated to Worcester, Massachusetts in the U. S. but there is in the family a story/rumor/report that one of her brothers, Joseph Dee, went to Australia. Contact with him then ceased. This would probably have been in 1890 or so, perhaps a little later.

Any comments would be appreciated.

This is where our family trail hits a dead end. Jay Dee Barnes moved to PA, then to MN, and had children(my line), no idea where or how Mary Dee Barnes died or where.

Since I posted last I have learned that Charles and Fay did have two children, but they both past at very young ages.

Would like to know when and where Charles passed and if he ever remarried. I know that Fay is buried at St. Matthews Cemetery in St. Louis with her children.

Would like to know the date of Harry's death, I only have the year. Also, where he was born and date he was buried and his middle name. Would also like to know the marriage date of Harry and Ruth.

Would also like there mom's maiden name, I only have Rosella. When and where she was born. And the marriage date of her and Edward.

Fay and Ruth Sallee where my grandmothers sisters. My grandmother was Georgia Anna Sallee.
How are you related?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Glad to share any info I have with you.

I am trying to find out about Maud Dee's(Hoskins) background.She was born a Dee to John Thomas Dee and Edith Mary Harding in 1894 but was adopted sometime after her that by Walter Hoskins.The Hoskins family lived in Melbourne Street in Portsmouth in 1901 and Walter Hoskins lived there with his daughter Ellen Kinnersley (nee Hoskins)who had three children,Nellie,Gladys,and Louise.Nellie had a daughter in 1917 also called Nellie and Gladys married a Dilley.Louise died aged 16yrs in 1909.The Hoskins family also lived at 1 to 3 Gold Street which I believe was a pub called the Royal Stag.I also believe that Nellie's daughter married a Moran and ran this pub in 1934.Maud Dee married a John Thomas Garner in 1917 and moved to Oakham in Rutland.
I know the above information is complicated but would be very grateful for any information as Maud Dee's early years are a bit of a mystery!We do not know why she was adopted.Any information regarding any of the above names and their descendents would be of great interest to me.

Hi, a bit of a long shot, my family lived in Hook Norton, Oxford, i have a William Dee abt 1796, and a son Thomas abt 1832, have you found any possible link as i dont think william was born in Hook Norton although he seems to have stayed there judging by the census returns untill his death in abt 1869,Thomas married a lucy Holloway 1858 & had several children, yours J

Hi thanks for your mail,William 1789 my 3rg G/grandfather seems to have spent his entire life in Hook norton Oxford he died 1869, have found one son Thomas Dee b 1831 Hook norton, he married a Lucy Holloway 1858,(have Cert) they had twelve children, they lived in Birminghan & later Lichfield, have found the family on all census records, does this tie in with your family, as i have not got back with certanty as far as you. regards j
