Hi
I am the great grandson of James' brother William Dee who remained in the family home in Hidcote Boyce Gloucestershire where I now live with my family!
The family is aware of the Thomas and his family after they emigrated but know little about what happened to James... although there is another James who was the second son of William who emigrated around the turn of the century toegtehr with his brother William and was a butcher as far as we know. I believe his parents are George Kearly born in England about and Jane Simons but am currently working on more information regard this. I do have his other siblings & his parents Peter Philip Kearley born 5 July 1855. I have 2 dates for his death, not sure which one is correct 8 Sept 1928 or 28 Nov 1928 in Marpole,B.C. wife Elizabeth Jane Le Gros Bisson, died 17 Mar 1930 in Oakland, California. I do not have their marriage date or place, if you could please post it. Their children were Florence, Peter John, George Philip, Clarence Henry, Lizzie, Wm Charles & Stanly Charles. I do have their birth dates etc.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I am not getting e-mail notifications from mail on ancestry.com for some reason. I live in Connecticut, USA ... My Dad was a Maurice as well as his Grandfather. My Great grandfather Maurice immigrated from Ireland in the late 1800's. He married a woman named Johanna who also immigrated from Ireland in the late 1800's. I do not have her last name yet. A trip to their hometown library to view their marriage certificate might have that information. I am hopeful. This is my brick wall so far. I don't remember hearing of any Garretts in my family verbal history.

My great grandmother was Mary Ann Elizabeth Kearley and her father was Robert.
They lived in The Channel Islands (Alderney & Guernsey) late 19c but according to census information they had moved from the UK mainland. In 1901 they are in Stroud UK. Does this connect with you?

Both Minnie and Paddy Dee came from Ireland. I don't believe they met or married till they were here in the United States. They lived in the NYC area. They had at least one child, Mary Dee. Mary married a man with the last name of Jambor. They had at least three children, Rosemary, born in 1948, Patricia, who was born in 1951 and died in 1956, and Joan, born in 1956. I would like any information on the Dee or Jambor family. The Jambor's lived for a time in Flushing,NY.

The Dee family of Lahardan appear in the Tithe record and again in Griffiths Valuation. They, along with the Hennessys, were the major occupiers of that Townland. Irish BDM have a long list of Dee birth, marriage and death records from Lahardan and the Ballybunion area. My GGGrandmother, Anna Hennessy was born there and I believe it was her sister Margaret Hennessy that married Garrett (Gerald) Dee. I haven't come across a Maurice Dee yet but I'll let you know if I do.

13 so I am hoping he came with family (parents???)

Records from Ireland are sparce ... Maurice (Morris)came here 1860's.

There was a Garrett Dee born in Lahardane, Kerry, Ireland and baptised in Ballybunion 12 July 1835. His parents were Garrett Dee and Margaret Hennessy.

Looking for any birth or family info for Verna Abina Dee, married Edmund Barnes, likley in NY and lived as Abina Barnes per the censuses after 1880 in PA. Her son John Dee Barnes's death certificate says she was born in Ire., census state her birth year should be 1840(or 39-41).

I am also from Connecticut, New Haven area. My paternal grandmother was a Dee, Catherine Dee, daughter of Peter and Maggie Dee of Cullinagh, Kilmeaden, Co. Waterford Ireland. She, Catherine, ended up in Massachusetts where she met & married my grandfather, They lived for some time in Worcester where there were lots of others from the Waterford area, including a brother of hers named Maurice. I think Mautice Dee is a fairly common name. My Dee relatives all came over in the 1885-1900 period as far as I can make out.

There seem to be lots of Dees in, or from, the area between Waterford City and Dungarven for example.

Any connections?

Sorry for the delayed response ... I haven"t been on for a long time. There are a lot of Dees out there ... I am sure we are all related somehow. I have gotten as far back to my GGFather Maurice Dee ... wife Johanna (last name???). I am stuch at this point. I'm thinking about requesting professional help from Ancestry.com.

There is a Dee Clan website on the internet ... i plan to check with them as well.

I am from Connecticut, New Haven area. My family is mostly in the North East.
My Great Grand Grandfather, Maurice Dee immigrated from Ireland sometime after 1850. His wife was Johanna (last name???) also from Ireland. That's as far as I have gotten in my search on the Dee lineage. I seemed to have hit a wall.
I may have a professional search done but have not decided.

where are you from michael? I had family from Lincoln, Nebraska. My grandfathers mother was Mary Dee , her parents were John Dee and Anna Lynch Dee and there were family members whose names were Maurice. Garrett Dee was the father of John Dee, who we believe, (Garrett) was born in Ireland. Please respond.

Thanks for your comment but as far as I know, these Dee's are not related to me family as we have been in Causeway since the the 1830's and I have no records of any member of our family marrying into that side of the county.

Jeremiah Dee of Drumnacurra, Causeway, Co. Kerry passed away yesterday at 4.30pm. He was 84 years old. He was a son of Jeremiah Dee and Hannah Griffin and the youngest of 7 children. He is survived by his eldest sister Mary, nieces Helen Quilter and Joan Breen and grand-niece and grand-nephews.

Im not sure if they are the same Dee's. My grandmother seems to think that her family (Dee) have been in and around Causeway since 1820. Before that she thinks they may have come from near Barrow. I havent been able to find any evidence of records before that, even parish baptismal records have proved useless. But thank you for the reply and maybe it will help to fill a gap somewhere along the way.

I do have Dees from Co. Kerry, but they are mostly from the Tralee area, as far as I know. There are Johns among them, however. They are all related back to Dr. John Dee, QEI's famous astrologer. Does that sound familiar? They seemed to have emigrated about the mid 1800's.

The earliest member of this branch of my tree is John Dee who was married to Honora Houlihan. They lived in Drumnacurra, Causeway Co. Kerry. They had a son Michael who married Margaret Loughnane from Glanballyma, Abbeydorney Co. Kerry. They had a son Jeremiah who married Hannah Griffin. Charles Culver Dee & Harry Dee - MO

Charles Culver Dee married Fay Maretta Sallee in St. Louis MO on 2 Dec 1912. I have been told he was a Baptist Minister. Charles & Fay had no children. Fay died in 1950.

Harry Dee is brother to Charles. He married Ruth A. (Sallee) Freund, sister of Fay Maretta (Sallee) Dee. This was her second marriage. Ruth died 2 Dec 1970 in DeSoto MO. Harry & Ruth had no children, Ruth had 3 children from her first marriage.

Would like to learn more about Charles Culver Dee & Harry Dee.

I read a post that you had on rootsweb.com message board for the Dee family regarding Charles and Harry Dee. I believe they were brothers to Ivan Elmer Dee who died Jan 1, 1929 as the result of some sort of accident?? Ivan was married to a Loraine according to his death record.

My uncle Leo C. Nissen married a Loraine Carpenter Dee in 1932. They lived in St. Louis and are together when he got out of the service in 1943. They either divorced or she died as he later married again.

Do you have any further information or know of another family member that I could contact?

I am looking for information about Loraine Carpenter Dee who married Leo Christian Nissen in 1932 in Missouri and lived in St. Louis. Last record shows them living at 4924 McPherson, St. Louis as late as Mar 1943. Leo later married Mildred Honiker so not sure what happened to Loraine. Was Carpenter her middle name or was she previously married?

Did your Samuel Dee have a brother named Claude Raymond Dee or Raymond Claude Dee? Bernadina Harkins Dee married someone named Dee. I've seen her husband's name written both ways. She was from Pittsburgh and later they were in Ontario.

Hope your travel to Italy was a wonderful and safe experience. Did you happen to run across any records in Sicily? My Ggrandfather Antonino DiDia was born in Marsalas abt 1895 and came to America abt 1914. I am having a hard time getting any records for him and wondered if you had any luck.

My great grandmother Mary Ann Elizabeth Kearley was borb c 1859 and died 4th April 1925 in Kings Stanley Gloucestershire UK. She married Joseph Dee.
Her parents were Robert Kearley and Ellen. Robert was a labourer and the census details I have show he came from the mainland.
Robert and Ellen married 16th March 1915 at Brock Road Wesleyan Chapel in Guernsey although I know that they did live in Alderney for a while.
I have been unable to trace where in England Robert was born although there are Kearleys at that time around Portsmouth on the south coast. My grandmother, Edith Harriet Dee was born in St Peterport Guernsey.

my great grandfather was Antonino DiDia. He arrived in US around 1914 via Ellis Island. Don't have much information but he has family still living in Sandusky OH. They were from Marsalas. I don't have any information of his family other than a few cousins in Sandusky. My ggfather was a shoemaker. Hope you have a great trip.....would love to take one there myself

I just asked my husband, and they are from Marsala. I know that alot of the old records are gone from all of the invasions and such. Most of the families still live in the same neighborhoods.

It looks like this is an old thread but had some activity in 2007.

My maiden name is DiDia. My grandfather Carl DiDia was born and raised in NJ but his eldest brother Jerome DiDia was born in Sicily in 1913 before setting in NJ/FL.

I will be visiting Sicily in two weeks and am interested in tracking the DiDia roots. Do you know what part of Sicily the DiDia's are from? Unfortunately we do not have the information from when they came to America.
