Elly Deer, Monroe County, AL

Does anyone out there have information on Elly Deer of Monroe County, AL? Believe it was my ggrandmother's uncle. Trying to locate documentation that Joanna Hart's mother was Lizzie Deer and that her brother Elly was named guardian of her three children after her husband Edwin Hart died in the Civil War. Elly moved from Conecuh County, AL to Monroe County, AL but died at age 34. Believe Lizzie remarried after the war and Elly's guardianship ended. Does anyone have a copy of a record of such?

Looking for information on Henry Hart family. Believe one of his sons to be Edwin Hart who died in the Civil War. Believe Edwin married Lizzie Deer and fathered three children - Joanna, Henry and John. Located reference to a document posted by Stephen Klein on the Hart Family Tree that says the three minor children of Edwin Hart were left in the guardianship of Elly Deer after his death. Believe Elly Deer to be the younger brother of Lizzie and am looking for documentation to prove the connection.

One of JPD's sons, named Elly, born about 1837 was named guardian of the three minor children of Edwin Hart who died in the Civil War. A document was referred to by Stephen Klein in an online family tree several years ago. The document itself was not attached to Elly's record. Does anyone out there have a copy of that document? I believe the three Hart children included Joanna, Henry and John. Joanna was my ggrandmother and I am looking for verification of the line.

Deeerr Family Cullman AL

I am searching for information of the Deerr family of Cullman, Alabama. My great grandfather was William F. Deerr born on May 6, 1883 in Alabama. I know very little about this branch of my tree because William (a Lutheran) married my great grandmother, Carrie Hafling (a Catholic) and was ostercized from his family as a result of this union. They were married in 1901 in Cullman, Alabama and later move with Carrie's family to Louisville, KY. My grandmother thought that William's fathers name was also William and his mothers name was Mary Kraft but she was not sure. I know that William had a brother by the name of John Deerr. John helped his brother William and his wife Carrie move and then he moved on to Illinois. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Quite a bit is posted on the Germanna Colony on line and I was able to go back to Martin and Johannes' grandfather whose name is Johannes. He was born in Bern, Switzerland. I trace my lineage through Johannes and our name was changed by my Grandmother to include the extra E at the end. My Great Grandfather had just the Deer name.

Hi
My wife's grandmother Grace Dear Redman was a great grand daught of Amos' cousin Fountain Dear. Her husband Perry Redman was supposed to be of Native American ancestry but she claimed to be more NA than him. On my father-in-law's birth certificate she filled in Perry's race as white and hers as "American." I am attaching a picture of Fountain Dear and his children by his first wife Betty Minnick. There must be NA back there someplace via an orphan or NA mother but on paper they all are of German ancetry. You will have to look at the picture on the message board because to list will not show it.

Ted

My great grandfather's dad was John W. Deer who I think is Isaac's brother. He died in Pulaski, MO. I was able to trace our heritage back to Germany and then to Switzerland through Johannes Hirsh who arrived in Culpepper, VA.

Benjamin Franklin Deer/Seminole Indian Heritage?

I am trying to help my half-uncle verify possible Indian heritage in his ancestry. At present, the only information I have on the Deer line is as follows:

Lois June Deer was born March 13, 1929 in Indiana and died August 9, 1995 in California. Lois was married atleast twice that I know of. Known husbands were Richard Lee Brown and Earl Osgood. It is believed that her parents were Benjamin Franklin Deer and Genevieve (sp?) Maban.

We think the Indian heritage may be somewhere in this line and might be Seminole. Any additional information on this line would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help.

OK, let's see if I can keep this straight. I just started family history and I am the granddaughter of Edna Ellen Deer Stewart, daughter of Amos Franklin Deer son of John Wilson Deer son of Amos Deer son of Ruben Deer son of John Deer. My grandmother Edna died in 1928 and her father died in 1899 and her mother in 1894, she and her brother William were raised by their grandmother Louisa Hudson Deer. Let me know if you kept up with all of this. Oh, my connections with the Deers are all from Missouri and Virginia I think.

Joyce

Mattie Deer

I know this is a real longshot but I figured I'd try. I recently found out that my great-grandmother, Mattie Deer, was adopted. So, it turns out I'm not blood-related to the Deers. But I would like to find out who her birth parents were if possible. If there's anyone out there who can provide with some clues or information, I would greatly appreciate it.

Mattie was the daughter of Isaac and Vivian Deer. She was born in April of 1895, in Missouri (I think). Isaac Deer was born and died in Missouri and their other children were born there, so I'm assuming that's where they adopted Mattie.

Thank you!

I never had anything in my notes that a Deer married a Rushing. I have a name of a man who researches Deer family lines but I have not been in contact with some time.

Gene Dear
5616 North Assembly St.
Spokane, WA 99205
509-325-7241 This is from a 2000 email but I did call him a few years ago. He was working on a book on Deer families and how they connect and has helped me greatly plus I supplied some info on the Deer family who moved to Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri. My family started from two Hirsch brothers who came over from Germany in the 1700s . landing and settling in Virginia, and both brothers changed their last namr to Deer. This is Culpeper County, Virginia. My ancester was John Deer. I hope this helps.
