Sale for Degruise, Degruy, and other spellings Family DNA Project

The Degruy DNA Project has been establish. At the present time, there is a great sale going on at FamilyTree DNA. Through our group and the sale, you can save $140 off the cost of a 37 marker YDNA test over the price of purchasing it as an individual outside our group. The current price is only $119. There has never been a lower price.

It is a great time to join. You can do this online through FamilyTree DNA and pay by credit card.

Due to popular demand FamilyTree DNA is extending its Sizzling Summer Sale until September 30th! The following big incentives are being offered:

Product Promotion Original Sale
Y-DNA12 Free mtDNA $189 $99
Y-DNA25 Free mtDNA $238 $148
Y-DNA37 Reduced $189 $119
Y-DNA37+mtDNA Reduced $339 $189
Y-DNA67 Reduced $269 $218
Y-DNA67+mtDNAplus Reduced $409 $288
mtDNAplus Reduced $189 $149

IMPORTANT: This promotion requires that payment is either made by credit card or received by the conclusion of the sale on September 30th, 2008.

To assist with the Degruy YDNA Project, you need to be a direct male descendant from a Degruy family line or a line of one of the numerous variant spellings of this surname. Ladies, you are welcome to enlist your husbands, if they are the descendant, sons, cousins, uncles and so on. You can also join the project if you are a direct female to female to female line to a female Degruy ancestor. The mtDNA tests are also on sale.

We recommend doing at least the 37 marker Y-DNA to truly define the Degruy family branch from which you descend. The top two bargains are the Y-DNA37+mtDNAplus and the
Y-DNA67mtDNAplus. This will provide your immediate family with both the Degruy line going back and your mother's line also going back to her mother, grandmother, etc.

If you are a female, the only DNA test you can do is the mtDNAplus. However, you can save money if you have a brother who is willing to do either the 37 marker or 67 marker Y-DNA test +mtDNAplus.

Men carry both the Y and X chromosomes, therefore your brother can get results for both your male direct line and your mother's female direct line through the combined tests. It costs less than just you doing the mtDNA testing and him doing just the Y-DNA testing. The information you will receive will be the same. To sweeten the pot for your brother, offer to pay for the difference between his 37 or 67 marker test to upgrade it with one that includes the
+mtDNAplus. This makes it a win-win situation for everyone.

For a more indepth explanation of both Y-DNA results and mtDNA results go to http://www.familytreedna.com/

If you are the researcher, but not a direct male or female descendant, you can help to encourage the relative who you find to be the donor by offering to share the cost of the testing. Only one male in a family needs to be tested because all male siblings most likely have exactly the same DNA. With this in mind, maybe a family with several siblings would all chip in to have one of the gentlemen in the family tested. The older the generation being tested the better, but this certainly is not a deal breaker if that individual is not into this "new fangled" technology.

If you have any additional questions, please feel free to e-mail me at robindaviet@cs.com

Use the link below to join the project and purchase your DNA test.
http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.aspx?code=S41251

I was told Victorian Degruise had twelve or thirteen children, but only one is listed on any site I have found. Does anyone have any more information about him?
