It does not look like there is a connection for us. I don't have much on my DeLucia's but I am pretty sure there were no known relatives in the Pittsburgh area. On the Fusco side, my Fusco never left Italy and lived in Maddaloni. I hope you find a connection, good luck.

I have the census record from 1920 that has Carmine born in 1885 and Maria born in 1885. They both came over from Naples and arrived in New York, New York, I have found Carmine's immigration papers from Ellis Island but not Maria's. They ended up in Oil City Pennsylvania where they stayed although Maria died in Pittsburgh. Thank you so much for your reply!

Do you have any idea approximately when they were born. Also, where did the family end up what state or city. I have two sets of DeLucia's one in the Bronx and the other in CT. I also have a Fusco, in Italy.

Hello Angelo,

I just saw your posting on Ancestry.com and was curious if you currently live in Santa Maria a Vico?

My great-grandfather came to America in 1907 from San Felice a Cancello. His last name was Picozzi. His mother was from Santa Maria a Vico and her last name was D'Addio. I had done alot of research on the Internet and tried to find pictures of both San Felice a Cancello and Santa Maria a Vico. I didn't find many pictures; however, I noticed that there were a couple of pictures taken of San Felice by someone named Walter De Lucia.

Michael

My great grandfather Pietro DeLucia had two sons by his first wife, Guiseppe and Antonio. His wife died and he married my great grandmother, Angela Petrino. They had 7 sons. Pietro died in Italy and Angela came over to the US and settled in Brooklyn. Guiseppe (Joseph) is buried at St. John's Cemetery in Queens, New York. (died March 1, 1930) I am trying to connect with anyone who might also be researching the DeLucia/DeLucie families and who might have information on Joseph, his brother Antonio or their father Pietro. Thanks.

William DeLong / Carmella Pagliano DeLong

My name is Darlene (DeLong) Swan and I am searching for any children who were born to William DeLong and Carmella Pagliano DeLong of Stamford, Connecticut. My father is the same William DeLong, so I am searching for any half siblings I may have. I was born in Stamford, Connecticut on March 17, 1953. My mother would not tell me how old I was when they broke up but I was about 1 yr. old., then my mother remarried and moved to Maine, then Mass, where she was from, so I never knew my father and he started a new life. I discovered on my father's death cert. that he was married to Carmella Pagliano DeLong at the time of his death in Jan, 1977. My father worked as a mechanic for Sears and was born on Feb. 20, 1911 in Crystal Falls, Mich. I don't know if Carmella was told about his first wife and me. My cousins on my dad's side had started a geneology search and located me, other cousins and DeLong family info and history dated back to about 1600! We are planning a reunion in upstate NY in August and some of us have never met! If anyone has any info about this, please email me at:
horses4315@aol.com or call: 781-632-0356.
Thank you.

My name is Darlene (DeLong) Swan. I was born on March 17, 1953 in Stamford, Connecticut. My parents divorced within about 1 year after my birth, so I never knew my father, and my mother remarried and moved to Maine. I don't know if there is any connection, but my father's second wife is Carmella Pagliano. I found this on my father's death cert. Her name was listed as his wife when he died in Jan, 1977. As far as I know, she is still alive and I believe lives in Wallingford, Conn. She has a brother who lives in Stamford named Leonard. I don't know if Carmella and my father had any children, as I am an only child and am searching for any half siblings that may have came from his marriage to Carmella. I don't know if my father ever told her of his first wife and about me. I live north of Boston. My cousins on my dad's side found me through this wonderful site! We have started a family geneology search and have found many cousins and family history info traced back to about 1600, and are planning a reunion in upstate NY in August...some of us haven't met yet. "San" means "Saint"; "Vito" refers to "Vitus", a fourth century Christian considered to be one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers, and the patron of epileptics, dancers and actors, as well as a protector against storms.

Wish I could be of more assistance!
No, there is no surname Sanvito in the town of San Vito di Cadore. There are other towns named SanVito in Italy. Translation is "Saint Vitus". It is fairly common in Italy for people to have as their surname the name of a town or city, but I do not know the significance of this. Does it mean an ancestor came from that town? Does anyone have this answer?

Re: De Lucia Family

You can write to:

Municipal Office
Santa Maria A Vico
Province of Caserta
Italy

for all civil records. You will need the name of the individual you are researching and the date of the event. ou should include a small amount of lira (cash) to cover the cost of handling and mailing the information to you.

Don't be surprised if at first the records cannot be found. I supplied the name and birthdate of my grandfather and was told three times ny the Municipal Office that he had not been born in Santa Maria A Vico on that date. It was only when we visited SMAV that we found his birth record.

Unfortunately DeLucia is a very common name in SMAV. It would be helpful if you also supplied the names of the mother and father of the individual you are researching.

Good luck.

I have a copy of my adoption papers and someone has written the name of Cynthia Louise DeLucia on it referring to the child. I believe this was my given name. I am part Italian and part Irish. if anyone has any information that might assist me please email me or pass my email address on to anyone that may.
