Yes, we are looking for the same DENIKE family. It was just brought to my attention by an Aunt that my great-grandfather's 2nd wife, Annie, had a sister named Frankie. It is believed to be Sarah Frances.

Contact directly at darlenekdonovan@earthlink.net if you like

Darlene
Elizabeth DENIKE b.1835 NY or NJ

I am trying to connect Elizabeth to her DENIKE family. I find her in 1850,Passaic, New Jersey, age 15,b.NJ, living with two people, their last name WHITE. There is a William DENIKE family in Passaic which could be hers. She named one of her sons William. All the family history/census's later say she was born in New York. But she married her husband Henry SEWELL in New Jersey, 1854. In a story written by one of her granddaughters it also refers to the last name TEN EYCK when referring to her last name. Anyone have Elizabeth in their tree?

Thanks,
Margaret

If the Denike you seek is either Isaac Denike Sr. of Peekskill New York or his son Isaac Denike jr. I have substantial information including Isacc Seniors Will. Senior was born about 1849 and died very old in 1842. He supposedly was a revolutionary war Vet and one of Lafayette's Guards. He and Junior attended Washington's inaugural as well.

I am in search of my husbands gr-gr-gr-grandfather and I am very confused. His grandmother was Grace Estelle Denike(1910-2003).

Her father was
Willett Denike b. Oct 1866 NY; m. (1) abt 1887 Elizabeth ___?___; m.

My husband is the gr-grandson of the oldest son in this family. Although the 1880 census index gives his name as William, he was actually another Willett Denike, of which there were many more than I expected. He married Elizabeth ? and after her death married Maria Sophia Imkenberg who was the widow of a Mr. Chartier. He had no children with Elizabeth, but raised the two Chartier children as well as 3 of his own with Maria.

Chad....which branch of this family is your ancestors-in-law?
Do you have information about their ancestors?
Hi! I suspect we are hunting related DENIKE families. My greatgrandfather's brother was John P DAY who married Sarah Frances DENIKE (1864-1940). I don't know her family beyond my Mom saying that there was a brother living on Lake Mohawk. His name may have been Samuel. None of John and "Frankie's" children lived beyond infancy. All are buried in North Hardyston Cemetery. Anything sound familiar?

I have a bit of Brooklyn DENIKE info. if anyone has need of it. Thomas DENIKE was brother to Mary J., who married William GRANGER, leader of The Brooklyn Brass Band. The Band was a formidable influence in 1840s Brooklyn, praised in writing by no less than Walt Whitman. William died unexpectedly of pneumonia in 1853 at age 36. In the 1880 census, Mary (Denike) Granger is shown living with her brother Thomas and his wife Sarah in Flushing, LI (Queens). At the time of William's death, Thomas & family were living at 333 Bridge Street. There is also a rather sizable DENIKE monument in Greenwood Cemetery with at least a generation of family buried there (section #82); not sure if this is the same line. On the needle-in-a-haystack chance that any Denike descendants are in posession of any artifact from The Brooklyn Brass Band (AKA Granger's Band, The Brooklyn Cornet Band), I would be most grateful for contact.

DeNike (b. 1850, Peekskill, NY) We've only found back to Samuel and Sarah E. (unknown). Have you been able to find any info about them? I do have some info about TenEyck which was supposedly the old spelling of DeNike.

Linda,

I took a look at the link you provided, Melissa Florence Dye, may have been related to Francis but pretty sure it isn't her since Francis started having children starting back abt 1845, I cam across some notes and it may be possible the name could be Dyr ? Not sure about that, the handwriting is old and very hard to read.

In my other post I mention I did find Francis at age 40? or 60? in 1880 living in Hastings-On-The-Hudson with John and Addie (adelaide)

Isaac married Mary Elizabeth Ackerson in 1880 at age 24, I have found them in a few of the censuses, 1880, 1920 and 1930, but still need the ones in between that have the children, and since those censuses are tougher It will take a bit of time. This is the main line that I am following.

I did find a William Ten Eyck in Syracuse in 1850 at age 30 but no idea if he is connected to this family or not.

Take heart, when I had to locate my Denikes in 1850 I had to go screen for screen. I think I would have given up if I hadn't been using a microfilm reader and was waiting for a download. I believe the two n's that the cencus taker favored were misread as an "M" and I don't remember what vowel they used. Can you use a wild card search?

Various spellings of Denike that I can come up with easily.
Denick
Dennick
Denik
Denike

My Dennick family appears NOT to be an off shoot of the Ten Eyck as I cann't find the Ten Eyck using the given name Valentine.

I am trying to find dates on my Aunt's Margaret and Catherine Denike (also spelled Denyke, Dennike, DeKnight, Teneyck). The only place I was able to find any information was on a census. The only thing I was able to find was a possible birth date for each. If anyone knows anything about them or has access to look up marriage and death records for Morris County between 1850 and 1860 and can check them for dates would be appreciated. I found their parents David and Sarah on the 1860 census and my Aunts weren't with them. The only census They were found on was the 1850 for Morris County.
Margaret born about 1836
Catherine born about 1840
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
GOD BLESS
Betty
bettymiller04901@yahoo.com

bettymiller04901@yahoo.com
Hi;

Sorry not to be able to help you, but I would be interested in
anything you have on the Dusenbury connection. Do you
have any names, dates, marriage information on Thomas and
Josephine? I'd be very grateful for whatever you can help with.

Adele

Could your Catherine Brooks have been related
to James Edgar Brooks? In 1883 he wed Hester
Gansevoort Ten Eyck,NY. He would certainly
predate her since your Denike wasn't born
until 1892.We do not know who his parents
were but he was born 1853,died shortly after
he was married.
