My Bill Depp race is white and I am not sure if he was from Kentucky or Chicago, he could have been from Louisville, KY as that is where my Moms family lived and where I was born

I really don't know where he was from all I know is that he and Mom were living in Chicago, my Mom never told me anything about him. I have however have a picture of him I found in my Moms things when she passed away. It is of him and his sister.

I do have a William Doepp from Chicago in my family tree, but he doesn't seem to match the time period. You might try searching city directories for Chicago for the appropriate time period. Hope you find him. David

Hope you can find one, I have never met my
father, I guess my mom & him weren't on good
terms, all I have is his name on my birth
certificate, and that he worked at as dry
cleaner. This was in 1939-40 as I was born

There is a Doepp family from Chicago (pronounced the same was as "Depp"). A number of the family members dropped the "o". It's a long shot, but there could be some connection. I will check my database at home to see of there are any "Bills."

Hi, Dee. I'm sorry I haven't gotten back with you before now. I've just had to endure my own family crisis and I am only just now getting my life back to normal.

Now, I'm still not clear where your father was from. You say in one message that he was from Illinois and in another message you say he's from Kentucky -- Louisville (Jefferson County). I can't help you with Illinois Depps, but I have loads of stuff on Kentucky Depps. Here are some Jefferson County Depps I've run across in Federal Census records, as well as birth and death records. The mothers listed below are listed under their maiden names as they appear on the birth certificates. Maybe you'll find an aunt or cousin or grandparent among them. See if your aunt recognizes any of these names:

The Depp roots are really deep in Kentucky -- mainly in Barren County. These few Depps were found in Jefferson County.

Patricia, don't know where my father was born
could very will be he was born in Kentucky,
as that is where I was born in Louisville, KY. The only thing I know about him, was
what was on my birth certificate I have a
picture of him, a tall thin white man. My
mother passed away not telling me a thing
about him or his family. I was named after
a lady that lived in Louisville, Delia Cox,

Hi, Dee. So, your father's name is Bill Depp? You were born in 1940, so that means he was probably born around 1920-22. Was he from Chicago or Kentucky? If he is from Kentucky, you're in luck. The Depp roots in Kentucky are very deep and easy to trace.

Most Kentucky Depps are descendants of Peter Depp (1735-1807), the great farmer/ plantation owner in Barren County, KY.

Your name is Delia. Oddly enough, there was a Dela Wara Depp who died in Jefferson County (Louisville), KY on 30 Aug 1917.

Tell me where your father was from and his race and I'll let you know what I have.

I have never met my father, but on my birth
certificate it has the name of Bill Dep, I
was born Dellia Marie Dep (in Louisville,
Kentucky) to a Marie Watkins Sept 5, 1940.
She lived in Chicago, Ill at the time and
my birth certificate say Bill worked as a
dry cleaner. Mom went to Kentucky to have me
for reasons she took to the grave with her,
but all of her family lived in Kentucky, so
I stayed with my Aunt in Louisville while
Mom went back to Chicago to work. Any infor-
mation would be greatly appreciated. Don't
know if they where even married, she would
never discuss the matter with me.
