The list below is a copy of a Derby message board post from 2001 on Ancestry.com. This is where I got started and had no other info. At that time there were lots of other distant cousins posting and all seemed to dissapear at the same time. The only person I am in contact with at this time is a Sharon Gordon (my 4th cousin).She descends from William Seward Derby. I originally found her on the message boards at that time as well and she has sent me a copy of a 30 page document (unpublished) given to her threw family. First written April 17, 1938 by an Opal Derby and the written was typed and brought up to date in 1965 a Laverna Derby Greer. It contains a 'Derby family tree' for the first part starting with the union of this James and Cloa. The second part contains 'The Rhodes branch of family tree' starting with the union of Nathaniel Rhoads and Anna Brown, the parents of Eleanor Jane Rhodes.
