Thanks for the information Chris. Paul and Anna are my Great Grandparents. I was hoping to get in contact with someone who is a descendant of Frederick or Flavie. Anna Lavoie is actually the daughter of Octave and Lea Chasse. Genereux and Elenore are actually Annna's Uncle and Aunt. I've traced Frederick and Flavie's children through 1930 however have yet to find them in the 1940 Census.

ISO of Descendants of Pierre Desjardins and Julie Levesque (Madawaska, ME)

Like many of the Desjardins in the USA today I am a descendant of Antoine Roy & Marie Major. Our families lineage starts with their son....
Pierre Roy dit Desjardins & Marie-Anne Martin
Jean-Baptiste Roy dit Desjardins & Marie-Madeleine Michaud
Jean Baptiste Roy-Desjardins & Marie Geneviève Côté
Jean-Baptiste Roy-Desjardins & Marie-Louise Dionne
Amable Desjardins & Marie-Geneviève Ouellette
Pierre Desjardins & Julie Levesque

Pierre and Julie had 9 Children
Genevieve
Flavie
Frederick
Paul
Louis
Felix
Alexis
Annie
Marie

My family is descendant of Paul Desjardins who married Anna Lavois in Abt. 1911 in Grand Isle, Aroostook, Maine, USA.

I am looking to see if I can get in touch with any of Pierre and Julie's other descendants. I was interested in compiling something that included all of their descendants as well as meeting more of my extended family. I know between the descendants of Paul and that of Louis there variations in our surname such as Desjardins, Desjardin and DesJardin. Some other surnames included in Pierre and Julie's descendants are Fournier, St. Pierre, St. Onge. Martin, Miron, Cyr, Sirois, Ouellette, Chasse, Pelletier, Rabtoy, Boucher, Madore and Daigle just to name a few.... I look forward to hearing from anyone that can contribute to my research. I also welcome anyone else who can provide me with more insight on any other of Antoine Roy's descendants I would love to begin building a more complete family tree :-)

I can be contacted by e-amil as well Rosca61@gmail.com

Hi Denna

It's great to hear from someone on here. I have some what alot of information. But some seems to be confusing, I have a buriel record for Joseph Desjardins the husband of Suzanne Germain in 1832, but some people have info that Joseph was in Drummond Island. I don't beleive they are the same Joseph. I was wondering if you had a opinion on that matter. But I hope we can keep in touch and trade info.
My DesJardins ancestors came from Quebec in 1883 and settled in Garden Delta Co., Mi. They were:
Francois/Alfred/Fred b.1854 Montreal, CA/d.1943 Manistique, MI
Mary b.1858 Quebec, CA, d.1915 Nahma, Delta, MI (m. serois.divorced)
John b.abt. 1860 Quebec, d.? Alfred Chandanais d.1945 Garden, MI
Claudia b. 1874 St. Pacome, Qu, CA m. James Chandanais d. 1963 Clair, MI
Emil Xavier b. 1883 Grand Falls, NB, CA died 1953 Cooks, Schoolcraft, MI
Emil kept the American form of Gardner as his name, as did his descendants.

Children of Francois/Alfred: Rene and Mary both moved to Green Bay, WI. For a time they used Gardner (wanting to fit in) but after a few years, went back to DesJardins. Since Green Bay is only about 60 miles from Marinette/Menominee, thought this might fit your question.
Could you tell me about your Marinette/Menominee family?
Mary

Hi there,

I'm interested in the Pierre Desjardins and Caroline Filion line who married 3rd Nov 1857 in St-Eugene, Ontario. His parents were Pierre Desjardins and Marguerite Labelle. Specifically, Pierre and Caroline's daughter, Emma, is my gggrand-mother. She would have been born in 1877; married to Charles Menard in 1894. I can't find her birth certificate/record. I'm looking to confirm her native ancestry. Anyone with info, please contact me at leblanc-j@hotmail.com

Re: Louis Desjardins - California

My grandfather, father of my father Richard Louis Desjardin, was Louis Leo Desjardin (b. 14 Aug 1904, d. 29 Apr 1995), son of Charles and Emma Boudreau Desjardins, husband of Marie Delia Aline Roy (my grandmoher) and later a 2nd wife.

The only difference from your query is that I recall from my dad that he had lived in the states of RI, MA and NY, but there is little information out there and I actually don't have his obituary with me (I am just starting to gather info on my dad's side which is difficult since a lot of family records/pictures were disposed of according to him).
Yes, Martin Desjardins is the son of Martin Desjardins & Charlotte Therrien; his baptism is in the records of St. Anne's parish on Grand Calumet Island, Pontiac County. I'm still looking for Martin's marriage to Charlotte. I do know that Martin Sr. was born in 1800. I have his lineage to the first in Canada, Claude Desjardins.
Ken Desjardins

Fred B. Desjardins, Rockland and Augusta, Maine

I don't have any connection to this family but found this while doing other research. I am posting hundreds of these “blurbs” because I believe it helps to see our ancestors as people rather than just names and dates and, in some cases, it helps to place where our ancestors were during a certain period of time.

This entry is from the Rockland, Maine Courier-Gazette of November 22, 1892 in a story labeled "Good Choice: A Gentleman Well Known in Rockland Receives an Appointment."

"It is understood that the Maine Commission on the Columbian Exposition has selected Fred B. Desjardins, at one itime head waiter at the Thorndike, this city, and now serving in a similar capacity at the Augusta House, as janitor of the Maine building at Chicago, while the janitress will be a lady from Waterville. At first thought it might seen as though any janitor could fill the bill and that any level-headed woman could perform the duties of janitress, but not so.

It is required of both janitor and janitress that they speak English, French and German; that they have been familiar with people in the higher walks of life; that they have a good knowledge of Maine and a fair acquaintance with the leading citizens of the state. It isn't everybody who can fill one of these bills. Mr. Desjardins has that polite French manner that never grows weary in well doing and is always at his post. The lady mentioned called on the commission recently and they seemed much pleased with her appearance and evident capability, she proving to be a linguist of high order, and well educated."

I believe they are talking about the Exposition in Chicago in this article.

I have a Martin Desjardins (m. Esther French). The record I have gives his parents as "Martin Dejordon" and "Mary Fereah" (from BMS2000). I wonder if this Martin Sr. could be the same one who was married to Charlotte Therrien (and if the record could actually be a very inaccurate spelling/translation of Marie Therrien)? I can find no other trace of Martin Sr. that seems to match, not anyone with the surname "Fereah". Any info you have would be appreciated!

Once you find Deline's maiden name you could then use the Loiselle Index to find Xavier's and Deline's parents assuming they were married Catholic and depending on where they were married.
If you don't know where they are buried (if they were in Ontario) look for the Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid (OCFA). This may lead you to some clues especially finding a date of death to locate an obituary.

I am looking for information regarding my great great grandparents Exavier and Deline Desjardins both born in Quebec and moved to Ontario (Lambton). I have been unable to find Deline's maiden name as well as the names of Exavier and Deline's parents. Their children are Marceline, Silas, Edward, Janet, Rosie, Malvine. Any information would be a great help!

Marie(Sophie) Bottineau who married Jean Trudeau are relatives I've been researching. Any information you might like to share would be welcomed.

thanks,
Heather

Here's what I have found while researching my great-grandmother Mildred Desjardins:
Martin & Esther were from Bryson, Pontiac County, Quebec. Besides your grandmother Jessie, they also had a son Hugh Alexander, who also settled in Pontiac County. He was my great-great-grandfather.
If you want to know more, please let me know. Also, can you tell me anything about your grandmother's relatives on Lake Huron?

Hi, thanks for getting in touch with me. I am researching the Roy dit DesJardins family and am especially interested in that part of the family which settled in Minnesota after leaving Canada. Oscar Roy was born at Father's Point, Canada and I would like to know where it is located. Thanks, Lynn
