Hi,

I just wanted to say that I think we have the same ancestry in regard to the Desroche-Monty line. My great-grandfather was a son of Octave and Mary. I only have guesses as to who their parents might have been. Have you had any luck with this?

Bonjour.Je suis la petite-fille de Cleophas Durocher et Georgina Leblanc. Mon pere, Marcel etait bijoutier, et le troisieme enfant du couple. Il epousait ma mere, Eileen Saunders, le 21 avril 1942, a l'eglise St. Willibrod, a Verdun. Il est decede a Montreal le 13 mai, 1983. Ma mere, Eileen, est decedee a Montreal, le 6 fevrier, 2006. Le couple Marcel et Eileen, sont les parents de trois filles, Diane, Suzanne, et Joanne.

I believe I am a descendant of Edouard Nadreau and his son Camille, I am having trouble getting his parents name but was told by my grandmother that they had changed their name from Natal to Nadreau. Don't know if this helps or if you are running into the same problem I am running into.

some quick digging I found on pei baptism idex there was at least 3 more children Firmain born feb 13 1885 ,Jerome born April 15 1880 and Joseph born june 12 1877 on the 1901 census for Firmain it say that he is Adopted by Fransit Martin still got some digging to do I hope this helps out some

The microfilmed records of Sts. Simon and Jude parish in Tignish show a baptism for a Mary Ann Desroches on 15 Feb 1882, born 29 January last, parents were Julian Desroches and Veronica Martin. Sponsors were Joseph Desroches and Margaret Migny.

This is my grandmother. I was seeking more information on her. This is my mother's mother. I was more interested in knowing her side of the family. And if anyone knew of her having a daughter in USA...which would be my mom. Rumor has it that Joseph B. Deveau of Hectanooga is not mom's real father. So thats why I am seeking Mary's side of the family to see if they have any old photo's of her (besides the ones I already have of her and Joseph) or if they knew of any other information on her.

i am also looking for a desroches with a possible native indian tie ..i get to dorius j desroches my great uncle born july 21 1932 and there is a dead end unfortunatly.... i believe his parents names were rosalia desroches and his father was also dorius considering we call my uncle "JR." i know they lived in granby massachusetts but i am stuck i cant get any further any help would be great....

Another thing you can try is go to The Island Register web site ( http://www.islandregister.com/index.html ). In the frame on the left side of the page there is a search box. If you search Desroches, you will find a few articles that delve into the family lines. Good luck! (There is no need to be a member or subscribe to the Island Register. Very nice.)

I find no references to any MacRae/McRae or to any "Annie". I did try to make sure that I took note of any marriage that had a bride with the surname Desroches.

Hope one of these might be your Annie.

Searching Desroches ancestors

I'm helping a friend research his family and I have hit a roadblock.

I have Marie Cordelie Desroches marrying Oliver Papineau on Apr 26, 1892 and having the following children for which I have found Birth/Baptismal records.

Joseph Olivier dob 16 Mar 1893 in St-Ignace-de-Stanbridge
Joseph Ernest dob 1895
Joseph Laurent dob 1897
Marie Lea Rose Emma dob 1900
Emilia dob 1902
Joseph Hector Narcisse dob 1903

Marie Cordelie's marriage record shows that her parents's names were Joseph Desroches and Victoria Piladeau ( though I have seen her name listed elsewhere as Peladeau and Paladeau. The problem arises when I searched for the birth records for Joseph and Victoria's children. I found the following children born to them in Farnham (St-Romuald)

Marie Victorine born 1862
Marie Celine born 1864
Joseph Xiste born 1868
Joseph Pierre Henri born 1876

Nowhere do I find Marie Cordelie.. I am wondering if Marie Celine is actually Marie Cordelie. It would make her about the correct age. If anyone has an answer, I'd appreciate it if you let me know.

Also.. any birth records for Victoria Piladeau or marriage records would be appreciated.. and any proof of her parents names. I have a tentative guess that her father is Amable Piladeau.. and mother Marguerite Abraham, but have no proof.

My father passed away in 1984 is name was Charles Antonio Desroches my mother passed away in 2005 and her name was Germaine Dumas Desroches I have a brother in Granby by the name of Bernard Desroches he is a public accountant and very well known in town. Remember my father's mothe was also in Granby and her name was Alphosine Chaput Desroches she died in 1958 at the age of 100. Maybe this will help. I left Granby in 1955 and Married an American my name was Claire Cecile Desroches and was also born in Granby. Good luck.

I dont know any of the people youve mentioned but i am looking into my history,my grnad fathers name was jean guy desroches, he passed away two years ago at 75, i dont know exactly were he was born but i know he lived in granby for a long time my mom and her brothers were all born there and i was born in cowansville hoepfully this helps a little.

Thanks for posting the 'Eight Founding Families'. My grandfather was Joseph Robert MacRae (he changed the spelling to McRae when he moved to the States)b. 1923 d. 2006. While he lived his latter decades in the US, he is buried in Tignish. His parents were James MacRae and Annie DesRoches. I could not find them in the 'Eight Founding Families' - although, I suspect there has to be linkage given the MacRae's and DesRoches's in there. Do you have any information on them?

Apparently one of my GGGGgrandfather's was Xavier Desroches son of Francois Xavier Desroches and Therese Menard (1837), and he was the son of Francois Xavier Desroches and Marie Casabon. My father was Charles antonio Desroches married to Germaine Dumas my grandmother on my father's side was Alphosine Chaput they live in Granby as far as I know I was born in Granby also. My father had 3 sister never marrien Elphigina, Marquerite and Irene. My grandmother passed away in 1958.Since my parents never talked of their past I have little to go on. Alpha's parents were Arthur DesRoches and Estelle Belcourt who were married on Oct 11, 1921 at Ste-Patrick Roman Catholic church in Perkinsfield, Ontario, Canada. Alpha was one of approximately 7 children born to the couple according to the information I have gathered.

Going back another generation, Arthur is the son of Telesphore DesRoches and Jeanne (Jane) Lacourse who were married on June 25th, 1893 (unknown location).

Gordon Dupuis' parents were Leon Dupius and Lizza Quesnelle. Unfortunately, that is the full extent of the information that I have on them.

Cléophas était le frère de mon arrière-grand-père Pancrace Durocher. J'ai une photo de famille qui date de 1903 avec tous les membres de la famille. J'ai trouvé un recensement de 1901, il y est mentionné que Cléophas était horloger à cette époque. Je t'envoie le résultat de mes recherches:

I am searching for any info on my grandfather.Eric A DesRoches. Born born June 24 1900 in Penetanguisine. I belive he died in Midland, Ontario. He was married once, to unknown person and had some children from this marriage. He had two more children with 2nd wife, Lynn and Brian. Any info would be helpful.
