I just received news that my grandfather Peter H. Devlin was born 1866, June 17th in Shettleston, County of Lanark, Scotland--the son of Henry Devlin(coal miner) Bridget McCabe. My ggrandparents were married 1862, Aug. 11th in Shettleston, Scotland. According to the 1881 Census----
Henry Devlin--Head, 44, coal miner,Ayrsh, New Cumnock
Bridget--Wife, 42,-------,Ireland
Catherine--daughter, unmarried, 16, wool weaver, Lanarksh Shettleston(all children born here)
Peter--son, 14, coal miner
Mary--daughter, 12, scholar(still in school)
Jean--daughter, 10, scholar
William--son, 8, scholar
Henry--son, 2
John--son, 10 months
