I am a great grandson of Phillip Dial, born abt. 1837, son of George Dial Jr. Believe he is closely related to Phillip C. Dial. Your Phillip may be descended from George W. Dial, SR, died about 1841. All are buried in Fayette County, IL. I' ve had trouble finding any decent support for George W. Dial, Sr.'s ancestors, which seem to be poorly documented. I travel to Fayette County about once a year and visit the old cemeteries. I am not a regular member of Ancestry, although I've thought about it off and on. Let me know if I can be of any help. My email address is jjdial4@aol.com

John

Dial/Paul family name

So long story short, my grandfather, who was originally from Lumberton NC passed away 5 years ago and during the cleaning up of his house I found an old ledger. It's been sitting on my book shelves and I finally decided to take a look at it. Whoever was the original owner, I'm guessing my GGGG-+1 or 2 grandfather, was named H.Q. Paul or Dial.
My grandfather's name was James Edwin Paul. His mother was Lizzie G. Paul and father was Edwin R. Paul. Both his mother and father is currently laid to rest in the LOWRY/LOWERY FAMILY CEMETERY located on Oak Grove Church Road, across from Solomn Road, Pembroke, NC.
There are entries of the customers that H.Q. Paul/Dial sold his goods to, as are there entries of various people's birth, death and some wedding dates. There are many of the common surnames from the Robeson county for that era, Oxedine, Lowry/ery/rie, Cummings, etc.
Two things I want to know: 1. What is my line leading back to H.Q. Paul/Dial and is there any family of mine out there? 2. What's with the Paul/Dial last names? Was it changed and why?

If anyone has information for me it would be greatly appreciated!
