Tina

Not sure whether you can help I am tracking a Stephen Dickens (or could be Dickins) who came to Australia around 1850 - not sure whether he was English or came from the US. Possibly born around 1830.

Sue

John Thomas Dickens

I am trying to trace records of my Grandfather J T Dickens. From certs it shows him to have been born from 1897-1900. He served 21 years in the army, as a private in the south staffs regiment, and then as a corporal in the Pioneer Corps.
His fathers name is registered as Alfred Dickens, who was classed as deceased, and a well sinker by the time JT married my grandma in 1939.
JT was living in Chesterfield Derbyshire at the time of his marriage, but there is much talk that he was a native of Birmingham, and moved here with his best friend Richard Walker, after he left service.
If anyone can offer me any information on either John Thomas or Alfred i would be very grateful, as i cannot trace JT birth i have hit a brick wall.
Thankyou in advance..... sharon

Martha would be my Dads greatgrandmother and he is still around, he is 83, and I will ask him again if he knows much about her or if he knew her when she was alive but I don't think he did. His grandma, Hettie Bruce, left/divorced his Grandpa, Thomas Howard Damron when my grandama was little,..her name was Byrdie Nevaline Damron and she is Hettie's daughter ..She married Corbett Franklin Dickens...The Dickens and the Damron family was very very inner-twined.........Thanks Linda Dickens Dube.

I would love to see a picture of my great-grand mother Permelia Graham Dickens. My dad remembers some things, but not alot about her. Uncle Bill, he remembers quite well.

Stan,

Elizabeth Holt and Joseph Dickens are relatives of my husband. Their Daughter, Roseanna Rose Dickens b 17 Jan 1852; d 1916 Wickliffe, Ballard Co, Ky.. She WEd Mr. Richard Barr in 1872, but also wed my husband's relative Abraham Watson in 1884 in Kentucky . Their daughter, Elsie Rose Watson was born 1896, Ballard county, Ky. and wed Ed Burk Ryon in 1914 in Ballard County, Ky.

Can you tell me of any proof that Elizabeth Holt was Cherokee Indian. Elsie Rose Watson's brother had features that appear to be Indian and family lore was that there was
Indian heritage in the family history. And I have heard that it may be on both the Watson and Holt side.

I would be SO grateful for any information you might have about the Cherokee heritage or source and about Parents of Joseph Dickens and Elizabeth HOlt.--as far back as possible

Thanks
Sharon

Two of Charles DICKENS' sons lived in Australia so there could be a connection.

You should work backwards from your immediate family and any connection should be traceable. If it doesn't exist, you will have the satisfaction of building your family tree.

I can help you. Send an e-mail to me at khdickins@aapt.net.au and we can start by my sending you my tree of Charles DICKENS' family.

Ken Dickins

Hi, I am in Australia and also find myself looking for my connection to Charles Dickens. My mothers maiden name was Leigh but her mothers maiden name was Dickens. I have traced as far back as Hilda Dickens and find it frustrating because you need actual dates and places and relatives names. I have to rely on my Mum in South Africa to send me small details that she can remember. We have a signed book of his and a brooch with his profile on it. Maybe I should start from Charles and work down?
