Yes, it looks like we are cousins. I am descended from Sarah's son Reed Dodd. Elijah Dickerson was born 1755 and died 1834. He was married to Susannah Smith born 1746. Elijah was the son of Griffith Dickerson and Ann Cosby. Susannah Smith was the daughter of Thomas Ballard Smith and Anne Meriwether. We have a cousin who has done extensive research on this line. She is also a descendant of Sarah's son Ennis. This cousin has some of Susannah's ancestors as far back as 1490. Some of Elijah's are as far back as 1600's. Yes it is amazing how far back you find relatives. Which of Sarah's 7 children are you descended from? You can email me directly at koala1701genealogy@cox.net Rebecca

I think that my line is from Nathaniel Jr., son, William.
I have that William was born about 1725 and died in Louisa County in 1764 and was married to a Sarah.
I try to find sources to support my information--I like to have my facts correct. I make errors and I do try to correct them.
Zachariah went to Georgia after the Rev. War. There was a land lottery and many Revolutionary soldiers were drawn to Georgia for the land.
Thanks!

Thank you very, very much for posting your research!!

I have been looking for years and recently found a possible link from our Georgia Dickersons to Virginia Dickensons. Your information backs up what I just got, so my Dickerson line is falling into place. Wouldn't it be nice if we got paid for the time we spend searching our roots?
I am going to compile my information with yours and I feel good about this being the link from Zachariah to Nathaniel Dickenson, Jr.
Your the first connection with the DNA, never knew anyone in
Georgia. This is what I wanted in the other brothers and sisters in the old lines. Another Cousin. I am going with age
so I am glad that others can carry on the connection with
others and their DNA. Don't let it haunt you with a bloodline
different that your surname. A Lot this happened before the King of England made the people register their sir name and
christian name for the tax records in England. Many of their
surname were made up from their occupation. The Dickerson'
and its other Spellings came from Dyke builders. John in Ks

I am related to the Dickerson line you cite and am very interested in the pictures you mentioned. Hiram Dickerson, b: 1793 in Pendleton District, SC was my g-g-gf. He was married to Rebekah McDonald, b: c1800 in SC. Rebekah's mother was Mary (nee: unknown) McDonald. Hiram and Rebekah were the parents of Mary Elizabeth (Dickerson) Saye. I descend from their son, John Harrison Dickerson, who was a brother of Mary Elizabeth.

Would you please contact me at pollyp@windstream.net?
Thanks.
To make a long story short, In have a box of tin types that where my great grandmothers. I the box where pictures of Robert Saye and his wife Mary Elizabeth Dickerson. One of the pictures with them is an older couple that I think may be Hiram D. Dickerson born 1793 either South Carolina or Kentucky and his wife Mary McDonald born 1800-1805 South Carolina, but I am not sure. If anyone is related to them and might be able to help, I would appreciate it.

I'm a Dickerson , but we are African American. I was born in New Orleans, raised in Kentwood La. on my Great Grandmothers farm. I know we have whites in our family, also heard that my great great great grandmother may have been a( Placees'.) To the white Dickerson's (great great great grandfather)they had 14teen son. His white family was in Mississppi about 30 minutes away. the family that lived next door, they were also Dickerson. I remember when I was about 7or 8 little blue eye blonde boy and his sister ran to the fence of our farm said what's you name I said Shemekia Dickerson. He said his name is Christopher Dickerson , I said thats my brothers name . We looked at each for a few minutes he said that his dad said we are cousins. Never met them in my life didnt even know they were there, but from that day we played together until they moved to Texas never heard from them again. Lets just say its rare for me to meet Dickerson's that I'm not related to. Hope this helps.

My grandmother was an Eavenson and Hannah is also in my tree on my father's side.
I was able to get my uncle to let me use his DNA for testing, so we have DNA results also.
My tree is: Dickerson-Gaddy tree revised
Teresa Dickerson Bruton, 2nd ggranddaughter of SJ Dickerson through Robert Martin Dickerson

The age gap here is pretty far, but still possible. Does anyone have any information on any of these persons mentioned or the possible marriage between a William Penn Brown and a Jane Dickerson?

The other brother was Pollard Brown[b. 1763, Culpeper Co., VA.].
All of my ancestors came from Rock-Wall Tx. and a lot of the family there were buried at Fate Tx. in Zion Cemetery just a
few miles from Rockwall. Grandmother was buried in the old
cemetery in Rockwell. Your name doesn't show up in my family
tree, The only way you could tie him up with my family is get
a YDNA test and if he come up with a Lawson Blood then he is of our group. One of my grandmothers back in 1793 had a child
by Joshua Lawson but she raised him up at home as a Dickerson
and his descendents carried the Lawson blood signature.
John in Ks
