I AM THE COUSIN OF TIM, AND I KNOW THAT THE DIDYMUS CLAN OF WICKHAM AND SHEDFIELD ARE APPARENTLY NOT CONNECTED, I FEEL THAT SOMEWERE DOWN THE LINE THEY MUST BE, WITH SUCH AN UNUSUAL NAME AND BECAUSE THE NAME HAS SURVIVED BEFORE THE TIME OF CHRIST I BELIEVE THAT WE MUST BE ONE OF THE OLDEST NAMES AROUND - ANY THOUGHTS?
REGARDS
TERRY

Welcome to DIDYMUS Message Board.....

Thanks for looking in. My name is Alison Hargreaves, and I'm the Board Administrator. I live in Swindon, Wiltshire, England, and am also researching the DIDYMUS surname. My mother's maiden name was DIDYMUS....... I'm looking for any references - worldwide - and at the moment I think that this could be the only message board for the surname.

So come on all you DIDYMUS's - lets have some messages, and try and link up all the DIDYMUS's out there.

Hope to meet you soon..... Cheers!! Alison x

Hi Tim - would like to get in touch with you, via email, to see if we can forge a link between the Wickham and Sarisbury Didymus families!

I feel that with such an unusual surname, and with the villages being so close, that there is one there somewhere, and have lots of info to share!

Please contact me on hargy@tesco.net

I look forward to hearing from you!

Cheers........
Hi Alison,

Most of the Didymus clan seen to emanate from the Wickham
area of Hampshire. Records confirm this, taking us back to around 1750's. In fact to this day many Didymuses live in and around the villages of Wickham Parish.
I'd suggest this would be a good place to start tracing your mothers family line.

The Didymus name can also be found in Pennsylvania, New York, Derbyshire, Devon, Dorset, Essex, Herts, Middx, Somerset, West Midlands, Sussex, Wilts & Morbihan [France]

all the very best,

Tim Didymus.
