Dile, Dial, Dyal, Dyall, Deal

My Great Grandmother Mary R. Dial was born in Macoupin County, Illinois 17 December 1865. I just received her marriage return that lists her father as Ashford Dial & mother as Susan Arnold. Mary married Samuel Dove, in Christian County, Assumption, Illinois on 23 Nov 1881, she is age 16 on the liscense age 17 on the return. Which should make her present in 1870 census. I know due to the obits of Ashford W. Dial that he was not her father so that only leaves the Ashford that married a Mrs. Susan Sharp on 29 Nov, 1862 in Macoupin County, Illinois. I believe that this was a second marriage for Ashford & for sure Susan. Does anyone have any additional information on this line of Dial's? I found two Ashford's for in the 1870 census but Mary nor Susan is present, have hit a road block appreciate suggestions or information. I also haven't been able to locate a birth registration for her. My birth information came from other relatives.

Am willing to share the obits via email for anyone interested in them FREE. I have the ones for Ashford W. Dial his second wife Mary J. Ward Lamont Dial, Ashford W.'s daughter Jennie Dial Curtiss, Jennie's husband Frank, and a notice for Thomas Dial. Also have photos of some headstones. email me at bcwk141621@aol.com put surname in subject so I don't delete by mistake.

Thanks

Dile Family Tree

Hi,

My name is Jason Harmon. Myself and a few others have also been tracing our Dile heritage. My grandmother is Emma Dile McGaha. Emma was born in 1921 in Green Co., KY. As an infant her parents moved across the county line to Adair Co., KY. Her parents were Tom Dile 1879-1951 and Alta Richards 1888-1950. Tom Dile was born in Metcalfe Co., KY. Tom was the son of Jeff Dile and Polly Ann Wooten. I have the Wooten name back much further, but I am stuck at Jeff Dile. My grandma's siblings are Bertie Burton, Major Dile, Ruby Curry, Estel Dile, Bill Dile, and Marie Montgomery. Some of Tom Dile's brothers were Jake, Jeffie, and Wint Dile. Another thing that was common in my Dile roots is that all of my grandma's siblings suffered/died of Tuberculosis. Does any of this sound familiar. Any of you may e-mail me at home. Jason Harmon UNDY@prodigy.net

It shows him residing in New Cumberland and was recruited in Perry co.

Interestingly, Samuel's card shows his residence as Alleghany Co. that could explain why after his wounding one furlough shows him returning to Allegheny City.

Thanks so much for the reply to my email. Abraham Dile is a mystery to me. I think there may have been more than one from Perry Co. He is my husband’s great grandfather, but he raised my husband’s father, L. Murphy. That is how a Murphy entered this family. I have been searching the census pages of Perry County for information about the Dile family. It seems as though a Mary Baker was married to Abraham. That her name was Mary E., we are sure. They had children Alice, my husband’s grandmother who encountered the Murphy, Louis, Emma, Mary A, Laura Dile. Abraham was a Civil War veteran. We have a picture of him in his Civil War uniform. He was in the PA Infantry, the 208th Unit, Company I. He joined in June of 1963 and was mustered out in May of 1964. One place said he was a Sergeant and one said he was a Private. She collected a pension which said he was an invalid. The picture is about 7 X 8. Abraham and Mary and several children and another adult are standing in front of the cabin. On the back it was written that the house was in Perry County near the German town. Alice wrote that it is where she was born, but I can’t find any record of her in any family records. I would be glad to share the pic with you but, I am wondering if we are talking about the same Abraham Dile. I found an Abraham Dile living in Perry County, Spring Twp. at the same time who was living with a Catherine Dile, who was probably his mother. That was 1860. In 1880 he was married to an Elizabeth M, which could have been Mary E. but the children have names that I don’t recognize. I have more research to do, that is for sure. Does any of this make any sense to you? Thanks for you help. Sincerely, E. Murphy
Emma,
Abraham Dile I think was a brother to John Dile, Samuel's father. Germantown was an area outside of Landisburg, PA along a back road. I was up there once a few years back. I think I have a copy of a deed from Perry County which is signed by Abraham but I will have to check to make absolutely sure. I would be very interested in a copy of the "Log Cabin" picture and anything else concerning the Diles. I will inturn send you a copy of the deed and anything else I can find. Samuel's father was John Dile and his mother was Elizabeth Clouser. Samuel's brother was William and both of them served in A company of the 101st PA. Let me know if I can help you any further. We are planning sort of a dile reunion and memorial service for Samuel at his grave in New bloomfield, Pa to be held Memorial day 2004.
Karl

I am searching for information about Abraham Dile who lived in Perry County, PA. On a picture we have of the family log cabin it said the cabin was near a "German town"??? He was in the 208th PA Infantry, Company I during the Civil War and enlisted from Perry County. He was born during the 1850's but I don't know if his birth was in PA. He was married to a Mary and I think her maiden name was Baker. She too was born during the 1850"s. I wonder if he could have been a brother of Samuel Dile from Perry County. Does any one have any info on this subject?

I have been looking for information on Nellie Dile for quite some time. She was born Aug. 11, 1887, and died 1969. She was married to Henry Scofield, who was born in NY on April 7, 1884, and died Dec. 4, 1947. They were both buried in Sherman, NY. At some point, they must have gone to Arthur, ND, because their son, Herbert, was born there in 1905.

Again, any information will be apprecitated. Thanks!
