Aaron Dilley is my 6th Great Grandfather on my dad's side. I have been able to trace back several generations past Aaron. I am looking for any family history, stories, photographs that anyone would like to share. I know very little about my father's side of the family and would love to learn more. Thank you in advance for any information. I can be reached at skkalisz@yahoo.com. I look forward to hearing from anyone with family history that they would like to share.

I have a copy, very difficult to read, of a page from the estate information of Joseph Dilley, June 10 1833. the names listed in various capacities are Sarah Dilley, Robinson Rose, Abraham Dilley. It speaks of bonds, and bona filea and property set off to widow. Valentine J Dilley is also mentioned.

Is Ernest William dilley born 1898 in the tree? He was killed on the first day of the battle of the Somme and had a link with harlton in Cambridgeshire although was not living there at the time. I am trying to establish if the cottage called Dilleys in the village was ever his home.

Good Morning,

I've received information that has really confused me. I'm hoping you can straighten me out. The information that I received was that John G. Dilley son of Joseph and Sarah Mc Coy had an 1/2 sister. I only know of Joseph being married once. They also stated that Henry Dilley born in 1817 in Lawrence Co., Oh was an uncle of John G. Dilley 1/2 sister.

Now they gave two different Henry Dilleys, one born in 1827 married to Minerva and son of Barnett Dilley and Minerva Cooper. The second Henry Dilley was born in 1817 in Lawrence Co., Oh and the son of John Dilley and Elizabeth Ackland. That would make the 1/2 sister o John G. Dilley the G. Granddaughter of of John Dilley and Catharine Himpin.

Now I have the children for Barnett and Minerva (Cooper) Dilley listed as William born 1833 John born 1834 Margaret born 1836 Harvey born 1838 Delilah born 1841 Willis born 1843 Rebecca born 1847 and Sarah born 1854.

For the siblings for John G. Dilley born 13 Sept 1808 in Parkersburg, Wood Co., Va. I have Jane born @ 1803 in Va. Eliza born @ 1805 in Belpre, (do you have any information on her?) Cornelius born in 1812 in Belpre Sarah A. born @ 1812 in Belpre
Julia A. born in 1814 in Belpre William M. born in 1823 in Belpre and Joseph Samuel born in 1828 in Belpre.

Then there is also listed Joseph Dilley who was married to Sarah Mc Coy as being the son of George Dille and Abigail Hand. Then there is a Joseph Dilley born in 1828 the son of Barnett Dilley and Mineve Cooper who married Mary Rose.
Then there is also listed a Joseph A. Dilley born in 1793 in Botetourt who married an Elizabeth Matthews. This Joseph A. Dilley was the son of John Dilley and Elizabeth Ackland. Are you able to help me straighten these Joseph Dilleys out?
Beth abcfhist@hotmail.com

I am also related to Thompson Dilley through his son Oscar H Dilley. His first wife, Margaret Wey, was my 3rd great grandmother. Oscar and his second wife, Emma, lived in Wisconsin, Nebraska and Tillamook, Oregon. From my research I have not found that Oscar and the Dilleys are from Ireland during the potato famine but rather they are among the early settlers to Massachusettes Colony in the 1630's or 40's. Would love to hear from Thompson Dilley Descendants!
muccapartner@q.com

Sherrie,

I do have a James E. Dilley but he was not the son of William. He was James Elby Dilley son of Joel Washington Dilley and Willeg Ann Huffman. Now this is not my line and it does not appear that it is your line either. However in my direct line we have an Harry Augustus Dilley who was born Oct. 24, 1886 in Warren Co., Ia. probably. in Indianola. He died o Jan 2, 1964 in Denver, Co. but he did not have a son named James.

Now, if your William was born in 1857, which could be the correct time frame, let me know as I have information on a William Dilley family line assending on this line.

If you find any more data on William, let me know and I will see if perhaps I might have data pertaining to him.

Beth

Good Evening,
I don't have my records with me at this time but there is a Lake City that is a community on the N. E. limits of Seattle, Wa.

Now, there are at least two different Dilley family lines in the greater Puget Sound Area. One is my line descending down From Joseph Samuel Dilley the other line migrated to this area from I believe Mn. I will have to look in my records. Are you able to give me any information pertaining to William. That is a very common name. A time frame or an area where they may have lived.

There may perhaps be some of the Dilley line from the descendants of Dilley, Oregon. If you will conact me at abcfhis@hotmail.com, I will look in my different Dilley records when I get home.

Beth

Since Aaron W. Dilley had the picture this is most likely the Frances Dilley farm or that of one of his descendents. Francis was a son of Cornelius Dilley and lived in Hickory and West Lakawannock Twp . Mercer Co.
Cornelius was a brother of our Thompson Dilley so you all come from "A Long Line of Dilleys". These brothers moved from New Jersey to Trumbull Co. Ohio about 1801- 1803.
Joseph Dilley , oldest son of Thompson Dilley and Jane Dalley also lived in Mercer Co. He and his mother are buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery, near Transfer, PA.

I am trying to get info on my gg grandmother. Her name is on different documents as Gertie or Girtie or Gertrude or Gurtrude. Last name varies from Brey to Bray. She was born in abt. 1867 to Jacob and Annie Brey. Her dad died before she was 13. I can't find anything on her parents. Gertie died young. I think my g grandfather was only 2. I do know her stepfather's name was William Adams, born abt. 1834 in Ohio. Gertie's mom Annie was born in abt. 1844. Gertie died in about 1887. Her son was William A. Dilley of Porter Co., IN. Any help would be much appreciated.

James Curtis Dille 1869 Venango Co, PA

I'm trying to determine the father of James Curtis Dille b 12-21-1869 Mercer Co, PA and d 4-13-1934 in Venango Co, PA. The Dille book (pg 96) lists his father as James Monroe son of Lewis Brooks, David Jr, David through John Jr. However, I suspect James Curtis' father may be the James Dille b abt 1825 Mercer Co son of Lewis, Price, Ichabod to John Jr. My grandfather, Howard Dalton son of James Curtis, believed his grandfather (also named James) rode with General Grant during the Civil War. The James from the Ichabod line was in the 4th PA Vol Cavalry. He also moved to Venango County later in life, perhaps after 1880. My twig of the Dille tree is from Venango County. I do not know if the James Monroe of the Dille Book was in the Cavalry. The book does say he participated in the Civil War. Can anybody provide some insight?

Thank you.
Thanks Bob. I found a persons record which gives his name as Mathias Stephen Dilley which will suggest this was the same individual. However, I still in a quandary given the obit of his grandmother, Mary Bird, he is noted as Nataniel but the 1900 Census notes her living with Mathias and wife in 1900. An still can determine where the grandmother connection comes in as I can't find Elizabeth Burd. Anyway, thanks again and will continue my efforts to pin this down.
Dennis

Do you know who the wife of this Mathias might have been? Was it Almeta or Almira? As noted, the individual in the 1900 Census for Hunterdon Co. was married to Almeta (Almira?)and his grandmother, Mary A. Bird was residing with him. One daughter of Mary Bird was an Elizabeth, who was married twice. The first marriage was before 1890 for she married her second husband, John H. Hendershot about 1891. So the Dilley I'm seeking would have been from a marriage of a Dilley/Bird (Burd). Thanks for the information and appreciate any help on this from anyone.

I am looking for anyone with information on a Mathias Dilley, b. ca May 1875 Hunterdon Co. Believe he was a son of Isaac and Elizabeth Dilley as noted in 1880 Census. The last I have him is in 1900 Census where is noted married to a Almeta ? (b. ca Feb 1877). They had a daughter Ethel (b. ca 1898). The 1900 Census also notes a grandmother Mary A. Bird living with them. Mary is my gggrandmother. Her obit in 1902 reflects she was living with the family when she died. However, the obit notes Mathias as Nathanial. If anyone knows what happened to this family after 1902, I love to hear from you. Thanks.
Dennis
