My grandmother was either a Dingle or a Hilton and I am trying to confirm this. She was light skinned as well and spoke about being part Native American. I haven't been able to confirm that either. The names do not sound familiar but my grandmothers name was Carrie Mae. She was marrried to Flagler Daney and had 14 children. They lived in Alcolu. I'll see if my mother recognizes any of these names.

I'd be interested in seeing your grandfather's family tree on Dingles. I'm looking for info on Edward Dingle that family lore said "he lived across the line in Pennsylvania" (from Ohio) I wondered if he could be in your family. Edward Dingle born abt. 1870 in Ohio.

My father is from Manning, South Carolina which is about 45 minutes from Sumter. The birth date of 1798 would be too early however there may be a possibility of the "Uncle Mose" being the son of Moses.

I am researching my mother's maternal relatives. I have little to no information. My mother's grandmother was Julia, or Julie, Dingle who had a brother named John Dingle. There are other names such as Mary Lou Dingle (or Mary Lou Pitts), Lessie Dingle and Dorothy Dingle. Mary Lou and Dorothy lived in Lancaster, PA at some point in time.

My mother indicated that her grandmother was either bi-racial or Native American, as both Julia (Julie) and John were extremely fair skinned and had straight hair. Julia married Julius Pompy or Rompy and had 3 surviving children, Hestell (Hester), Carel (Carey), and Cecil. I estimate that Julia was born approx in the 1890s.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

I have lots of news regarding Rainbow Flats if you contact me. Chances are we are related as the property was in our family - and according to oral family history only 'relatives' lived there. Love to hear from a fellow tree climber with Rainbow Flats ancestors. I have been there and it is/was a very isolated place-it would have been a hard place to live in. When I was there all that remained was the chimmeny of the fireplace. My grandparents told me that it often held two and three families.
Again, very much enjoy hearing from you.

Hello,
This may interest you - I have a photo of an Arthur DINGLE born 1873, St.Stephens Cornwall. I know he married Mary BARRON 19 Feb 1898 ( I also have a photo of her). Mary Barron is my only connection to Arthur. I believe Arthurs parents are Thomas(1838) and Susanna.

Mary BARRON is the WIFE of Arthur DINGLE. Her parents are William BARRON and Mary ROWETT. Mary ROWETT is the daughter of James ROWETT (1811-?).

I have come across the photo in my family photo collection and it is well inscribed who the photo is of. It was taken in St. Austell by B.Julyan at 6 Church Street. The photo is of them as a couple prior to marriage as it has Mary's maiden name, the other photo of Mary BARRON by herself was taken by Orchard at St. Austell Cornwall on the bottom.

I'm John & Harriet's great granddaughter, Sandy Patterson Smith. I have spoken to Charles on the phone. I have quite a bit of research info on the Dingles but with the exception of Charles and family I have been unable to make contacts with current Dingles. They immigrated here from England between April 1880 and June 1880. They traveled from England to NY, to South Dakota to Appanoose, IA. One of the obits said they lived in Texas but I haven't found that yet. Susan Dingle was my grandmtr but she died 2 yrs after my father's birth. I have been to their home in Kewannee, 524 North Chestnut and in John Dingle's store -he sold Candy and Cigars. I met a woman in Kewannee that remembered him and told me his daughter, Lillian had polio. My email is Sandymo1999@att.net.

Hi, If anyone can help me, I am looking for my Great Great Grand Father - Joseph Dingle, born St Austell, Cornwall, England, who apparently went to Australia and was never heard of again. He married my Great Great Grand Mother Louisa Varcoe and had 2 daughters one of whom was my Geat Grand Mother Lucy Jane Dingle. Depending of which records you use he was actually born in 1854, but on his marriage cert he was shown as born 1847-1850 (unclear on cert if age was 23 or 26)- his dad is shown as George Dingle, and the only Joseph born to a George in this time period was born in 1854. I have found a Joseph Dingle in 1903 Voters List-Queensland, Charter Towers, Rainbow Flats - but don't know how to move on - have loads of Joseph Dingle's in USA born similar period and am currently trying to tie them all up. May have gone to New Zealand????
