Donald Thomas Dobbins, 64,
passed away on May 10, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nev., due to complications following heart surgery.
He was born in Oak Park, Ill., to Dennis "Jack" Dobbins Jr. and Mary Ellen Dobbins. He graduated from Indio High School in 1966. Don joined the army in 1967, completed special training "overseas" in Fairbanks, Alaska, and returned to California upon his discharge in 1970. The adventure called life took him to Arizona, Illinois, and finally Las Vegas last year to enjoy his retirement. He loved bowling, golfing, and spending time with his family, especially if he had a coupon. Survivors include his devoted wife, Sharon; 2 children; son Jack Preston, Austin, Texas and daughter Carol Denise Chinchilla, Anchorage, Alaska. He is also survived by brothers, Dennis, Gerald, Leonard and Danny as well as sisters, Susan Slama, Kathleen Caudill, Cheryl Dobbins, and Jacqueline Mueller. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, and brother Ronald. Don's wit and charm touched the lives of many. He never met a stranger and will be dearly missed by all. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Palm Desert, Calif.
( The Desert Sun on May 16, 2012.)

Louisa M Dobbins Payne

I'm searching for information on Louisa Payne (nee Dobbins) born in Albany, New York in 1840 and died in Albany in 1867, married to Edward Augustus Payne and mother of Hettie and Anna Louise. Particularly, I am looking for information on her parents. I have been told that their names are Henry and Elizabeth but I have not been able to find anything to support this. Also, I have located her residence at death and there is a Julia Dobbins who lives a block away at the same time. I have been able to trace much of this family and Julia is the wife of William J Dobbins, a carpenter, originally from Pennsylvania. Other than the close residence, I have not been able to make any more connections between these families. Any information on either family would be helpful.

James Dobbins (1730-1776) married Ruth Woolston. One of their 4 children, John Dobbins (1760-1841) was married twice. He married wife #1, Mary Murrell on 12/23/1779 & wife #2, Susannah Ridgway.
One of John & Mary Murrell's children was Sarah Dobbins. Sarah married Dr. Benjamin Say Budd. They had 8 children and one of which was Mary Dobbins Budd. As you stated, she maried William Parvin (born 8/19/1826 - died 3/15/1889. From my records they had 1 child, Clifford Ray who died in 1865 at 10 years of age. If you could help me/us with more information on that union it would be appreciated.

I have not checked this board in a really long time, now I am so glad I did. Found a treasure trove on the Dobbins line recently via the Christopher Columbus line from a direct descendant.

Would be really happy to correspond with you and my Louisa Jane Dobbins Hamrick is near and dear to my heart. She has been my elusive ancestor for many years and I have put many hours into this line and would love to correspond with you!

Please feel free to contact me via e-mail at WhimsicalDancer123@gmail.com. Look forward to making a connection and sharing what I have.

I also have quite a bit of Webb info too.

I am having great difficulty finding out anything about Julia Anne who married Wilson Bradley. I have a copy of their marriage license dated September of 1876 which conflicts with many of the public trees. Can anyone shed any light on this for me?
Many Thanks,
Angela

Monte Vista Memorial Gardens in Johnson City TN

July 31, 2011. Just visited Monte Vista Memorial Gardens in Johnson City TN. I live in North Carolina and haven't been there in years. My grandmother, Leola Dobbins Marion, and her nine year old daughter are buried in an old part of the cemetery. We could not find the grave because it was overgrown with weeds, briers, and poison ivy. Then I saw where they were bulldozing the area behind where the graves should be. The guys doing the bulldozing didn't know there were graves there. I went crazy and went into the area looking for my grandmother's grave. My daughter came after me and she finally found the grave. It was 10 feet from the bulldozed area. We could not get to the area next to her grave where her daughter is buried. It was too dense. They are letting the old part grow over and then covering over the old graves. For what? Reuse the land for other graves? Contacting the Johnson City police tomorrow, then the state of TN. What appears to be a beautifully maintained perpetual care cemetery is really a business that doesn't care about any graves it thinks are too old to have anyone visit any more. Anyone who has anyone buried at Monte Vista Memorial Gardens and are related the Dobbins in East Tn and VA, call and complaint about the treatment Leola has received. They do know she is there. My sister had asked them years ago where the grave was and they told her where to find it.

Monte Vista Memorial Gardens
1900 E Oakland Avenue
Johnson City, TN 37601
Phone Number: (423) 282-2631

I am looking for information about Moses W. Dobbins (b. around 1825) of Stewart County, Ga. Looking at U.S. Census records, it appears that he and his family moved to Fulton County, Ga., sometime between 1870 and 1880. In particular I'd like to know if this Moses W. Dobbins was a slaveholder in Stewart County, Ga. Can anyone help?

Dear Robert:
My biologacal grandfather's name was William Alvin Dobbins. He was married to my grandmother, Bessie Lea Young, in Kansas City, Mo. on June 11, 1915, in Kansas City, Mo. They had one daughter, Ruby Frances Dobbins, my mother. He and my grandmother separated and were divorced in 1920. My mother grew up not knowing her father. I, also,am trying to find information. What I have so far is his residence in Quindaro, Wyandotte, Kansas, the marriage record when he and my grandmother married, and his draft registration in 1917-1918. His mother later married a man named Mr. Hardy. I have a picture of them. He may not be the right Will Dobbins but hope this helps. Beth White

Looking for information on the family of a Jennie Lee Dobbins (b.1857, d.1899) married to Albert Alexander Dunn. As best I can tell, she had the following siblings: Susan (abt 1848), Robert B. (abt 1851), John (abt 1855), Oliver(abt 1860), and James (abt 1863). I suspect her father was James B. Dobbins (abt 1830(GA)) and mother was Ann Benson (abt 1832(AL)). Census records show them living in Texas (Rusk Co.(1860)and Colorado Co.(1880)). I have also found Susan living with an uncle William Benson in Colorado and Scurry counties. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Marcus King

Trying to find ANY parent information on Abner Dobbins, born about 1808, married to Minerva Hicks, & having children named Thelma, Samuel, Martha, Charles W., James, and Creed Fulton. He is my GGGGrandfather. Creed had a son named Creed, who had a son named William, my Grandfather. I'm pretty sure our branch of the family can be traced back to Ireland but I can't get any further back than Abner and all I know is that he was supposed to have been born in Virginia. If anyone can point me to information on Abner, we would really appreciate it.

Dobbins, Mother: Ellen Dobbins, Spouse: Eller Dobbins, Children: Saint Foster Dobbins

My Father's name was Saint Foster Dobbins, scense these are not very common names, like Bill, Mary, and John etc. For this exact combination of names to be from two seperate, people born in the same place would be a very unlikely and my father was not a Jr.

I dio't know if posting here will do any good but it can't do any harm. Any information on any of these persons will be helpful and very much apreciated.
