Hi Thank you for all the time you have put into the Dockery family. I am very interested to learn more about Haston/ Hasten Dockery born about 1816 married to 1st wife Catherine Owens about 1852. Have you gotten anymore on this family. I have 1yr to connect this family to europe. I am wanting to go far back as I can until I get a Dockery family name connected to Immigration papers. I believe this family came from Ireland but keeping my options open until confirmed. Do you have a father and mothers name on Haston Dockery. Any research that you can copy at the county clerks office would be rewarded. I am living in Italy and have one year left. I go to Ireland in two months and again next year. I am trying to find a connection before I go. I can send pictures of Ireland for more research if I know where to go.

I am related to Haston Dockery also. Haston's 1st wife, Catherine Owens had son Marion Richard "Dick" Dockery born 1859. Not much is known about Haston Dockery, Have you gotten a date of Birth and place for him? Do you have any sources for his parents names and information. I haven't been able to go do any research. I have hit a brick wall. Do you have any more information on this family?

Hi, I am looking for J.L. Dockery & daughter, RUTH who married Arthur Osco Livingston 1935 in Knoxville, TN. I found their record in the archives in Knoxville, TN. I did not find a divorce but know that my mother, Anne Johnston and my father married in GA in 1946.

I would love to find Ruth Dockery family to see if I have brother's and sisters by that marriage and where/when they divorced. Thanks ahead of time for any information. J.L. signed for Ruth to get married and was listed as her father on the document.

Pennie Livingston Cockrel
penniecockrel@yahoo.com

I am researching my ancestors, the Dockerys from Wilkes County, NC. I saw your post regarding Elijah H. Dockery from 2010. I am the only surviving child of Clifford Emmet Dockery. If you are still interested, please let me know. I found out from your post that he was a prisoner of war. I, myself, do not have very much information on my great-grandfather but I might be able to dig for more.

Betty Dockery Romefelt

Hey,

I did happen to locate the census records from Alabama from 1870 and 1880. Outside of these, I was not able to find any addition information. I seen were it stated that Ephraim was a physician, but it had C.J. as a farmer. Where did you find the information about him being a soldier in the Civil War? And if you know any additional information, or ways about finding it, I would love to know.

Thanks,

Konley

My friend helped with some research that shows Ephraim, Carroll's brother, as a physician.

Carroll J, was a soldier in the Civil War.

I have more. Feel free to contact me. I hope you can dig up some information too. I've been working on this for a while.

Hi there
I saw your post on Ancestry from 2003 so I’m hoping this post finds you.
I too have Dockery Ancestors from Kilmore, Specifically Hugh Dockery who was married to Joan Simpson. They had at least 7 children – John, James, Maria Jane (my gg grandmother), Hubert Thomas, Brigid Catherine, Sarah. I have traced the lineages of Maria, Sarah and Catherine.
Hugh ran a shop that incorporated a Post Office, a grocery, and a pub. He was also a Prebendary Magistrate and a Clerk of the Petty Sessions.
His house still stands and is now a grade II listed thatched cottage.
I hope we can chat ‘cos I’ve lots to tell!
I’ll post this on the boards as well.
And you can view my family tree at www.myheritage.com/site-11862511/maurice-gleesons
Regards

Maurice

Maurice Gleeson
Administrator
Spearin Surname Project
Email: mauricegleeson@doctors.org.uk
Website: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~spearin/In...
Cindy,
The Oxford Library checked their paper and William Dockery's death is also mentioned there but not Lizzie's.
Here's what I found:
Henderson Daily Dispatch
Jan. 2, 1934, p. 6
DESPONDENT ELDERLY MAN IS A SUICIDE
Will Dockery Shoots Himself to Death in Home at North Henderson
Despondent over the loss of his wife several months ago, without steady employment, Will Dockery, 65 years old or more, committed suicide at his home in North Henderson last night about 9 o'clock by shooting himself. A jury empanelled by coroner E.O. Faulkner returned a verdict of clear suicide.
Wilbur Woolard, a nine-year-old boy who lived with the aged man, was an eyewitness to the shooting. He told the coroner Dockery got out his shotgun and asked him to shoot him. The boy refused, whereupon, he said, the man took off a shoe, pressed the muzzle of the gun against his abdomen and pulled the trigger with his toe. The load entered through the stomache and tore through the heart, causing instant death.
Before killing himself, the boy said Dockery had given the lad instructions to place his gun back under the bed after the shooting, and call a Mr. Smith, and also R.C. Woodlief, insurance agent. The boy had replaced the gun.
Dockery's wife died several months ago, and since then he had been despondent. He had been on the relief rolls for many months, and he is quoted as having said on a number of occasions since his wife's death that he wanted to end it all and be placed by her side in the cemetery. Emma Petty, a housekeeper, who had lived with the old man and the boy, had left on Monday to take a job elsewhere, it is said.
The coroner's jury which found the death a suicide, was composed of S.B. Rogers, W.B. Hight, Zeb Murphy, Lucco Harris, D.M. Stokes and Wesley Ayscue.

God bless,
Charlette

Hello,

I am not sure if these are the same or not. However, with a name like Ephraim Dockery, it certainly has to be the same family. I did not know of my
Ephraim being a doctor. Of course, it is possible. I know nothing of his family......father, mother or siblings, so I do not know of the Carrol Dockery. In what part of Alabama were they living? Please tell me more. Maybe we can figure out this mystery. I do know about Ephraim's immediate family......children.

My distant relative seems similar to the one you are looking for and around the same time and location.

He had a brother named Carrol J. Dockery who was a soldier in a regiment of the confederate army. Also, Ephraim was a physician.

Are we possibly/hopefully talking about the same person?

Please advise.

John Austin Dockery was my great grandfather. I grew up in Morgantown. I was born in 1950 and one of his daughters,Lula Dockery Johnson, was my Grandmother. I know a little about their family but my cousin Dottie knows much more I think. I know John Austin's wife was named Mary Jane and they had several Children. Besides my grandmother there were two sons, Evert and Basil, and daughters, Dora Dockery Rose, Edmona(Eddie)Dockery Deweese, and Mollie Dockery Cardwell (she was also married to a Taylor at one time, and I think the name on her birth certificate may have actually been Mary, like her mother). My grandmother died when I was two but I knew Aunt Mollie well, and she lived until I was 15. What I know of the Dockerys I learned from her. I hope this may help you.

Thomas Dockery here, son of Nando.
Dad's mom, Lillie (Smith) Dockery is said to be a registered Cherokee #9878 (don't know what that number is nor what state she was registered in?) I have a picture of her that was taken around 1948. I'll try to capture this with a digital camera and have it for anyone that would want a copy.
Another note: Nando married Dorothy Janella Messer. Her grandmothers story follows.
During the Civil War, a southern farmer left his family to fight. When he finally returned home a few years later, he had an extra daughter. Apparently, an Indian dropped by to help out on the farm...!!!
Hi Kelly,
I am a descendent of Dockerys. My grandmother on my father's side was Ophelia Dockery. Her parents were James Marian Dockery and Rachel Jane Pigg. I just started to uncover names, dates, and places in August,2010 so I'm still fairly new at it. I have traced as far back as 1613 in Sunderland, Durham, England. My 7th Great grandfather was Henry DOCKERTY. The spelling changed to DOCKERY when his son Thomas came to the USA. Thomas was born in 1635 in Warwickshire, England. He died in 1700 in Virginia. I don't know if we're from the same line, but I'll check uncles of our line and see if there are any names that you mention. Good luck. It's really fascinating. You'll find out more ethan you imagined. I didn't even remember my grandmother's maiden name before I started this. Email me if you'd like to chat.- Sadie DeSimone sadiedesimone@comcast.net

My Grandfather@ Grandmother, on the Dockery side were Alvin and Minnie. Both of the died, back in the, early to late 1970,s!!. Please get in touch with me, because I would like to dig and dig DEEP, and see who WE are, and WHO we are kin to, and also, where WE came from. I would like to try to start a family tree, as back as possible! Thanks, Barry Dockery bdockery@surry.net
